All you need is a finance minister who knows basic economics and maths. 6 billion dollar ke loan ke liye pakistani rupiye ki value aadhi kar di. Tumhe mila 6 billion dollar. Lekin jo 30 billion karz bakaya tha IMF ka ab uski value 60 billion ho gayi. Liya 6 billion vapas karoge 60 + 6 x2 = 72 billion dollar. Aur jo oil and gas import karte ho uski bhi price double hogaye. In short amreeka ne chutiya kaat diya tumhara

As an Indian, I am delightfully surprised to find your podcast. Pakistan needs hundreds of thousand people like you, it is also deeply depressing to note that despite knowing where the problems lie little is being done at the governmental level to address these issues. Agricultural income is not taxable in India either, but agriculture employs 55% of the manpower while contributing 17% of the GDP, so the rationale for India keeping agricultural income out of income tax is different. Why agricultural income is exempt from income tax in Pakistan? that has historical reasons. The unfortunate part is that the ruling elites have known this and yet done nothing to address this issue.
As an Indian, I had high hopes from Imran Khan just like the Pakistan army did. But two factors have determined his failure till now. With his mass appeal, he could have worked to bring in a totally new more representative class of legislators in his party. He chose the shortcut of bringing in the same discredited lot in PTI who were such dregs in other parties. Second, the vendetta against political rivals like Navaz Sharif and Bhuttos should have been kept in the back burner while facing the economic crises. This is a time to work with everyone because Pakistan is facing an existential economic crisis despite having a strong military. In today's world, only economically viable states survive.
And lastly, the 1000 pound gorilla in the room is the all-pervasive influence of the Pakistan army in governance. So long as it produces leadership which follows the same old dictums there is little hope, however, most oppressive systems have also produced enlightened leaders. So who knows maybe in future a group of really patriotic Corps Commanders and army chief may come to the fore who would not set their first priority as getting their children settled abroad, making investments in Dubai or Australia or the US and simultaneously owning huge tracts of farmlands and residential plots in defense societies. But this time the crises for Pakistan is different and altogether too daunting if the same old tactics are followed by the army led leadership, the consequences would be tragic not only for Pakistan but whole of South Asia. But let us hope for the best.

The Indian economy is NOT sinking, it has just slowed down. Let that sink in, India is still growing, but slower. Pakistan's economy is sinking.
But your response is symptomatic of Pakistan's problems. The original poster's comment was well meant, but your response was "no business of yours, write about your own". This smacks of arrogance and is a reason why Pakistan gets no sympathy internationally.
The slowdown in India's economy is actually a good thing: it is happening because the previous growth was being driven by corruption, starting from the real estate sector where black money was being pumped in. The current anti-corruption drive is taking effect, so naturally it's effect is to strike first at real estate, the first driver of the growth of India.
We don't need growth like that, where the ordinary Indian is priced out of the real estate sector, so this slowdown is good, and indication of the cleanup drive taking effect. In any case the economy is already showing signs of turning around, the Indian stock market is already reflecting that.
Pakistan economy's problems are much deeper and systemic and MUCH harder to fix.

I watched this and I liked it. Congrats to the anchor. And Uzair is an epitome of clarity and uncluttered thinking. What was refreshing, especially for an Indian, is the focus on genuine issues, so very crucial for Pakistan. If only Pakistan takes a break on all other matters including religion at the national level, (of course at a personal level religion is a great thing for moral strength of character) for 5 years and targets just in doing the few right things in a focussed manner with commitment and compassion, the country will have a quantum leap. They'll probably relieve themselves completely of the shackles which they have wound themselves into, being obsessed with the world outside rather than focussing within. More and more of such deliberations will definitely help Pakistan.

My Suggestion for Pakistan Economy :
    1. Give India POK Back, Demand 6 Billion Dollar as repatriation.
    2. CPEC Will change to CIPEC which will be much more trustable to the global investors.
    3. Do a Free Trade Deal with India.
See the points, Just 3 Points. The economy of Pakistan will grow to $3 Trillion in just 8 Years from current $236.478 billion (nominal, FY19 provisional).

Sadly things changed when Zia ul Haq came into power. The economy fell down and after 9/11 country got completely bankrupt. So, it's not POK or a relationship with India. Great program and discussion Junaid. The story of that father who sits at the school for 6 hours, because the roads are so bad that it wouldn't be worthwhile to go to work while his daughter is in school, was really telling about the economic challenges of under development - the short term and long term economic and societal costs are tremendous. The government needs to build the "road to prosperity" for the Aam Admi in Pakistan. Also, in terms of taxes, I remember when income taxes in India were very high (above 50 %) and the average tax payer asked the same question - what am I getting for these high taxes I'm paying. Over time the taxes got reduced, and people started thinking why do I want to be on the wrong side of the law, I might as well pay the taxes and sleep well at night. The voters kept voting for governments that would use those taxes for infrastructure (roads, ports, hospitals, schools etc), and over the last 25 years the impact has been exponential for India, its thinking, and its attitude towards being engaged in the global and Indian economy. Unfortunately, you will need to come out of the IMF constraints before structural changes (in taxes code) can be made, but never lose hope since tomorrow brings another day to make a change and start walking on the road towards prosperity. Lastly, your guest made a very good suggestion regarding "what should young people in Pakistan invest in" when he said they should invest their time in reading; reading various things engages you with ideas, thoughts, and the world where you may get inspired and stir your passion to do something life changing for yourself, your family, and your country.

3 months to this video and Pakistan's economy is better than ever Alhamdulillah. The expert doesn't seem to be a good expert or maybe it was just a biased opinion rather than an economy analysis.
