Hi! I am from Zamboanga City, a kid that grew up speaking Chavacano and I believe Chavacano will never be forgotten although not studied. Big percent of the population of Zamboanga City can speak chavacano fluently and even though they can't speak fluently but still they understand it.
I'm a Tausug but I know how to speak Chavacano. Zamboangenyo Chavacano to be specific.. I was born at Jolo but I started schooling at Zamboanga. The difference between Cavite and Zamboanga, when the chavacano dialect is concern, is that Zamboanga City really uses Chavacano every day. When you go to pueblo(Town proper), almost all can speak chavacano fluently and even the city officials would highly encourage all the people of zamboanga to speak chavacano. That's maybe why the chavacano in cavite is slowly dying out, which I think is a loss. Being a person who can understand and speak chavacano, I' am quite proud of it and I have grown to it. And I' am a proud that I can speak a language that some of the zamboangenyos speak in the old days.
Chabacanos are blessed. I am trying hard to learn Spanish but it is inspiring that some of my fellow Filipinos speaks Spanish as their mother tongue. I wish to live with them. :)
Am learning Spanish too. And the good news is that my aunt lives in Zamboanga; however we live apart. Though there is a Chabacano Bible in my uncle's bookshelf, it's still hard to read.

'Tis sad that few people in Cavite these days speak the language. My maternal relatives speak Chavacano, and I do make an effort to learn the language more or less at my own pace. The situation with Chavacano also reminds me of the controversy with Irish usage being put by the wayside in favour of English in Ireland. Some felt this resulted in a loss of cultural identity, and it is the same thing with Chavacano.

Hey for the native speaker of chavacano. I suggest to work in a BPO industry or call center in Spanish and english language. It gives you a good carrer and a GOOD pay. Saludos desde Manila y muchas gracias por tú video.

Wow galing
'Tis sad that few people in Cavite these days speak the language. My maternal relatives speak Chavacano, and I do make an effort to learn the language more or less at my own pace. The situation with Chavacano also reminds me of the controversy with Irish usage being put by the wayside in favour of English in Ireland. Some felt this resulted in a loss of cultural identity, and it is the same thing with Chavacano.
es como el español el chabacano aún hay una esperanza para el español en Filipinas
Bien bueno, bravo mio amigo.
I am from Zamboanga city and I am so happy that in our city hindi nawawala ang CHAVACANO. Eto talaga yung ginagamit namin dito pero nakaka sad lang na nawawala na siya diyan sa CAVITE.
