  • When reporting on an EEG it is very important that the electrodes have been put in the correct “10-20” places. This is because the recording channels measure the difference between pairs of electrodes.
The closer they are together the smaller the signal and if they are not even this makes it impossible to know if the activity is normal.
Probably the most important aspect of obtaining a good EEG (after rubbing the scalp enough) is putting the electrodes on the “right” places.
After putting all the electrodes on do the following to quickly check if they are equally placed.
Start with just right hand, but with a bit of practice it is possible to use the left hand at the same time to check left side.
Stand in front of the patient and look at the FP1 / Fp2 electrodes - are they about 2 cm above the eyebrows and straight above each eye?
Make a “C” shape with thumb and first finger.
Put your left thumb on Fp2 and first finger on F8.
Without changing the position of your thumb/finger put thumb on F8 and your first finger should be on T4.
Again move thumb onto T4 and first finger should be on T6.
Do the same with thumb on T6 and first finger should be on O2. Try using both hands to check each side together.
    Repeat with Fp2 - F4; F4-C4; C4-P4; P4-O2 and the other side as well.
This will result in evenly spaced electrodes giving a much easier recording to report on.
This is what the correct placement looks like.

Bruh I’m just here tryna find different shapes for electrodes to pass ⚡️ through💧 and I guess I stumbled upon some sorta lore for SAO or the matrix.
