I broke my ring toe last Sunday. Not able to do much of anything active I began on my Fleegal Heal socks. I could actually try the pinhole or star toe since it was rounded. So pleased with how it’s proceeding as well as trying the Chiagoo 3” + 2 1/2” set up as 9” circulars. It might actually be a little longer than that but I’m loving it!!! Thank you Staci for the guidance, pattern and lessons! AWESOME!
I have a couple of the Addi they are called Easy knits circulars needles they are 10”. ( I prefer using the 9 or 10” circs for socks as well , due to arthritis issues and nerve damage.) Love them! I’d love to have the ChiaoGoo set though because the tips are so much sharper! ❤️ thank you for this tutorial I’ll be watching it several times lol.
Hello, I am glad your back! please make more tutorials on garments your talented and very creative! all the ladies I know we are waiting for more videos from you; thank you kindly. Dr:Craig
Knitted different types of socks: classic, boomerang, twisted and others. But there is always a place for something new. Thank you for interesting pattern!!
Thank you, you make it look so easy. Have knitted one pair of socks and have been wanted to learn the knit toe up. Perfect pattern. Love your needle trick.🥰
Hi staci....thanks for this beautiful sock patt.....i really like the color of them pink and yellow.....great combo.....great tutorial......HAVE A NICE DAY STACI.....😄
You’re SO great. Your generosity is really commendable. I’m off to my Ravelry account to buy the pattern. I’ve been looking for just the right socks to knit in my beautiful San Jose Sharks color way yarn. I have just enough time before hockey season starts. Yay!
Nice sock pattern, Staci. One thing that made me laugh was your calling the gap between heel flap and foot/leg the gap between gusset and cuff! Glad to know others misspeak at times. ;)
ok u do u .... so funnee ... I have been using this pattern for a few years now and I felt kinda guilty because I feel like I am taking the easy way out ... I do have issues with never being able to make socks look the same for some reason ... like if the yarn is a trifle different, then I may alter the pattern to compensate but I don't always write it down thinking oh I will remember. Then when I make the second sock I start trying to remember/guess what I did ... and ooops one sock turns out wider or longer than the other. Its totally me, I know, just frustrating ... I don't have a good eye for structure so to speak. Thanx so much just when I wanted to make a pale pink pair this came up, very nice
This pattern has only been out for a few months...so maybe you've been using a different pattern for the last few years? If you're working from one my patterns and you ever have a question, you're always welcome to email me at staci@verypink.com, I'm always here to help.
@@verypinkknits yes it was a combo of star toe from somewhere, and fleegle sock pattern Knit Freedom, my experiment, I pieced it together hence the uncertainty. Hi Stacie. Interesting looking pattern. Before I purchase the Skacel needles, I’m left handed, and knit Continental. I’d hold the longer needle in my left hand? Thank you, your patterns are terrific and your videos easy to follow.
If you are knitting from the stitches on your left needle to an empty needle in your right, you will want to hold the longer Sock Wonder needle in your right hand. If you knit onto an empty needle in your LEFT hand (mirror knitting) that is when you would want to hold the longer needle in your left hand. Most people knit from the left to the right, mirror knitting is less common.
Great video and pattern. I’m a big fan of the Fleegle Heel and loved seeing you knit it. I’m never sure about doing the gusset in a contrasting color though. Does your pattern have instructions for this?
I think I maybe ready to get a sock needle set, which do you think of the interchanges is best or do you like the Addi flexi. Inquiring minds would love to know. BTW your videos are awesome.
Hi! I'm living in Spain currently and on the hunt for 9" circulars to dive back into sock knitting. The needles I'm finding here (addi sock wunder) are 25cm, which is 9.8". Do you think that would be too long or would that extra .8" not matter too much? I've never used such small circular needles before so I wasn't sure. Thanks for your videos, I can spend hours watching them!
@@verypinkknits Ok great. And what about the difference in length between what I can find here in Spain vs what you have in the US? Think it'll make a difference?
I’m curious why you do a k2tog on the right side of the heel? All other fleegle heel videos I’ve seen have you do SSK there. Does it make a difference, I would prefer the k2tog since it’s neater just wondering if you can interchange them here
Stacy, love your pattern and I have a question. Can the Fleegle heel be used as an afterthought heel? I have a high instep and find that heel and gusset gives me the best fit, but I haven't been successful using heel and gusset as an afterthought heel. Any recommendations or ideas?
I don't...you really just want to measure the sole of the foot, from the back of the heel to the tip of the longest toe. You can also use this chart to determine the length of your foot by your shoe size: www.zappos.com/c/measure-your-shoe-size
I have a sock tutorial on an afterthought heel...it is a pre-planned heel without any scissors used, but it is the same idea: verypink.com/2016/02/24/socks-on-9-circulars/
Not with this pattern...I have other toe-up sock patterns that use different cast-ons for the toe. Changing the CO will require changing the rest of the pattern for the toe. You can see my other sock pattern/tutorials here: verypink.com/category/socks/
I suppose it is possible, and someone might have figured that out and put it in a pattern, but I don't recommend trying to modify this pattern to be knit cuff-down. That modification isn't straightforward.
Sorry you're having trouble...if you're working from the written pattern and you need help, you can always contact me directly at staci@verypink.com for pattern support.
“K, you do you.” & the facial expression to go along with it. You could make videos about how to handle people on the Internet. 👏🏻

This type of heel is the pattern I learned. Although the star toe on DPNs look a bit tricky

I love the Fleegle Heel, but I get too much fabric on the front of my ankle. Is it possible to adjust for that?
Great video and pattern. I’m a big fan of the Fleegle Heel and loved seeing you knit it. I’m never sure about doing the gusset in a contrasting color though. Does your pattern have instructions for this?
Yes - I give specific instructions in the pattern for exactly what to do if you are using a contrasting heel color.
Thank you. And another big thank you for the tip about the Red Shorties. Brilliant. Off to order some!
Hi Stacie! Could you tell me what nail polish you are wearing? It is beautiful. Thank you.
I might be mistaken but was there a pattern out there like - pick a heel pick a toe ? I like this heel but like the German short row toe
I think I maybe ready to get a sock needle set, which do you think of the interchanges is best or do you like the Addi flexi. Inquiring minds would love to know. BTW your videos are awesome.
I like both, I happily switch between different needle types.
can you do a tutorial on slip stitch construction toe up ?
Sock Wonders are a perfect choice for knitting these socks. I recommend you start with DPNs, then move on to your choice of needles after the toe.
@@verypinkknits Ok great. And what about the difference in length between what I can find here in Spain vs what you have in the US? Think it'll make a difference?
It won't make a difference. The ChiaoGoo needles I show in this video are the same setup (one longer needle) and length as Sock Wonders.
I believe the 9" circulars available in the US are 23cm, and here I've only seen 25cm. It's probably nothing but thought I'd ask the expert first!
@@verypinkknits Amazing. Thanks for the help and the quick reply to boot! Can't wait to try your new pattern.
Is there a way to make the fleegle heel more square shaped like other heel patterns?
I’m curious why you do a k2tog on the right side of the heel? All other fleegle heel videos I’ve seen have you do SSK there. Does it make a difference, I would prefer the k2tog since it’s neater just wondering if you can interchange them here
Just a design choice I made...you can switch out k2togs and SSKs if you prefer the look the other way.
@@verypinkknits awesome thanks for that! I’m not a fan of SSKs 😂
Stacy, love your pattern and I have a question. Can the Fleegle heel be used as an afterthought heel? I have a high instep and find that heel and gusset gives me the best fit, but I haven't been successful using heel and gusset as an afterthought heel. Any recommendations or ideas?
Hmm..not really. Afterthought heels are generally short-row heels without a gusset.
Could you post the link for the sizing in the comments section? I can't seem to find the link you mention in the video. Thanks!
Here you go: www.zappos.com/c/measure-your-shoe-size
@@verypinkknits thank you!!
Do you have a video on how to measure your foot for making socks?
I don't...you really just want to measure the sole of the foot, from the back of the heel to the tip of the longest toe. You can also use this chart to determine the length of your foot by your shoe size: www.zappos.com/c/measure-your-shoe-size
Have you ever tried a cut in heel?
I have a sock tutorial on an afterthought heel...it is a pre-planned heel without any scissors used, but it is the same idea: verypink.com/2016/02/24/socks-on-9-circulars/
Can I use the magic cast on toe for circulars instead%%?
Not with this pattern...I have other toe-up sock patterns that use different cast-ons for the toe. Changing the CO will require changing the rest of the pattern for the toe. You can see my other sock pattern/tutorials here: verypink.com/category/socks/
Is there any reason why you don't pull the turning stitch in this video, like you do in normal german short rows? Isn't it necessary in this pattern?
Yes - the short rows in this pattern are not German Short Rows.
Is there a link for the Zappo's chart?
www.google.com/search?client=firefox-b-1-d&q=zappos+foot+length+chart
Oh, new type of sock? *Yes, please.* All your designs are just wonderful.
Is that a basenji statue on the mantle?
Yes, an honor to my dogs who wait patiently for me at home while I shoot video in the studio. :)
Can the Fleegle heel be worked cuff down?
I suppose it is possible, and someone might have figured that out and put it in a pattern, but I don't recommend trying to modify this pattern to be knit cuff-down. That modification isn't straightforward.
Does this heel fit well if one has a high instep?
Yes - I explain that in the video.
Can this heel be done cuff down
No, not without rewriting the pattern.
where is the link for the shoe size.
Here, and it is also in the pattern. www.zappos.com/c/shoe-size-conversion
What's the name of the sight for the shoe chart I meant
My website? www.verypink.com
@@verypinkknits I meant the shoe chart
