- After losing all of her blood and hitting her head, Elena starts reminiscing about happier times when her parents and Aunt Jenna were still alive (which unfortunately is also when she was still dating Matt - at least some things have gotten better). While on the mission to dump Klaus's body in the Atlantic, Stefan gets called back to Mystic Falls to protect Elena after her injury. Meanwhile, Damon gets stuck hiding the body in a storage unit, where he of course runs into Evil-laric. Back in Mystic Falls, Caroline and Tyler prepare to leave town so the Council doesn't come for them. And to protect everyone she loves, Bonnie goes rogue with her magic but Rebekah has the same idea and does what she can to stop Alaric.

I know we all have been waiting for this episode, but let’s just take a moment to appreciate Sarah and Rachel!! They have put SO much work into the podcast and are so committed. I’m amazed everything week how great the episodes turn out because of their hard work. So let’s just all say “THANK YOU SARAH AND RACHEL!”
Ps, Sarah was not kidding about me sobbing while watching the ep. Sarah was hard away at work writing her notes for the episode while I was sitting next to her sobbing 😂 and if you hear sniffling during the last 30 minutes of the episode, that is me crying behind the camera haha
I love watching/listening to the podcasts. You can tell that both Sarah and Rachel are dedicated to making it great. I love their enthusiasm too. Even though, I'm not particularly a Delena shipper at this point, I love their love of the ship.
I loved it when damon was giving up on beating Alaric and once he had that flashback with Elena, it gave Damon the energy to fight. His love for Elena is so deep and powerful.
The reveal that damon was the one that actually met elena first was one of my favorite flashbacks in the show. The instant damon and elena met, they had so much more chemistry than any Stelena scene ever will. It also ties back in the pilot, when damon mentions elena even though viewers assume he didn’t meet her yet. This was such peak writing.

Sarah and Rachel really are incredible. really admirable. Not only do they do an incredible analysis of each episode, each scene, but they also know how to convey the emotions that are in those scenes.I laugh, I cry and I share many of the visions that they give, and many times I find myself surprised by details that escape me even though I am a rewatcher. Since English is not My natural language, I really feel lucky to be able to understand enough to be able to enjoy the podcast. Thank you girls!!!!! I'm looking forward to what's to come, new episodes and impactful seasons. As I said in another comment, you changed the way I see reactions to TVD.
The iconic phone call scene- even if she was choosing Stefan, the scene was all about Delena ❤❤❤ Angst .

😢 Oh baby, you don't have to un fell, you love him and you started feeling something for another person also, it's ok.
She never got to explore her feelings for Damon and her reason for loving Stefan is so sad.
But I love how she said to Matt- the problem is "DAMON".
It's like she would have never felt anything for any else if her love for Stefan was Forever kind ❤
Once she choose Damon, she never got back.😍 Also, her true self (prior to her parents death) got back, without any guilt.
Choice thing - i always what I will do for my loved ones in dangerous situation. Here its supernatural. So i am on Damon side.
Elena dying 🥺😭😭😭- i don't think Damon's reaction has much to do with Alaric. He knew what his weakening and dying meant the first second. He wasn't even fighting him to not to hurt Elena.
His love, life was dying, his heart was breaking for Elena. I think he already mourned Alaric last epis.
When You said " You don't have to unfell for him" reminds me of when Elena said she love Stefan but is IN love with Damon.

That´s a good point actually. Damon not fighting back hard enough not to hurt Elena. Made me think when Kat linked Elena´s body to hers and whatever she felt, they both did.
This was such a good episode!! I loved hearing your thoughts on it and I'm so excited for season 4 (especially as a delena shipper)
They could have had Rebekah stick around on the bridge to hinder Stephan’s rescue efforts or something but I suppose that would have ruined the beautiful cinematography. Maybe the director was choosing style over substance a bit in those scenes, but on the first watch it’s definitely beautiful and heartbreaking. Love the podcast girls ❤
every time I get to that phone call with delena in the finale it always makes me sob. Damon had a possibility of not making it out alive because of Alaric and the very last thought he had was if the girl he’s in love with had feelings for him before he got killed. I wish Elena chose damon in this scene, but I know elena wasn’t ready to reveal that part that loves him yet. She went back to Stefan because he was the safe choice and he was there when she needed him when her parents did. She still hasn’t admitted her feelings for damon yet. It’s so obvious that she loves Damon but she went with stefan under duress.

Thank you for another awesome episode, this finale hits harder than the season 2 one. I feel like we have to ignore logic when it comes to the Stefan not saving Elena because otherwise you just hate everyone in the scene. Matt for putting Elena in that situation, Stefan being a dummy again, Elena just wasting conscious time fighting instead of trying to get out....anyway just ignore and feel the tears. I cannot express what an impact that Delena scene had on me when I watched it and keep rewatching. It´s so full of wisdom and romantic undertones. Damon comes up in a new light but we knew how much of a romantic and loyal to the women he loves he really was/is. There is decency in him, we see that when he just as soon as he realizes it´s not Katherine just let´s Elena go. I love how messy it is, illogical even and just everyone making mistakes out of love, even if misguided. They all lost something this season and we will see how that will affect season 4. Can´t wait!
This episode was so good! I watched the show as it was aired weekly on the CW and since the beginning, I was waiting for Elena to eventually be turned into a vampire. She was dating one or two vampires at any given time, so it was bound to happen. And finally, finally, it happens. It still took me off guard and they made it so emotional and moving.
To think she turns in due to an accident on the same bridge that starts the series off. That was perfect! And then the flashbacks were perfection - going from stringing Matt along, talking to her mom and then the present day! It's great. Although she mentions she wishes she could talk to her mom about her current situation. It’s so sweet, but also the advice would be very different than what she’d want- likely something like “don’t date vampires”. But the sentiment is great.
Couple other side notes: I love Matt and Jeremy’s plan to kidnap/rescue Elena from this situation. I don’t blame them.
And they shouldn’t have been so hard on Jeremy for calling 911. What was he supposed to do? So many people he could’ve called weren’t in town. And head trauma/cerebral hemorrhage is no joke.
And Bonnie putting Klaus into Tyler’s body was shocking!!

I don’t know if this was done on purpose, but Elena says “ I have to let one of them go…” and after Matt asks “which one?” it immediately cuts to a shot of Stefan opening the door. Cinematically, it hints that she’ll eventually let Stefan go. I personally like to think the director was dropping hints without outright saying it, like “wink wink nudge nudge” haha!
Anyway, I liked what you guys had to say about Damon and Elena meeting first! Personally, it never really mattered to me who she met first, but you guys made me realize it has a bigger impact; it meant that Damon always looked at Elena as separate from Katherine and that Damon always had a fundamental understanding of who Elena was and what she really wants out of life.
My question is though, when he compels her, is the line “i want you to get everything you want out of life” part of the compulsion…? It always seemed like it was, so I thought that’s the reason Elena gave Stefan a chance was because she wanted passion and a little danger and Stefan kinda fit the bill in her mind. Of course she had other reasons, but it makes me wonder if Damon’s compulsion would have affected her to that degree. Obviously they didn’t plan for this since season 1, but it made me look at Stelena in a more negative light.

About the Elena death scene and Stefan not trying to save Elena too, and it was definitely the writers fault. I understand why they had to do it, they needed another nail in the coffin for Stelena so that Delena could flourish next season.
HOWEVER, I AGREE. They needed to add SOME sort of obstacle so he couldn’t save her. I think maybe a branch that was impaled during the crush making it so the seatbelt couldn’t move, or it trapped Elena.
Regardless, I highly doubt Stefan couldn’t have just took Matt out, gave him a lil vamp strength push to float up to the surface and THEN get Elena….
I just think the writers got it so wrong that Stefan would honor Elena’s decision to the extent that it meant her dying… ugh
I agree they should’ve given Stefan another reason/obstacle to show why he couldn’t realistically save Elena.
I’ve always seen Stefan agreeing with Elena no matter what as an overcorrection on Stefan’s part. He saw that taking Damon’s free will away kept them at odds for over a century. Stefan just lived through getting his own free will taken away by Klaus, leading to Stefan acting like an unhinged idiot who only wants revenge. Stefan even brings up free will to Matt earlier on. Stefan being so afraid that Elena may end up actually hating him for being so overprotective.. but Stefan also wanting to learn from past mistakes of being too selfish leads to this…Stefan going along with Elena’s choice to die for Matt Donovan.
Katherine said in S2 that Stefan getting himself locked in the tomb to save Jeremy was the biggest mistake he’s ever made (when it comes to his relationship with Elena)…I think it’s this one, though. Elena dying and becoming a vampire ruined any chance of Stelena being together for the long haul, imo.
I feel like a simple way to improve the death in the car scene is if stefan just pulled her seatbelt out and she died as he was doing that, or if she died as he was coming up in the water with both of them ,it would have been so much better

I wouldn’t be surprised if she had. As a doctor that was probably the first thing she thought of. She probably experienced the same thing that happened to Liz and never tried it again lol
As someone who works at a storage facility the scene where Alaric opens all the locks off the units all I can think about is how much work that would be to call all those people and tell them their units got broken into. Ona different note it’s kind of a plot hole that Klaus’s sire line doesn’t die because in originals esters whole plan is to put them in different bodies and then kill their original body to destroy the sire line so originals makes this whole storyline not really make sense
Alright, one more comment since you ended up asking for Stelena shippers to respond. Although I'm not a hardcore Stelena fan, I do really like them together. I think they can be sweet together. And the writers did Stefan dirty with him not saving Elena. On a rewatch, you realize it doesn't make sense for him to not save both Matt and Elena. I figure the writers needed one more avenue for drama between the love triangle. Because, aren't we supposed to believe that Stefan loved Elena? Him saving Matt over her doesn't show that. I like that he did save Matt too on her request... but letting her die in the process isn't believable.
And Damon meeting her first, I liked it... it was also a ret-con. Because no way do I believe that season 1 Damon wouldn't have done something more with Elena to mess with her. He is all about Katherine at that time, so no way does he say something that sweet to her upon their first meeting. We are supposed to believe he is humanity-less (ish) in first season. The writers did this because fans loved the Delena of it all during that time. (Season 1 Damon was a douche, but I did love his character for the drama and Ian of it all.)
So- the answer is bad writing/writers not remembering who their characters are supposed to be/act. Damon and Stefan couldn't help it.

On the rescue scene. I will never understand the argument in respecting her choice no matter what. There is just not a chance in hell I’d allow a person I loved to die over a friend or relative stranger. Matt is a good guy but sorry pal & sorry Elena but you’re coming with me. You guys are right though Stefan could have saved both with his vamp strength. However there is a scene in season 4 where Damon makes a silly joke to Elena about Vampires not being great at swimming. This was after he saved her again at the bridge. Maybe that was the writers way of trying to explain why Stefan struggled here?
