I had a guy in the middle of his second shift, just look around after I asked him to scrape some trays, and he was like “nah, I don’t think I wanna work here anymore.” Then he clocked out and left. I just laughed and said okay cuz I was relieved I didn’t have to train him.

I used to work at an office job where the temporary workers wouldn’t come back after lunch. Because we actually expected them to work.

The quickest job I quit was when I was hired at McDonald's. During the interview, I told them I needed these hours due to college classes I was taking. They pretty much told me "no we can't do that", I was like "I'm not going to be able to take this job then". They said you're hired, show up at xx time Monday. I said, "okay" and never showed up. Got hired elsewhere, a week later for better pay and hours.

I once accepted a job offer to work as a cook/kitchen assistant. I was there for a day and a few hours. The kitchen staff was downright awful to each other. I know that it can get loud and rough, but these people were simply toxic. There was this overweight girl my age (around 18 at that time) which was the only one that wasn't being nasty and they were bullying her mercilessly, to a point where she hid for half an hour to cry. Was told this was always a daily occurrence "haha". I finished my task and left, told the owner his staff was absolute filth and never went back.

Had a guy come into a Commercial Kitchen. He was bragging that he did his College stuff and pretty much claimed he was better then anyone since he did Restaurant style food. After his first day (Monday being the second busiest day) he said he had never expected a kitchen to be so hectic. I told him Saturday was 5 times worse. We never saw him again.

I had a job interview once for a cashier position at a grocery store. I rocked up to the interview 30 minutes early and had previously been told to specifically wait outside the store until the interviewer "beckons me in". I waited for an hour standing outside in the hot sun in 35°C heat (also dressed in long formal attire appropriate for the interview) before this interviewer finally came to tell me the interview was beginning. I walk in and here's another 20 other people going for the same interview who were all told 2 hours earlier that their interview is now actually taking place with another group of interviewees (myself included). The interview went well, but we were all given a book sized document to fill out have "authenticated" and signed off by local police and submitted the following day. On top of that, we were told during the interview that we wouldn't get more than 10 hours/ week and that sometimes without any prior notice we'd be expected to fill shifts for stores located up to 500 kilometres away. I was desperate for work, but not that desperate...

I was working as a CNA and a new guy started and after a couple hours on his first day he came up to me, not anyone in charge of anything, and said "I think I'm going to go home, I'm not feeling well".. I said "okay.." and went on with my work... Several hours later the nurses asked if anyone had seen him.. Never saw him again.

Former movie theatre manager (I did not hire him). The fastest I have had someone quit is 8 hours. He "just was not feeling the job". He never showed up again.

I was between jobs but my resume is decently strong and I have a stable work history and a clean military drug/crime history , even my driver license has low points. basically I get hired at almost everything entry and middle level I have ever applied for. The company I interviewed and got accepted with looked great on paper and had a lot going for it in pay and benefits. the first day on the job there was orientation and the HR lady that gave us a tour of the place sounded like the old lady on monsters inc. every bullet of information she gave us was punctuated with a stupidly strict rule and a warning ie "15 minute breaks in this break room only any where else or for to long and you are fired. " while touring the place with her obnoxious voice threatening to fire us for every infraction I observed how EVERY SINGLE PERSON look absolutely fucking miserable. not one friendly smile or wave. heads down, no smiling or eye contact. I really did need a job pretty quickly but when she asked if there were any questions after the tour my question was "where is the exit?" no regrets - I have been at my current company since 2006 - they are like my work family and I still enjoy my job and environment. 0 regrets F that place.

Creepy Somalian guy story: Not even a supervisor/manager took him aside and said to stop that? They all stood around and just watched him pester her? That's why this crap keeps happening.

I work at a manufacturing plant. We generally get 5-10 temps every other Wednesday. As the turn over rate is incredibly high. After your orientation, management takes you on a tour of the plant and sort of explains each line. Then they take you and show you how to clock in. Well we had one who took the tour, clocked in just to clock out and walk out the door. He did no actual work. Just saw the plant and noped the f out. Smart man.

Was working as an assistant for a vinyl graphics place. The owner wanted to take me to an expensive restaurant for lunch on the first day (I asked for a cheap lunch instead). Then he invited me to his place for “fish tacos” which I declined. After he got me to sort his receipts for taxes (which were from two years prior) while he played and sang on his guitar, we closed up shop and he smoothed his hand on my waist on the way out. I noped the frick out the next day. I never led him on or anything. I heard later that he didn’t pay one girl because they banged and he insisted it was “her pleasure.” Grimy ho-bag.

I wasn’t called back because I called 911 when a client fainted in front of me on my first day. I was told to leave my shirt on my way out. That was it. I was on the clock for about 7 hours of my first shift.

At this open-front beach cafe I worked at my co-workers told me about this girl who'd applied for the job before me. Apparently she got upset because she thought she was "just going to make coffee" there. Like...she
