Adding to previous question, is it necessary to lock stitches if you plan to ‘hide’ thread tails but necessary to lock stitches if just trimming threads?
If you're knotting and hiding tails you likely DON'T want to lockstitch, because you want all the stitches to look the same length and therefore be an invisible splice.
Hi, I am 95 percent done with my fourth quilt and first free motion quilt. I started seeing my purple bobbin thread on the top of my quilt and pink thread on the bobbin of quilt. I tried adjusting it but no change.
If you’re seeing both at the same time it may just be showing through the needle holes and not incorrect tension at all. Finer needle may help, but this is one of the reasons I like closely matching thread top and bottom.
If you're knotting and hiding tails you likely DON'T want to lockstitch, because you want all the stitches to look the same length and therefore be an invisible splice. So I would just pull generous tails to use for knotting.
Great video! thank you for posting these, I am getting great content for long arm quilting!
Hi Susan thank you for your time!
You are so welcome!
Highly recommend masterclass! It was wonderful. I'm going through it a second time.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Thank you for replying regarding bobbin thread showing up on top of quilt. I will be sewing binding on today.
Susan. Thank you for sharing all your knowledge.
You are so welcome!
Good info! Thank you Susan!
Do you clean your tracks, etc before each quilt?
Good morning. I do lock stitches, but I always bury the thread instead of cutting them on top. Is there a difference between the two?
Just preference. Snipping is faster but burying prevents little tiny tails.

Would you use same method of locking stitches when ‘hiding’ thread tails in quilt layers or just trim threads?

This snippet was a little softer than before. I checked my side and every thing is at the highest level. But still too softer.
