Don’t know if anyone will see this, but I think Ultron lasering Thanos in half is predicated on how Thor was able to get the axe in his chest in Infinity War. Like Thanos totally had the ability to have a force field, make himself an illusion, wear more armor than just a tank top. But he didn’t. He was arrogant enough to think that nobody would just make a decisive killing blow. So Ultron did the logical thing and immediately went for the kill shot, just in case that might work, and crazy enough, it did.

I think the "In your universe" argument for who the Watcher is talking to might not go that deep. The intro for every episode in the series includes the Watcher saying "I am *your* guide through these vast new realities". He's essentially telling tales to those who are only familiar with the original MCU Sacred Timeline, i.e. the audience, or, if you wanna stretch it, a denizen of that main timeline. It likely isn't meant to be taken literally and doesn't have anything to do with Strange. The Watcher is basically Rod Serling up until Ultron realizes he and the multiverse are physical things. Could even say it's teasing the fourth wall a little bit.
Of course, Infinity Corn of Coblin will put all arguments to bed when he shows up next week

The way I see it, Thor caught Thanos off guard with all the infinity stones and managed to land his axe in his chest.
Iron Man was able to physically overpower Thanos for a few moments.
Mantis was able to subdue his mind.
It's just making clear, he's dangerous, but not invincible.
You can catch him off guard, hit him hard enough to Injure him, behead him, slice his arm off etc etc
Hes not invincible with the stones either, he has to use them first.
Many Marvel characters are strong enough to kill him.
It more or less confirms to me the reason Thanos didn't just take the stones right away. Because he'd be killed, so he made a plan. He also gave Loki the mind stone so it would be closer to the others. But Thanos would have to be brain dead to try and kill the ancient one without a good plan.

Things that we never got to see active in the previous movies, destined to become active later down the line, that we'll have to wait to see appear in later films. Some intense backdoor foreshadowing beyond what we've gotten, which was really just Captain Carter, who just gets killed in MOM

Honestly Marvel has been trying to redeem the weaker movies for a while. Loki made a big deal about Thor Dark World following Avengers Endgame. We've had a revisit of the Incredible Hulk in a previous ep of What If along with various cameos of characters from that movie in other things. Obviously Age of Ultron here. I'm surprised we didn't get an Ironman 2 cameo yet.
Re: Thanos, I was fine with a defeat for the Mad Titan, it's Ultron's "comic" after all. The problem was when Thanos did that move triumphantly warping in Infinity War...he already had his Black Order and entire army on the field. He wasn't just strolling in about to get jumped. Now if Ultron hacked Thanos' ship and his Chitauri and that's why suddenly Thanos (a genius and master strategist) found himself alone and surprised...maybe that would be better.

@GiRayne Different courses for different horses. I felt it either needed to have half the characters and stories offloaded into different movies/shows so we could have a tight story be told, or it needed to be split into two movies. Things that explain why the Tony that basically quit being IM in IM3 and destroyed his suits is now in charge of an entirely autonomous Iron Legion and back in the suit. And that's just one storyline. And for me, I'm used to a premier team like the Avengers, or X-men, or JLA, or JSA, breaking up into smaller groups to achieve different goals or stories.

    • @0741921
      @0741921 2 ปีที่แล้ว

@GiRayne I agree, I think it was a great film, sure, a little bloated but still great. Most complaints come from expectations due to the comic book, but as a normal fan that isn’t an issue. I felt age if ultron was much mire beautiful cinematically as opposed to the og avenger which looks visually ugly and cartoonish. Like you said, it’s also the only movie where it’s a fixed team and will be the last avengers movie because the universe is just way too big now so even if they have a smaller roster in the next movie, you will be left wondering why the other heroes aren’t there. Finally, the movie was a launchpad for many other marvel movies like civil war, ragnorok, and even Wanda vision. I just wish we had mire if ultron as opposed to him being a one time thing

I had a couple of issues with this episode:
If Ultron can take out Thanos without even trying, surely Vision could as well, so why didn't he in Infinity War?
Edit: you brought it up, I agree there is too much Worfing of Thanos in this series
If Thanos can snap half the Universe out of existence, then why doesn't Ultron snap all of the Universe. He goes to war with everyone when he could have won with just a thought
    Edit again:
The names in Russian on the folders are as follows:
Peter Bertucci - Art Department coordinator for Marvel until Aug 2021
Paul Lasaine - Production Designer for What If
Sintiya (I think Cynthia?) khallei (Kelly maybe?) - can't find this one Final Edit: I think this is Cynthia Halley, the kh sound CAN be a harsh H sound, and a woman of that name worked on What If

I think in the comics the stones are not so limited as to just their name. People with real mastery can do anything with any of the stones. But yeah we only got that one combo with Thanos using the Space and Power stones to reach out and crush a moon to toss at Stark and crew on Titan. Honestly any major effect should have been one stone (depending on what you were doing) and either Power or Reality to signify where the juice was coming from.
