Courteney Cox was so perfect as Gale Weathers that when Scream came out in the theaters, I never for one second thought I was watching Monica in a horror movie.
@@JenniferBrigitteOpticalVortex - watching Courtney’s reaction every time he speaks is painful. Their “Scream” story was adorable and added something special, until they divorced. Now, look at the body language. No talking points from Drew on that subject, but can you imagine if Drew had the audacity to ask, “So, Courtney… why did you and Dave divorce?”
They all have done an incredible job on these films, but Drew, at only 20 years old did an exceptionally incredible job! Her 1 scene is ICONIC and she pulled off such a dramatic role so well! So believable to this day.
I loved her in ET and in scream and in everything else. And I loved scream, went to see it in cimena when I was in elementary school with my friend and we were terrified👻 🙈
@@JenniferBrigitteOpticalVortex - 1996 Scream… what a fun era, just before 9/11, just before social media took over, before identity politics and woke Hollywood, before this fake resurgence of racism, before the new Star Wars films, and before Disney bought up the entire world, before every film was about a costumed super hero 😂… it was a golden time!
She has stated in the past during interviews that David is still her very best friend, even if their marriage did not work out. I love their friendship and working relationship, too.
She’s also the first person to say “period” on TV in a tampon commercial and her dance as the main girl in Springsteen’s music video inspired The Carlton Dance. She’s a true Hollywood icon.
I think Drew forever gave horror the biggest shock scene of all time. Who would have thought the biggest star in the film would be wiped out in the first setting?? Totsl masterpiece!
Alfred Hitchcock did it with Psycho with Janet Leigh (Jamie Lee Curtis’ mom). Even if Scream didn’t do it first, it was absolutely genius of Drew to convince Wes and the producers to allow her character to be killed off.
@@ereagan4 yes also a masterpiece. One of my favorite films ever. But we’re talking about killing in the first SCENE. The biggest star at that time on the entire cast, even on the poster board. I’m sure a lot of fans were expecting her to be throughout the movie.
Everytime I watch Scream 3 I remember being in the theater and the first time they show Courtney on screen as Gale with the bangs, some girls a few rows back were all like "ewww/ughhhh". I still hear it in my head everytime i see that first shot of her.
sheesh, what about scream 6? besides being a financial issue, to me it worked very well to the development of the framchise and even to sydney's development
There's a lot of history in this clip. Courtney and David were married and they have a daughter Coco. Also, seeing those audience members wearing the Ghost face masks reminds me of Scream 2 where Jada Pinket Smith's character gets...well...you know!!! 🔪🩸
It’s honestly so amazing of Drew to always highlight the franchise, especially while the marketing of Scream (2022) is ongoing.😁❤️Taking that genre stigma out of the gutter. Horror rocks! Get everyone in Ghostface masks!😆

Who would have Drew and then kill her right away? No one would do that.” And, BOOM. The movie sucked you in. From that point forward, everything changed, and I never again relaxed with any character…..in ANYthing. All bets were off…..forever. Honestly, it was like “Who shot JR?”…..but on steroids. I think Drew was supposed to play the main character, but she was the one who suggested to Wes Craven that it was better for her to play the girl who died in the beginning, exactly for that reason.
I agree with everything you said as far as it being a surprise and iconic but actually it was done prior in the movie Psycho. Janet Leigh was the star of the movie and it was shocking at that time for her character to be killed off as well and in such a violent way.

Great interview Drew. Seeing this iconic "Scream" trio of Neve, Courteney, and David being interviewed together again is quite a treat. Can't wait to see "Scream (2022)" this weekend. Always liked Courteney Cox. She does come off a bit serious, little awkward, and sometimes nervous in her live interviews, but those quirks I really like about her off-screen personality. She will always be remembered for her two (2) iconic character roles during the mid-1990''s, through 2000's, and now 2022: Monica Geller on the iconic "Friends" TV sitcom and Gale Weathers in the iconic "Scream" movie franchise....🤩👍🎞🎬 📆
Such an ICONIC trio! This interview is just one of many reflections of the movie's success. I don’t think drew Barrymore understands how scary and iconic her scene was… like regardless of the whole franchise, her scene was phenomenal! She should’ve won something from that.
The way Neve said she’s glad she signed on to “this one” makes me think she’s been approached in the past about roles relating to scream and she just didn’t feel right about it.
I'm So ready for this New Film just hearing Neve saying it's an Good Movie And Us Fans wont be disappointed! Thank you Mat and Tyler for Bringing back Wes Cravens Iconic slasher Franchise!!
Quite the memorable career accomplishments in showbiz for Courteney Cox. Starring as Gale Weathers in venerable "Scream" horror movies franchise, playing Monica Geller in the iconic "Friends" TV sitcom, then along with being recognized in her prime as one of the most beautiful women in world.
Hell, of course she wouldn't. Drew was an undeniable part of why the first movie was so shocking and successful. The opening scene is iconic because of her.
