I have been working for Accenture as a software developer for over five years. The length of each project varies. I had a project that lasted for over four years and I had another project that lasted for a year. The number of hours a person works each week depends on the project. For each of my projects, I worked between 40 - 45 hours per week. I would work on some weekends. After you get hired by Accenture, you are put on the bench. While you are on the bench, you need to find a project. You can spend time in training, but finding a project is your first priority. Before you start to work on a project, you have to get interviewed by the client. If you pass the client's interview, you can work on the client's project. If not, you have to find another project.
I have been on three one-week business trips. I've been to Denver twice and to India once. (I live in California.)

This video was very informative! I think it would have been helpful to have some insight into firms outside of Big 4 and Accenture, especially the highly competitive firms like McKinsey, Bain & Co., and BCG. They’re also well known, but their interview processes and work/life balance are more intense, and it would have been cool to get perspectives from both Big 4 and MBB.

I've always felt there's no reason to be middled by your "pimp" If not for the perks of having a talent management rep with a vested interest in keeping me staffed and the peace of mind I get knowing I'd be on the bench and have a week or two to react if ever I were rolled off before being squished like a cockroach rather than right away.

I started working at PwC right after I graduated, it's a great place to challenge yourself and learn more. Co workers can be quite rude and demanding, but I think it depends on your line of business, team or location/country. Pro tip: Take action during your university years by choosing majors that provide value in a consulting environment, be proactive about internships, use your college's career development opportunities, and don't be afraid to reach out to your network.

Wow I just made a video on this same topic! I currently work in Consulting and always get questions about it. Great seeing other perspectives!

Just found your channel while searching for videos about consulting! Thank you SO MUCH for this video. This 45 mins of discussion was so valuable. I am Psychology B.A candidate, in my senior who is interested in Industrial Organizational Psy and consulting. I was desperate to find more real life experience in consulting and having all of your stories were really helpful for someone who is considering industry while still in college. Great work, followed!

Hey Natalie, I am a consultant myself but the area where I am lacking is I have a hard time finding customers willing to pay, or customers with money. I have an MBA in finance and fund management, and I'm also a molecular biologist and microbiologist. I specialize in end to end business consulting, I focus in operations and manufacturing, quality assurance, FDA and other regulatory compliance such as OSHA. CFR, USDA, ISO standards, etc. I keep finding cheapskate customers who love my work but want it for free, or people who love your work but can't afford it. How do YOU overcome this challenge, or how do you find qualified customers? Maybe you can do a vlog just on that.
