Tag teams would make sense with Dodonzo and Tatsugiri.

One thing possibly against the Tag Team speculation: In the Starter Deck equivalents, we never got a Tag Team, VMAX, VSTAR, or Tera ex in one of those products - it's always been a "vanilla" Pokemon V or ex.
Dont get me wrong, i loved me some tag teams. Played reshiram charizard gx from release to rotation. But now that we have been removed i see why everyone hated them. Dont wanna see big basics come back
I think it’s just a marnie deck with morpeko and grimsnarl and a Steven deck with Beldum and metagross.
It could be pluralized ownership to not sound redundant. I'm thinking from a sales point and Steven's beldum and Metagross sounds better than Steven's beldum and Steven's Metagross. Also you do have a very nice voice. It's nice to listen do first thing in the morning at work.
I agree with this, but it also calls into question why they would list both beldum and metagross when they're in the same evolution line. Itd make more sense to be "Steven's Aron and Metagross ex" for example
The collector in me is LOVING the return of the tag teams (having all the alternate arts together brings harmony to my soul), but the player in me Is dreading the return of tag teams…
I'm in the same situation, I love tag team cards with all my soul and they are my favourite part of my collection
But I'm physically not ready for another tag team meta
It will at best artificially increase the hp again, man 300 is already too much I hope to god no basic 300 pokemon. We'll be at 600 in 5 years at this rate lol
This is interesting to say the least. We have a Gen 9 set with Trainer representation from Gen 3 (Steven), Gen 5 (N), Gen 7 (Lillie), and Gen 8 (Marnie).
If we are getting a set with Owner's Pokemon, returning Trainers, and such, I both am excited to see what we get and terrified to see what some of those cards will end up selling for. As far as the naming goes, I'd assume it's just to not overinflate the name of the product. I mean let's be real, what's easier to say: "Steven's Beldum & Metagross ex" or "Steven's Beldum and Steven's Metagross ex?"
I think it's gonna be two cards, both owned by that Trainer, that's that. It doesn't really make sense to get Beldum AND Metagross on the same card in my opinion, mostly because they're the same evolution line, but I think it's very likely that we get Owner's Pokemon that can evolve into Owner's Pokemon ex. I REALLY don't see them bringing back Tag Team cards since A, those were HORRIBLY for power creep, and B, they completely ruin the current mechanics of the TCG by further pushing away from evolutions.
dont think the cards will go for thaaat much because pokemon center is just gonna print a bunch of these sets because they know these sets are fan favorites and they wont miss the opportunity to make this money

Yeah Beldum being here with Metagross makes me doubt about this tag team revival quite a bit
yeah not to mention they will most likely begin to print Mega pokemon in 2025 due to Legends ZA's release
I really enjoyed tag team pokemon. I hope we get a return of that mechanic. I really like having big 3 prize pokemon.

Owner Pokémon are a thing in the lastest video game. In the DLC for scarlet violet you get a pokemon from different NPC's and it has their name and OT
This is probably the most unlikely scenario but you mentioning Lillie's poke doll makes me REALLY hope it comes back
I wanted to build a deck with the new Polywrath in Twilight Masquerade, but it just doesn't have enough going for it to make it worthwhile. Poke doll would be a great 0 prize card to throw in the active after shuffling back into the deck and potentially give the deck a chance
As I mentioned it's probably not happening but I'm going to hope this is some sort of legacy reprint where we get all the old Lillie cards in one go. It's nice anyway since Lillie is one of my favourite characters and I only recently entered PTCG so it'll be nice to get a card of her I can potentially play

They tried that back in the day but it never really worked out and didn't catch on.
Yugioh has been doing 3v3 for sometime now and it has been extremely successful. So a 2v2 I think this generation of Pokemon players would love it.
Deck size would need to increase at least 10 cards for this to happen so no chance.

The amount of pokemon that can be tag teamed together are limitless because of terastalyzation (I hope I spelled it write) Think about, Tag teams have to be the same type so their could be a Tera Dark Charizard and Tera Dark Rayquaza ex! If tag teams come back it will be with the coolest Pokémon combinations ever!
It would be cool BUT you can only Tera one Pokémon in the games, so I’ll think they’ll do one Tera and the other normal. Still allows more combinations.

I think you might be wrong wossy… I read is as both are Steven’s for example you wouldn’t say Ross’s red sweets and Ross’s blue sweets, you would instead say Ross’s red and blue sweets, with that I think owners Pokemon will be back but if tag team come with it then even better as the art rares will be insane 😍
I really hope tag team Pokemon don't return, we have a meta in Which stage 2 pokemon are relevant, or if they bring them back, just do it in name

A tag team dark pokemon set would be great
its 2 cards imo, one card from the new owner's pokemon set and the additional Ex card. Hopefully owner's pokemon can bring a new dynamic that mixes with the Ex.

I want to say they didnt list the names twice because it reads better, but that makes me wonder why theyd list both beldum and metagross when one kinda implies the other.
What if these are tag teams, but theyre balanced by being harder to play? Like to play beldum & metagross you have to also play a supporter with "steven" in its name that turn. That would be really interesting since playing those decks would almost feel like roleplaying as those characters, and would justify a reprint of a card like N even though Iono is sorta the same thing if not a better version.
I hope Tag Teams come back because that was the main set I collected haha

I think it's just Metagross ex and Grimmsnarl ex are coming, and the basics have owners, but this is sweet and I'm still psyched for Metagross ex!!
I don't think we will see tag teams. I'd be more likely to think they are revisiting owner's pokemon, but maybe they will not be restricted like previous.
So far, we have revistited the ex 'mechanic', are looking to revisit megas in the future. Owner's pokemon is another crowd pleaser and i think it could be a fun tool, if it was implemented better than its original incarnation.
Personally, I'd prefer if they acted as 'tags' on the card that let other cards interact with them, like Battle Styles in the past, keeping the abilitiy to evolve between an owner's pokemon and a regular if desired.
There is also a possibility that there is no return for owner's but rather a product naming that is just confusing on paper.
If this doesn't reek desperation about the TCG getting less players, then i don't know what will convince the others
The tcg has more players than ever to the point they are going to start capping some events. From a collecting point tag teams are cool cards. I'm pretty sure if this does mean tag teams, they don't have to make them as powerful so the tcg doesn't suffer, and they will still be very collectible.

It’s possible that this is just imprecise advertising copy. My guess is ‘Steven’s beldum’ and ‘Steven’s metagross ex’ with a Steven’s metang’ in the middle, like in the good old days. That’s what I wish to Jirachi it is, at least. Please, let pokemon evolve, no more gimic basics!

There’s zero way Pokémon is bringing back Tag Team. The extremely negative effect (competitively speaking) of them have already been shown. Additionally, the wording of the product suggests that it’ll have one card with the named trainers Pokémon abd ANOTHER card with a new ex. They’re not going to be on the same card.
They’d likely tune them for the current gen. Just because they bring old mechanics back doesn’t mean at all they will function the same way.
