Expensive tiaras are often made to be convertible so they can be worn as necklaces, bracelets, brooches, earrings, etc. Princess Charlene of Monaco's tiara from 2011 is also a necklace, for example.

I LOVE watching this show! Even though she is American, she has a respect for the traditions and history for her Husband and his family. I feel she really wants to learn. Wonderful too, that she tries to incorporate her own American customs, but not in a "mine is better than yours" attitude. It is just such a joy to watch. And that Tiara! I bet she was taking that necklace off now that she knows....also looks like the two end pieces could be brooches.

Very true & I also give her in-laws some credit too. There are plenty of aristocratic British families that would be less than amused by the wife of the future Earl doing Bravo reality shows and yoga on TH-cam etc. Julie is very lucky to have found a lovely family that embraces her for who she is and doesn’t try to make her into something else...and they’re lucky to have found her too because she seems like lots of fun.

The tiara is absolutely stunning. For me it was made even more beautiful when you learned the history behind it. It made such total sense when she explained it. I would have loved to seen The tiara taken off its frame so you could have seen the necklace by itself. The jewelry of that time. Is just amazing and the way they constructed things was so unbelievably detailed. I love how you are so interested in your husband's family. If I lived there I would be so interested in the history of that family and that place. I have always loved portraiture of the early part of this century and before. I have also always wondered about the people in the portraits. What kind of lives did they leave and what did they see during that lifetime.

I have a real diamond tiara that I wear when I perform on concerts, and for special occasions. I bought it from England. It is from the Georgian period, and is very similar to the one in this video, but a bit smaller. I just love it. I also have an early 1900's paste tiara as well.

High end jewelry stores sometimes have them. Occasionally you can by them online at auction. I was fortunate and found mine on ebay from a jewelry store in England that carries them.

I was also struck by the strong family resemblance between your husband and the picture of your father-in-law as a young boy at the very end of the video.

Truly love that you didn't go totally anglophile. You love, display, & celebrate your Americanness. You seem like an absolutely lovely, inspiring woman; not because you married an aristocrat & heir, but because you renovate property, self educate, stay beautifully young through heathy choices, celebrate grace, manners, and don't exploit your kids for media money. Bravo!

Thank you for sharing the history behind the Montagu Tiara. Would love to see you produce more shows, like this, on the history of unique pieces of British jewelry. The stories behind the heirlooms are so enriching and animate the pieces far beyond their monetary value. Also, I appreciate your authentic nature that is full of enthusiasm and curiosity! You represent America with a dignity people don't often see in Americans on social media. Thank you!

Wow, that's a stunner, so belle epoque. This takes me back to the tiara exhibit at the V and A, twentyish years ago. On the opening night we all wore gowns and tiaras to it. At the time I had a stall at London's Greenwich Market selling hair accessories and I made custom tiara's. Geoffrey Munn has published a beautiful book on tiara's. Every girl needs at least one 😁

After Princess Margaret died, her children auctioned off a lot of her stuff at Christies and made a fortune. I went to the showing and you could touch and try on all the jewelry, except for her wedding tiara, which stayed in a glass case because they said it was too fragile and falling apart. I remember holding a small ruby necklace she'd worn as a child, and a choker necklace of big diamonds the size of large grapes. It was amazing. Everything went for many times the estimate.

Wonderful video. Lovely to see descendants of my ancestors (13th GGF - Sir Edward Montagu ~ 1485 to 1557) and learn about this part of the family in modern times. My line of descent is Montagu / North / Moss / Spears / Carmichael. We immigrated to the Colonies in the mid 1600's. I hope one day to get back across the pond and visit some of my ancestral seats.
