@@thebetamaxman8905 Howdy! Yes thank you for your channel and knowledge in the field of these electronics. I know plenty of basics but not the hard details LOL My father I believe has located a few Beta Players in Las Vegas. If that does not pan out I will certainly speak with you about one. VHS hunting is my main focus, but My cousin gave me an odd box of Beta tapes, nearly 90 of them. 65 or so are all Dubbed blanks of a selection of films. I want to play them to try and figure out more. Perhaps this was a personal collection of someone that worked at a video store and simply just dubbed tapes of everything there he or she wanted. I like doing forensics on my finds lol, what type of collector turned over this set of movie kind of deal. Thank you again Broski! I'll be around.

Sony never delivered S-VHS consumer decks in Europe. As far as I remember the chroma levels of S-VHS are the same as of standard VHS. So the image is sharper, but not more colorful. I think 12voltvids explained once.

That’s correct. It was never quite as good as Laserdisc.

Beta processed the chroma signels better. vhs seems to have a lot of chroma noise as i like to call it color bleading

Are you kidding? This machine was GARBAGE and always had to be repaired. Besides, it was noisy as hell.

yes they where noisy and yes they did have problems with the power supply hifi audio board and that pesky blue gear but i love the features it had and its great looks the picture quality was good to. I'm wanting to buy a Sony SLV-R1000 maybe someday

@@americanidle1277 exactly and spending time and money with these old complicated wonderous machines and then displaying their feed on a $70 Roku TV is beyond my comprehension so my point was if you're gonna zoom and stretch the image any benefit an S-VHS player has over other 1988 VCRs is kinda moot...

@@3800TType I was lucky enough to get an unopened Jurassic Park VHS last year, it's the Pan and Scan 4:3 version not the Letterbox Widescreen unfortunately. But anyway I feed the VCR into my flagship Pioneer Elite SC57 Receiver which upscales l and deinterlaces to 1080p60hz and then I send that to my Pioneer TV which upscales to 4k and it looks absolutely incredible, people don't believe it's a VHS. It stays in the original aspect the entire time with no distortion. Also running the VHS on my Panasonic 19micron HiFi VCR gives me a stereo signal that carries the Dolby Surround encoding and I decode it in my receiver up to matrix 9.1 or if I'm feeling nostalgic I'll do the native 4ch Dolby Surround Pro Logic mode but either way it sounds fantastic. VHS has limitations but through the right equipment it's not bad at all, just like anything, bad equipment is the enemy. Also I have this Steely Dan album on original cassette recorded using Dolby B NR HX Pro and it sounds like a CD, it's that good, I have done a blind listening test with my friends, they could not believe it was a tape. Dolby HX Pro was a Bang and Olufsen technology licensed by Dolby and it did something with bias and recording level to mask hiss and let me tell you it works.
