    In the middle of a mowing session and with weather cooling and closing the chord broke at mid-point. I quickly sourced some suitable materiel to change out the remaining part.
    Having replaced the chord, my mower had one pull and restarted, however without the pretensioning it all stayed outside the housing. So next job is to complete, as shown, the proper spooling this time under tension! Many thanks.

    I don't normally leave comments on videos like these but this works if you have a mower similar to what he is working on in the video.! I'm About to continue mowing my lawn now after the cord snapped thanks to this video. I thank God for engineering and for the engineers of small and big engines. Thumbs up from me.

    This does work. THanks for the video. I melted the knot on both ends with a candle to make sure they didn't untie. You should tie the handle before you rewind the rope so you can skip the temporary knot step.

    Lightweight is good and what did I use it for it’s a lawnmower th-cam.com/users/postUgkxTPN04aT-Qdjr_KS3ql7ng8wnU3wwsCqk also recommend Yes it is lightweight so hence not as robust as our old one. But if you take care it does the job really well.

    Bought this for my small back deck in the Eastern Sierra. th-cam.com/users/postUgkxoHYZbq5g9fkcAtinlTqstNlje-UQkCHN We get A LOT of HEAVY snow so I was a bit skeptical but it was worth it! After the first storm of the year this has exceeded expectations! It throws snow very well, even 10-12” + that said the more it piles up the harder it is to maneuver the machine. It is exceptionally light weight and overall exactly what I was looking for. If you have a large amount of snow and a lot of area to clear, you may consider something with a drive engine to help maneuverability, but for decks, second stories, roofs etc, you can’t beat the light weight to great snow throwing ratio. Side note, the chute rotator is a bit flimsy and it initially didn’t seem to work, after a few uses it seems to have loosened up.

    Thanks for the video and information. I had never done this before and had no clue what I was in for. I have a Troy-Bilt with a B&S 550-EX which is a little different from the Honda you show but the concept is the same and it worked perfectly. After buying the new pull cord ($4.50) from Lowes it took less than 15 minutes to change - disassembly to install. I even hummed the eHow tune as I was doing the work.

    Great video… watched it once, went to the hardware store, came back home and fixed in about 15 minutes. The only challenge I had was the replacement cord was glued or melted at the end which made it difficult to insert into the hole. I taped the end with transparent tape really tight then cut the end. This allowed me to insert really easy. Thanks for the help.

  • @alleneasler
    @alleneasler 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Thank you!!! Made my life so much easier.
    If the end of the cord is frayed, wrap the end with a little bit of tape to make it easier to insert. I ended up threading some fishing line through it as well, tied it to the rope, and then pulled the fishing line to help guide the rope through the spool hole.

    Thx for the help. My pulley assembly was riveted down so i had to finagle a bit to get it through. Worked best going the opposite way in instead. Guess I couldve drilled out the rivets and replaced em with bolts and nuts but didnt look like itd be that hard to do. Wouldve been easier too with some really narrow tipped needle nose pliers or the like but managed to eventually and very slowly work it in or rather out

    This was exactly just what I needed. I have a different model, but it didn't matter, you made it easy to figure out how to recoil the darn string.I fought with this mower for over 3 hours, then went to bed, stressed out, because I have to mow my yard. My neighbors were doing it for me in exchange for parking their trailer on my property, but haven't in a while and the city will fine me if I leave it too long. Well, between a broken foot, and a weedeater, I didn't get very far, after I discovered the last handyman that borrowed my mower, must have broken the pull string and didn't tell me.so I go to mow, and no string, nothing. I am tired, and stressed, and look on youtube, and find dozens of complex solutions and how to also tear the mower apart. Well ,i was fearless, and did it myself because I figured, it'd cost me $300+ to buy another one, money I don't have, and so, well if this one was broken, well all I could do is either fix it or break it a little more. and if I couldn't fix it, it was trash anyway. so, after searching for someone who had the pull string online, I went and got it. (Home depot)(Lowes, couldnt' find it, but they may have it but maybe I didn't know the right verbage). Anyway. I got up because I couldn't sleep well, and went to the garage. I discovered the coil was bent out too far, so it couldn't hold a coil, and that was problem #1, plyers bent it inward, so it'd catch and stay catched so it could coil. I had to watch this video, because other ones, couldn't make sense of how to coil the wire up inside. This one seemed wayyyyy.... tooo easy, but what the heck try it anyway. Walllah.... It worked. then I just reassembled the various parts. of which i fortunately remembered how they came apart. though another video had same model and showed how to disassemble and assemble, so I could find it again ...I think(though the string coiling was complicated on that one.), Anyway, put the whole thing back together, and pulled and wallahh... it tried to start! Now I think I just need some gas! Horray.... Well its 2:01 am, so I shall wash up and go back to bed! Not bad I have to say, for a lady, who's never tried her hand at any kind of mechanical repairs before!
    Thank you!

    • @williamstamper442
      @williamstamper442 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah except this video did nothing at all when it comes to talking about re-connecting the recoil spring so either you watched another video or spouting out your pie hole. I'm glad you were able to fix your mower and get it done. Ain't no joke when the city comes by and fines a person for grass above 6 inches tall.

    I’m 52 and with the help of this video, fixed my lawnmower cord by myself. Seriously, I had no idea how to do this. I was even able to use my existing cord since it broke off at the knot. Thanks for the guidance!
