  • The Texas Longhorns were dealt a gut punch over the holiday weekend as 5-star WR Dakorien Moore announced his commitment to the Oregon Ducks. Why did the Longhorns come up short? Does Texas still have the chance to flip Dakorien Moore before National Signing Day in December? Where do the Longhorns go from here for the Class of 2025? Recruiting Insiders Jordan Scruggs & Collin Kennedy debate.

Texas’ offer according to Texas insiders, was more than Oregons offer from Oregon.
Also, I looked at the family in Austin, which is his mom’s family…aka, not his own siblings or parents as possibly a negative, and I’ll explain why.
If you look at the amount of family he had there, he would literally never have any time to himself, or to hang out with his friends, or teammates. They would constantly be asking him for tickets and gear also, and it just wouldn’t be that fun to be tied down to family almost every weekend.
And as far as Oregon is concerned…he scheduled 5 visits in 6mths, after Oregon lead the 2023 regular seasons the #1 passing offense…after having two 1000yd WRs.
I’m from Eugene, but I’ve live a bunch of different places, and travelled all over the USA…and Eugene is a unique place. The people are extremely open minded and that’s why there’s some wierd people in Oregon. But as my black friends have said, it’s a great place to live, with almost no racism, which is noticeable when you go to other states all over the country. It’s just an amazing place if you want a low key lifestyle.
But all that was to say, he really liked Oregon, and it was not about the money, since Texas offered more than Oregon did.

Uncle Phil has spent $934,000,000 on facilities, with more to come. NIL collective is the best organized of any in the country. The state is beautiful with the coast 70 miles from Eugene. If it’s only about money. Why doesn’t Oregon get every 5 star player if it’s ONLY about money?????
There are other things at play. Their future coaches plays a part. One thing people are forgetting, Lanning has proved he’s not interested in leaving Oregon. That’s huge in the eyes of a recruit. Another factor, the location of where these recruits will be living for the next 3-5 years plays a role. Eugene Oregon is beautiful. An hour from the ocean. An hour from the snow capped mountains. That maybe very appealing to some recruits.

You two are discussing possible million dollar deals, yet Moore's NIL eval is 599,000. Yes, Uncle Phil has donated Much money to his Alma-Mater the University of Oregon. NIKE also donates to other colleges and their players as well. Many teams in College Football have NIL Collectives with Wealthy Benefactors. Uncle Phil is NOT the ONLY reason Players Commit and play for Oregon. Is it the only reason anybody commits anywhere?? NO!! who is paying for Sanders, Sanders, Hunter, and Seaton at Colorado, three are in the top 20 for NIL Evaluation and all four in the top 37?! Ohio State has 9 possibly 10 in the top 100, Alabama has 8 payers in the top 100. THE BIG kicker here is Oregon has 4 and Dakorien Moore is 90th on the list. As much as you hate to say it. Your argument has ZERO Merit.

Personally, I completely agree not to pay players the amounts Nike is dishing out. Maybe you pay that amount IF they sign a contract to play 3 years and cannot enter the portal. End of the day, NIL combined with transfer portal is not good for college athletics.
