Again tho why on earth he wasn't used in the 2nd half of the movie until the big reveal scene still confuses me.. Like literally after this scene Mickey isn't seen again until 45 minutes later when he reveals himself. I still don't understand that logic I mean it would have made perfect sense to have him in the park scene when Randy is killed by having him pretend to search down the killer on the phone with the others just so it throws suspicion off of him and still keeps him in the movie

I just love this guy. Probably my favorite ghostface. I think he his honestly moved by Derek's performance and genuinly likes him. But he's got his big trial project to do so his friends have to die for him to become what he his supposed to be.

The scene would only be corny if it took itself too seriously. There’s an unspoken self awareness about it that shouldn’t make it ‘corny’ at all
I do find it kind of sad if you’ve watched the film. I think you can infer Mickey probably told Derek to do something like this and give up his necklace in order to lead to his hazing and later murder.

In 2005, this movie replayed at a theatre in my hometown when my husband and I were and still dating. This was our favourite scene! Even now as 28 year olds with kids we STILL LOVE IT!

@Ben N. Mickey is a man in his late thirties relying on the mother of a murderer just to pretend play college student. Just so he can end up (possibly) in jail and attempt to profit off the trial. Look from that perspective. He literally was so useless to society that he had to resort to murder in order to make sense of life’s purpose. He could have just took the damn money and ran and turned her in for conspiracy for murder.
What's even creepier is that he kills every character present in this scene (Derek, Hallie and the two officers), except Sidney.

I love the scream movies, and even though the last one fell a bit flat to the rest, they do one thing right. There isnt a moment in the rest of the series where you see sydney this happy. Thats sad and absolutely brilliant story telling. Makes me love the movies that much more silly as it sounds.

This may imply that Sidney moved on from his death in the decade since it occurred, or the necklace was simply lost.

Derek was truly a better boyfriend than Billy. And I'm not just saying that because Billy tried to kill Sidney. Throughout the first movie in which Sidney did still love Billy, she did not seem as happy as she was here. I mean, the only time she ever did really smile when she was with Billy in the first movie was when she flashed her boob at him. Based on the first 4 movies, this scene here shows the happiest Sidney ever was. She never had a smile this big on screen. This scene alone proves that Derek was perfect for her. In the original script, however, Derek was supposed to be one of the killers. But since somebody leaked the script, they had to change Derek's role in the story. Either that or Kevin Williamson wrote various scripts to fool anyone who leaked it. And honestly, it was for the best. I'm glad Derek wasn't a person and was good all along. I really liked his character. But it is unfortunate that he died in the end. I know Sidney meets that Mark guy in the third movie, but there just wasn't really enough to make me like him for a love interest for Sid. And I know he's probably the same Mark that Sidney is married to in the fifth film in which is also the father of her three children.If they decide to show Sidney and Mark's youngest child in the future or at least mention the child, I think they should say it's a boy and they named him after Derek.

Mickey is hands down my favourite killer of the franchise. He's way more terrifying than people give him credit for. Able to look like the caring friend while preparing to end their lives, able to manipulate his friends with no real hint of mental instability and was able to use Sidney's trauma to the extent that she was afraid she was going insane and couldn't trust those closest to her. Dude was a total psycho.

Originally, Mickey was the one supposed to dance in this scene, singing "I Wanna Dance with Somebody" by Whitney Houston in which he's declaring his love for Hallie. This was supposed to set up later for him getting stripped to his underwear and tied up by the greek brothers like how Derek was and Mickey would be killed by Derek and Hallie who are the real killers. I'm glad they changed it.

Judging by the build it looks like Mickey had the best build for ghostface, he was also wielding the knife and striking it faster then other ghostface, I also think his the most brutal one yet

Romam was my favorite ghostface because of how he cleverly set up the events that lead to the first film and the second and finally the third even though he lead himself to his own demise.
This was my favorite part of the movie it's wholesome it's sweet and its nice to have a moment like that in a scary movie

This is why I like or maybe even loved watching scream and especially scream 2. It took the time to develop it's characters and their stories which most slasher flick's barely or don't even bother to do. That was a huge problem for me with the last two. Like in Scream 3 I didn't even care what happened to any of them besides the three main characters. The 4th movie did improve a little but not much. Scream 2 though will always be my favorite mainly because of this scene right here.
I agree, Scream 4 had the tension again because they reduced the comedy and the side characters had more screentime (they still shouldn't have cut a lot of scenes). In Scream 5 despite introducing us to the new group, they don't get enough screentime to make us really care about them, except for a few characters like Samantha, Chad and Mindy, i still like what they did with them in the 6 part, you really care about them.
I always thought this scene was really cute, and I feel like the cringe-factor was 100% intentional. It's the sort-of corny, over-the-top romantic gesture a guy that age might make even though it's super embarrassing. It adds some levity to the film and also increases the tragedy of his eventual death.
