I pulled a vacuum for a few minutes and a cloud of dark stuff appeared in the sight glass. The oil does get contaminated quick. If you want a perfect job, you will have to change oil. People say 30 inches of mercury can't be done on earth. My cheap 1/4HP pump with new oil does it in seconds on a car AC. I suspect the new oil has something to do with it.
Bought the vacuum pump added oil that came with it and used it once. It stopped half way through then died. Why? Many tech say they had the same problem
In my 20 years working in the refrigeration business Never had problems with my yellow jackets pumps. Going on my third one, bought it two years ago. If it wasn’t for thieves and junkies I would still have my first one. I change the oil every other job And it works great for me. Use micron gauge to make sure vacuum still performing as it should.
I was pulling a vacuum on a new LG mini split system, pump connected to the high pressure side via the manifold, UVG digital gauge on a CRT off the low side. Walked away for a moment, power here in Kihei went out, and now I've got fucking vacc pump oil in my hoses, manifold, and into the high pressure line. I'll have to purge the system and start over. DON'T ever leave one of these unattended. Some kind of a built in safety valve would have been nice at the price I paid
Richie Leon The ATF only goes to the vacuum pump, it doesn't enter the A/C system. Whether A/C (i.e. ester oil) can be used for the vacuum pump, I don't know.. it's probably fine, just an unnecessary expense.
I bought a yellow jacket 7 cfm vacuum pump, I tested it in my garage with the micron gage directly connected to pump, i could not reach micron level, with my manifold gage I only went to 26.3 inches of mercury. I tried same thing with my no name 20 year old pump it droped to micron level in minuts. I returned it to the supplier and after a big argument and talking to manager I got it replaced ith a J B eliminator, wich is alot better, ps the yellow jacket was getting super hot the motor and pum compartment, there was a problem with that unit, I WOULD NOT RECOMENT Y J TO ANYONE, I ALSO REPLACED MY YJ MANIFOLD WITH TESTO 550 WOW...
@@ShyRage1 it's not really a big deal as long as it's from a reputable source and its sealed (obviously because its hygroscopic) but I was partial to JB black gold. I am no longer in the field though so it's not something I think about or have thought about for a few years now.
It is true. I know of no other oil that is colorless like the pump oil. With a cheap pump and clean oil, I was able to pull a vacuum in seconds. Then the oil got contaminated with a dark cloud of something.
Big fan of yellow jacket products love from india 🇮🇳
How cheaply made is your oil that requires replacement after each and every job?
He can't reach monthly quota if you don't change frequently.

Thank you for your comment!
What type of oil are you using? YJ oil is getting harder to find. Is there any other kind I can use?
Where did you get the Canadian Tuxedo? You look like the President, Chairman, and CEO of Levi-Strauss.

My vacuum pump says to drain the oil and suck up so-many oz of ATF. So this will allow the pump to suck a deeper vacuum than using ATF?
castirondude ATF? What about AC compressor oil? Any data?

Good products.

“Not all oil is created equally”👀👀👀

Hi Guys is there any difference in Vacuum Pump Oil and Air Compressor Oil..... can I use Air Compressor oil in y Vacuum Pump ????? is it ok
Nooo dont do it
um....oil does not absorb moisture. It repels it.
no the oil in refrigerants and in vaccuum pump is hygroscopic and absorbs moisture all time... this isnt motor oil or unrefined oil.
all oils can aborb a bit of moisture. But they can absorb a lot more if emulsified
My oil is milky / full of condensate. Can you dry it? Or do you just toss it?
Wrong oil brother, friend. Vacuum pump oil and hfc refrigerant: poe oil are hygroscopic, meaning they attract + absorb moisture.
