We see the cross in churches and steeples, hanging in homes and, worn around the necks of many Christians; however, many don’t know what the cross means. There is also much debate as to whether or not it is appropriate - or even sinful - to wear religious jewelry like crosses and crucifixes. In order to understand whether or not it is ok for Christians to wear the cross, we have to understand the history of the cross and what the cross really means, particularly in our own lives.

      @christykelly1 2 ปีที่แล้ว +11

@Manan Dhyani He didnt save Himself, He died along with all our sins so we could live an eternal life with Him in heaven. He is God because He is a part of the Trinity (Father, Son and Holy Spirit) He is God and He came to Earth as a human so He could experience all the hardships along with everyone else. So yes, He didnt save Himself but God raised Him from the dead and a month later He ascended into Heaven (without dying again) to sit by the right hand of the Father.

@UCcmBeBSTI4dSZx9KDj9tU_g Firstly, Jesus was Jewish which evolved from the religion Yahwism. Christians believe in the same God as Jewish people but we believe that Jesus died for everyone.
Secondly, Adam and Eve were the first man and woman on the Earth and they walked with God. Adam and Eve lived about 156000 yea ago and as I said before, they walked with God. That is WAAAAY Hinduism was started.
Furthermore, Jesus died for EVERYONE, even you, we have to accept Him into our hearts and let Him help us live out our daily lives to be like him. Sadly, because of the devil, there is sin in the world which steers us away from God with temptations. Have you ever told a white lie? Have you ever done something bad? It is all sin, even the small things. Everyone sins, even you. The only person who has never sinned was Jesus which is why he could die for us. Jesus died along with all our sins and rose again so we could be new with him.
Plus, America and Britain has nothing to do with Christians, Muslims or Jews. These three Abrahamic religions were founded in the Middle East. Yes, maybe some British colonizers were Christian but their faith is between them and God. The things that they did back then were wrong and sinful. I don’t even live near America or Britain so I don’t really understand how this is relevant.
With Christianity, there are different branches of Christianity, but I believe that Jesus died for everyone and I can pray to Him and the Trinity and have a relationship with Him.

I had a near death experience, and I got one this month. A simple wooden cross being my skin was sensitive to the material on the jewelry.
I prayed over it and it will be my reminder that the most high is with me and to always be about what is righteous. It definitely is a reminder that the love Jesus for us on the cross.
The humble wood cross will also ultimately, for me, symbolize how humble I am onto my my high Heavenly Father.
After nearing losing my life, and losing Lord Jesus and Heavenly Father in my life, I prayed and begged him never to leave me. This is a symbol of me as a man devoted to my walk of faith.
So, I will wear mine and carry one as well in this walk of faith. I never want to be without my savior and Heavenly Father.

I'm Catholic. I think this debate is stupid! It's truly mind boggling to me! The cross/crucifix is our symbol as Christians. It means so much, now we can't wear it?! I try to wear a cross every day. I hate taking it off. It brings me so much comfort and I feel Jesus Christ, God, and the archangels with me everywhere I go. I will admit that I often feel very unsafe wearing a cross. I usually keep it inside my shirt depending on where I go. Some people are very evil, negative and hateful. They hate Christians.

I do wear a small cross. The closer I come to Christ, the darker the world becomes. My hand goes to my neck at times, the small cross reminds me what He has done for us, his children. It reminds me who I am without Him. It reminds me that I must die daily and live in Christ. It reminds me that Christ left the Holy Spirit to convict me and comfort me. It reminds me that He is preparing a place for me. When true persecution comes and they take it away from me, that’s ok. They will never take away the scripture I have hidden in my heart and the God I know who is my Master, Savior and Father.

However, I do have a bracelet with a wooden cross, and I got it as a gift from a Christian-based thrift store. (I never get or give material gifts but this one seemed particular.) That, I do wear. I think a lot of (materials) and decor especially should always be considered and one should try to trace back to its origins and purpose of the company behind it. Like there’s nothing wrong with a Walmart necklace, but if I could make one or find someone to make one instead, that may be more intentional, and I think that matters. Where we buy from, totally matters. There’s some great (truly) Christian stores online and in-person.

"This cross is the tree of my eternal salvation nourishing and delighting me. I take root in its roots, I am extended in its
branches, I am delighted by its dew, I am fertilized by its spirit as by a delightful breeze. In my tent I am shaded by its shade and fleeing the excessive heat I find this refuge moist with dew. Its flowers are my flowers; I am wholly delighted by its fruits and I feast unrestrainedly on its fruits which are reserved for me always. This is my nourishment when I am hungry, my fountain when I am thirsty, my covering when I am stripped, for my leaves are no longer fig leaves but the breath of life. This is my safeguard when I fear God, my support when I falter, my prize when I enter combat, and my trophy when I triumph. This is my narrow path, my steep way. This is the ladder of Jacob, the way of angels, at the summit of which the Lord is truly established. This is my tree, wide as the firmament, which extends from earth to the heavens, with its immortal trunk established between heaven and earth; it is the pillar of the universe, the support of the whole world, the joint of the world, holding together the variety of human nature, and riveted by the invisible bolts of the Spirit, so that it may remain fastened to the divinity and impossible to detach. Its top touches the highest heavens, its roots are planted in the earth, and in the midst its giant arms embrace the ever present breaths of air. It is wholly in all things and in all places."

Well... not just a cross, could be anything you wear as a lucky charm.
The religious person wear amulets for good luck for protection from evil etc etc.
The Holy one ,the God of heaven and Lord Jesus , don't go by this practices in the new covenant...instead we the believers have faith in him ,he lives in us we are his temple.
He is our protector ,our provider ,our everything etc etc.
We don't need amulets ,crosses ,garlic wine ,bones ,lucky charms etc that is is only for religious people who do not know the living God.
That is more in witchcraf, cause you put you heart into and amulets or abject instead of the Lord himself.
I Cary my Bible but my Bible it has no power or lucky charm for me if I don't have Jesus in my heart and I serve him according to his word and to his Spirit.
We are to be very careful with this kind of practices,
which could look so attractive and so Holy and make you feel so good /deceive...buy is all fake faith because your faith is know in the amulets instead of God.

Followers of the Church of Rome and Orthodoxy wear a crucifix which is a cross with a corpus (A corpus is the figure of Christ)
We at the Christonian Church believe we should wear a plain cross because "Christ has risen" He is no longer on the cross. It is looked upon as an insult to Jesus to put Him back on the cross.

Also I believe there is some identity that comes to wearing a cross and people just don't wear it just because, even if it's a fashion statement. I know many people who would never wear one, even if everyone is wearing it, as a fashion statement. There is a spirituality that happens when you wear one. I was Catholic before, and that was totally normal and even anyone who wore a rosary around their necks on a daily basis, no one was asking questions... I't was just tradicional and religious thing in my country. But as I became a member of an evangelical free group I started to feel strange to wear it, because I felt some kind od jugmental atmosfere when the believers saw my cross... Also, sometimes I felt unsafe when I was among unbelievers or People of other religions.... So, I'm still praying to the Lord about it. I't means a lot to me because it can also be a testimony and something like preaching the gospel without the words...

I bought a cross, because I recently fount God and it’s changed my life so much for the better, so I wanted a cross to wear to always remember what Christ did for me and to help me when I stumble as a reminder
But I feel like my past sinful ways made me go with a more shiny flashy cross and I don’t want to wear a cross that people or even I just see as a fashion statement… I simply want a normal cross to remember our savior, not to look good and flashy because I want to be reminded of what Jesus Christ done for me, rather than how good I’m looking

I’m so surprised that the narrator said what he did about the cross! Everything amounted to how someone personally feels about the cross, is what I got from him. I think it’s more serious than that! On the walls, on the inside of the ancient Egyptian pyramids, there are crosses depicting usage of it at least 2,000 yrs before Christ in the B.C. Period. There is a constellation in the sky called the “southern cross “ where the ancient Greeks and others used it in astrological purposes to contact their gods through their Delphi oracles, similar to the Ouija Board today. The cross is a B.C. Religious symbol that didn’t represent Christ during its heyday. It’s originally a pagan symbol related to the occult since astrology is condemned in the Bible. That’s why it was in the hands of pagan Rome instead of the Jewish people when Christ came, passed on down from the Greeks, Egyptians and the Babylonians.

Where did you get such a blanket statement from? Have you spoken to _everyone_ who wears a cross? (I wear one and think nothing of the sort) Any true believers in Christ would know they are in His hand because that’s what the Bible says, and know that He is directing their path and will be with them come what may(good or bad).
You can wear something that reminds you of someone you love without _idolizing_ or worshiping it. A wife can wear her wedding ring as a symbol of their commitment and love and not worship it. The rings presence or absence does not make or break the relationship.
