Landon & Charity Anderson 2020 National Cabaret

- Now two-time National Cabaret champions Charity Anderson and brother Landon Anderson perform cabaret to "Eight" by Sleeping At Last at The 2020 National Amateur Dancesport Championships in Provo, Utah. They received 1st place in this event, originally scheduled for Saturday March 14, which was one of the only events capable of being rescheduled to Thursday March 12, the same day as the nationwide quarantine due to COVID-19. Grateful for the opportunity to still compete, they performed a 4 minute lift routine, just 1 hour after Landon and his wife Hannah finished 4 rounds of 4 dances each in the Adult Amateur Smooth event. In light of the circumstances they gave it their all.

Love that Sleeping at Last is getting some more popularity, this song is based on the personality type 8 on the enneagram personality test. They have a song for each type and they are all so beautiful.

From a seamstress perspective, it's not the length of the dress that is problematic, but the fabric used. It seems to be a 4 way stretch gold "lamé", and as the name implies, it stretches in width and height, so when she's dancing, the fabric is elongated by the inertia before retracting, catching in the heels of her shoes when other fabrics would have just slide on them...
But she's overcome that difficulty with her talent, so congratulations!

They never seem to have much luck with their wardrobe do they? Last year his belt broke, this year that dress kept getting into places it shouldn't.

It does sorta look like it. My initial reaction was ouch. Sometimes I have that reaction to moves anyways so I don’t always trust it but on a rewatch it does look a little fumbled which sucks for them.
It’s her leg that hit his face on accident and that’s why he dropped her😥 but about wardrobe - 100% true
So here is some inside information from someone who was there that night. This event took place the week that everything in Utah was shut down due to the coronavirus threat. The event they danced this routine for (the US National Amateur Cabaret) was not even scheduled to take place that night and was going to be cancelled, but at the last minute they received word that it was going to be pushed into the end of the night. Dancers actually competed until almost 3am to give as many people the opportunity as possible to dance because the following 2 days of events had been cancelled. Because they thought they would have 2 more days, yes Landon & Charity were not as prepared as they would like. Minutes before they went on their music was not even downloading and they had to use a phone to play the music from. With all that craziness they did well enough to take the US title, but of course they know that they could have done better. Believe me, they are their own greatest critics!
@@charismastudio4282 I still think they were amazing. They did a great job, it's a shame we didn't get to see them this year, let's hope next year all competitions are back on.
Do they not do dress rehearsals? I feel so bad that the dress got in her way multiple times :( and it seemed like Landon dropped her in the end or the lift didn't go as planned. Despite it, every single moment was beautiful, they are so talented. FYI: Even though the dress was such a pain, it created beautiful circles around her when she danced. I loved the effect.
@sssana They weren't supposed to actually go on until two days later, so they weren't as prepared as they could have been, seeing as this was pushed into the night to allow as many dancers as possible to compete, as the final two days were cancelled due to covid-19.

The music is for the enneagram type 8 from Sleeping at Last wowowowowow good for them. For all the 8ths here keep going, you won't be let down, you're invincible.
I want the world to understand that she is changing dance. It's incredible to watch. Yes the dress needed some tailoring but you can she what they were aiming for and she reached it often, dress and all. I'd love to see her with a dance partner who meets her physically and emotionally on stage/in performance. Wow.

This dress is a disaster. It doesn't look good and keeps getting in their way constantly. But they both handled it with so much grace! I love how he removes it from his head around 0:46 the way he holds his fingers and moves to me music is splendid. Also she doesn't bat an eye when it gets caught in her heels. They are true professionals
i think the fabric looked cool when she spun, but it was not a good dress at all for dancing like this with lots of tricks. but they always recovered well :)

She's a much better dancer than he is. Charity and Andres were shining stars when they were dancing together. Nothing like this.
Probably because he took 2 years off of dance to serve a mission for his church while she could keep dancing through.
