Lol sometimes there more potential in a motor and a frame ... then our love life ... ppl dont want to change ... but no matter how much u believe you cant ... with a motor or frame things get cut replaced removed... welded ... sooo it's easier process to deal with a bike ... lol or car ... then a woman esp if they spiteful like a run down car ... makes more sense to switch it up then put all the money .. esp if there is no potential in the motor...

I bought a Hayabusa 2002, abandoned since 2004 untouched. I did the same thing as you, oil and gas in the pistons and inlet, I washed her, new battery, new fuel pump an gas tank, and it worked. And I had a Katana 1100, 42,000km, perfect and clean engine. Suzuki engineering is the best of all.

I have a 2004 gsxr 600. I just smashed into a deer head on going 70 about two weeks ago. Got away with only a little road rash and a few bruised ribs. It destroyed all the fairings, headlight and bracket, bent the shifter. From what i can tell the front forks and frame are not bent. All i had to do to get it running again was soder a few wires on the harness. It started right up like nothing happened. Suzuki knows their stuff.

I rode a 2003 gsxr1000 as my only transportation for years, and I'll never forget the first time I got caught in the snow with it. I was on the highway and literally went from dry pavement to 4 inches of snow in an instant. My initial thought was "Oh shit...." but it turns out it handled it better than most cars I have driven. I think Suzuki 03 to 06 were the best GSXRs made. I recently bought a 2022 Suzuki GSXR 1000 R and the new bike is amazing! Handling and breaking are much better than my 05. The 05 engine has more power down low up to about 8000 RPMs. After 8000 the new bike easily takes it. I think if you could upgrade suspension and breaking on the older 1000 they would be better than the new ones.

As most know, gas is surprisingly harder to ignite than one would think. I had a single cylinder in this same shape except when I turned it over the fuel spraying from the cylinder got a spark from the coil wire and turned into a flame thrower fast. Lucky I had an extinguisher near. Taking the time to get the water out properly is key..

How about the 2002 K1 how's that one? I've heard that the K ones are better than the new ones for some reason.

K1 and k3 aralmost same engine. Minor diferences. K1 has 16bit ecu and k3 32bit and better engine head ventilation.

I agree it's a bad ass bike. But. Living in Maine. I've seen 20 sunk boats cars snowmobiles 4 wheelers ect. 9 times out of 10. If you clean them out as quick as possible after pulling from the water. They are fine.

We had a TVR Tuscan engine fill with water on the dyno because the headgasket blew. We took the plugs out and turned it over and it was like a super size water cannon. The engine ran again in 2hrs.

Can anyone verify if BMW bought a K5 GSX-R1000, tore it down into pieces, and re-engineered the powerplant with their own improvements and changes as the basis for the S1000RR when it came out in 2009?
