The thing is, passion projects like this usually have a proof of concept. Network/studio executives usually don't bite unless there's a huge amount of reception like this. It's the best and smartest way to get a series/film on the table. Much more effective than a elevator pitch (a pitch that would take the same amount of time as an elevator ride).

Alanah said he was offered the movie back in the day when they first were gonna make it but he turned it down cause he thought he was too big for a video game movie. Now he’s too old and probably burned his bridges when he turned it down.

Before the short film, I couldn't imagine Nathan Fillion as anyone other than Richard Castle because that's the only role I had seen him play. And even though I could see his striking resemblance to Nathan Drake, I found it hard to actually imagine him in the role of Nathan Drake. Now that I've watched him in the role, I can't even remember Richard Castle! He looks to me like Nathan Drake from Uncharted 4 jumped right out of the game and into real life!!!

To those of u saying Nathan fillion shoulda been Nathan drake on the uncharted movie. They can still do it in the sequel. Since the movie is a prequel to the games, where Nathan is still young, for the bits where it’s like uncharted 4 with old Nathan, they could go with Nathan fillion
You naive to think that lol, a sequel will only come out if Tom hollands one does very very well and they won't drop Tom at that point because it will be a risk to the franchise and their financial hopes. They only playing it off as a younger drake to try and get audiences into it. The scenes and storyline is of an older drake..not young drake.
They had the perfect cast for Nathan Drake and decided to go with Tom Holland :-(

I always thought Uncharted was a game adaptation to Nathan Fillion, cause that dude looks like he was modeled after him.

My sole wish for this decade is that Nathan gets to play a grown up Nathan in a film about Nathan. Which, of course, features a big adventure and action and stuff.
But yeah...
I think that movie companies or directors don't see the full potential of a really well done Uncharted movie just because is based on a game. This can be the next Indiana Jones, maybe even better.
