      They trained for 2 weeks at the same place and Justin Gaethje told Khabib he will never tap every day, that's why Khabib let go he knew Justin wasn't going to tap and he didn't want to end Justin's career like that. Snapping someones arm like that would take years to fully heal which would mean he wouldn't be able to train, that would have been the end for Justin.

  • @nexesses1548
    @nexesses1548 2 ปีที่แล้ว +64

    Usman overal hasn’t overtaken GSP by a long shot yet.
    Greatness is not the same as best. Best means “how good are you in your sport or game”. Greatness means achievements, icons, image, succes, and GSP is just blowin usman out of the water in those categories.
    GSP beat the best of 3 generations, usman beat 2.
    GSP was champ in 2 divisions+interim, usman 1
    GSP has 21 wins in the UFC, usman has 15,
    GSP has 16 title fights (that’s more than total wins in the ufc for usman), usman has 6 title fights.
    GSP has 9 title defenses, usman has like 5.
    To wrap this up, GSP was a champion for way longer, he held more UFC records like most control time and most top control time and even now he still holds more, he still has more career stats like takedown, finishes etc, his undefeated steak in the UFC is 13 in almost exclusively title fights, even having a terrible condition in his last fight. He has way better striking especially kicking, jabbing, left hook and footwork, and a higher takedown percentage and set it up better with striking and creating dilemmas.
    He did all of this in a era of PED’s while staying clean himself. (Arguably usman uses PED’s) When most of his opponents were champions at one point or another. His rematches have been nothing less than destruction and he still has a 91 percentage win rate with almost double the matches.
    Oh and after 4.5 years (almost going into his 40s) he returns and beats the champion of a division higher who walked around 40 pounds heavier while he had severe ulcerative colitis and was bleeding from the inside out. He also had to skip months of training right before the fight and suffered agonizing pain during the fight aswel. He couldn’t eat properly or drink properly and he was always exhausted and suffering. He won.
    So you can see GSP has double the achievements in almost every category, more records, better stats, better striking, better take downs, did it under way harsher conditions against higher ranked opponents in more weight classes. Finishing of by doing something that should have been impossible. Usman is arguably not even halfway.

    • @certifiedbttm4003
      @certifiedbttm4003 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Even in conversation of best, GSP is a better striker, definitely better kicker, creates dilemma’s in the cage where he can set up his moves perfectly, his in and out movement is better, he has a way higher takedown percentage and by most accounts he apparently held back as much skills as possible to keep in his back pocket for when he needed it. He beer never needed it. Also apparently GSP was at this best skill wise after his lay off and we have not seen what he could do at all. He was hindered with ring rust and still won.

    • @reggiesmoke4801
      @reggiesmoke4801 2 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      Usman is arguably two maybe 3 wins from surpassing GSP imo, if he retires unbeaten 18-0, beating Edwards, Luque and maybe someone Like Khamzat, it will make him the GOAT objectively speaking. He would have also broken Silva's insane 16 fight win streak convincingly while still being unbeaten and cleares the division twice.
      The 2 division thing is kind of a joke, no disrespect to Bisping but he got lucky and the right cards fell to him, he wasn't championship calibre at that point, his first defense was against and old Hendo who was 2 in 6 (who let that shit happen lol) , He got KOed shortly after the GSP fight by Gastellum, and retired that same year it was one eyed Bisping after all. GSP also immeadiately vacated the title like even he knew what was up.
      Also for the whole PED thing you are only guilty if you are caught lol, you can never say who is and who isn't clean, all you can do is base your conclusions on who actually pops for it, cause everyone knows how widespread PEDs are. Even in the "PED era" most fighters weren't popping even guys like Brock weren't lmao.

    • @Johan-oe7eh
      @Johan-oe7eh 2 ปีที่แล้ว +15

      You made a very good point untill you said"while Gsp was clean and usman arguably uses peds".

    ive had the same thing since i heard khabib mentioned in this. to be in the running against gsp imo, khabib just needed more title defenses. 7-8? weeeelll its not TWO, but at least a yr or two at the top. dominant as he was, he needed more defenses and to basically rematch the whole top 5 again. top 4-5 and a new guy in there that made sense. idk why but title defenses are really important to me and its really what defines the best of the top guys. im completely on board with him never leaving 155. completely. but a reign, a real reign. like going back to the old days, take matt hughes, back then and for along time there was a real pattern of a three year reign. it seemed like when someone dominated, held the belt, it took about 3 yrs for the field to figure out a way to beat them. there seemed to be a real pattern there, and khabib needs a real reign to be in this with the likes of gsp. and i love khabib, im assuming he reitres his reign undefeated here, but still. he needed a reign, not an epic climb and brief stint.

    • @IvanM272
      @IvanM272 2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Khabib can’t be the GOAT because beating and fighting the top of the division for 5 rounds everytime and fighting multiple generations of fighters is the hardest thing to do on the sport. He didn’t even started to do that. He also used towels to make weight and was a weight bully, an unidimensional guy can’t be the GOAT if you level everyone weight wise to a GOAT discussion. The lack of grapplers on the top is a hard argument against him, because he arguably lost to Tibau and would have problems with Tony and Oliveira. The lack of styles and high level matches are to big against Khabib. I’m Brazilian and my fellow countryman Rickson have around 300 fights basically undefeated, but what about the level of his competition? That’s the most important criteria and the best competition is the competition that shows up when you’re on the biggest promotion in the world when you’re at the top, Khabib never payed his dues to be called the GOAT, his record is very weak if we look at the numbers of top guys he faced.

    Maybe instead of GOAT it should be GOTE Greatest of Their Era? Ali is frequently called the GOAT, but would Tyson Fury beat him? We will never know so there can be no conclusion to the debate, instead Ali should be called the greatest of his era. Floyd was the greatest of his era, Georges was the greatest of his era, Khabib was the greatest of his era, Usman appears to be etc etc.
    I think the reason Charles Oliveira isn't getting the credit that he deserves right now is because the lightweight division has just started its new era, we wont know who the best is until it's over.

    “Greatness” is a hard argument. I think it’s a combination of accomplishment, skill and aura (or as Uncle Chael says, popularity”)
    When I think of basketball, Lebron MIGHT be the “best” player of all time, but he will never be the greatest because of the accomplishment and aura surrounding jordan. More championships and more stardom pushes Jordan ahead.
    With MMA, Khabib probably is the best martial artist, or most dominant as we have seen in his fights, but his 29-0 record is not the most impressive. He definitely could beat GSP, but GSP has a better accolades. I’d say they’re aura’s are pretty equal as fighters.
    GOAT Mixed Martial Artist is hard to judge because the sport is so new, there are so many divisions and it can be so random. Is GSP’s loss to Matt Hughes as important as Khabibs win over Iaquinta?

      I think we should also factor in improvements as well, a fighter could well start off bad and slowly improve over the course of his career to become a goat.
