Guys a quick tip for those using GoodNotes 5 and want the recording feature. I would advise if your in a lecture and writing notes to use screen recording with the mic on. You can do this by holding down on the screen recording then pressing use mic. You can then save it to your library and listen and discard.

Actually you can’t record lectures because of consent laws. You would have to let you’re professor know before hand that you’re gonna record the lecture, even if it’s just the voice.🙁
Imani M what’s ur point here, wouldn’t that be the same with notability? They gave a tip of how to combat the lack of the record feature on goodnotes

Janice Studies Is 32GB storage sufficient? I am planning to read journal articles and do some note taking. Janice, where do you store your notes at? Ipad itself or online storage? To me, it would be better for me to install some shopping apps and movies. I wonder if 32GB suits me.
I also wanted to ask a question about storage. I’m choosing between 256gb and 64gb. I feel like since you are able to use 32gb as a medical major, I think any of those would be enough.

@@marina8541 hey! I personally did not get a paper like/matte like screen protector because of the eh reviews. I have a tempered glass screen protector which I actually recommend more. Paper like screen protectors are cool because, yes they give you that friction to make it "feel" like paper, but your pen nibs end up wearing down after a lot of us, the paper like "protectors" aren't really durable as your iPad screen isn't protected that well, they scratch easily, and they can make the screen look grainy/mute the colors. I would honestly just go with a glass screen protector as it's much more durable/protects your ipad a lot more. I know writing on glass can feel weird at first, but it's fine once you get used to it. It took me about an hour to adapt to writing on the glass and my handwriting is completely fine. It looks like my handwriting on paper.

Best argument for an iPad/Tablet I've seen for school really. Your notes are amazing, as someone who is wanting to go back to school you should do a vid on how you take notes honestly, and how you organize them, as well as study them. There are likely more people like me who don't really know how to study and organize like that.

Can’t wait to get my iPad. I’m not in school anymore although I’m thinking about going back. But mainly going to use it for bullet journal and digital budgeting as well as video and photo editing. I love my 6th gen ipad. I use it to take me history notes and it’s amazing
5:15 you can sync your docs using onedrive on microsoft office also, you can even use it on a web browser. Saves you having to move it from Google docs.
Could you believe it’s almost “happy holidays“ again and it only feels like I was scrolling though her Instagram feed a few weeks back about how excited she was that she got engaged 😂

i assume i’m a little late to this and you’ll probably be starting college soon! thought i’d throw you a little bit of advice anyway as i dropped out twice last year and am starting over this time. make sure it’s something you like! here in england we do things pretty differently but i was aiming for college in the US. genuinely if there’s anything you don’t enjoy about it, don’t do it, it’s not worth it. i switched from biomed to journalism in october last year and then had to leave because i got very sick, but changing to journalism which i really love all of changed my outlook on life! i still like biomed and study in my free time just for interest, but i couldn’t handle chem any longer. remember that once you’ve started you can always switch!

Couple of questions if ya don’t mind: How do you handle the inevitable dead trees you’re given in class? Scan into GN/Notability and hand back?
I haven’t had an issue with it so far as my last several classes barely used any paper. If I do encounter it I’d just scan them into a notetaking app and then give it back. Unless the instructor/prof wants the sheet handed back with answers... :)
Janice Studies Thanks for answering! That’s pretty much what I settled on too. I seem to get a lot of handouts though, so management with notability last semester got a bit unruly. Hopefully a switch to GoodNotes will help.

Happy New Year! I also have the slim folio case but I am thinking of replacing it with the Logitech Keys-to-go. The slim folio is kinda heavy and there are times when I don't actually need a keyboard. Waah I hope I'm making the right decision. Maybe you can check it out. Thanks.
I’ve seen Keys to Go and I love them because of the colour! I personally love this slim folio keyboard because it’s attached to the iPad and feels super sturdy :)

I recommend that you buy the cover nib for your pen bcs using paperlike gonna burn down the pencil nib much faster

This makes me wish I was back in school. And I did 4 years of undergrad into 5 years of doctoral study... so it takes a lot to make me want to go back for more! Your handwriting and organization skills are amazing.
I have two questions: Does the paperlike screen protector have some negative effects when using your fingers? Does the Kitty pencil case has something to hold the lighting adapter?

@@kallieklugman2522 yeah but over a looong period of time and you can get new tips for under 5 euros
No negative effects on my iPad pro so far! And I'm not sure about the pencil case. But there are many other pencil cases on eBay who have a "case" for the lightning adapter. I recently got one for less than 2€ 😉
@@kallieklugman2522 You must have a strong pressure when you write to damage the nib I think. Mine is still just fine and I use my Pencil every day, for writing, drawing, playing etc 🙂

With matte screen protectors it’s difficult to apply them to the screen, they will slightly reduce visibility and will throw off the physical touch sensors in your device. They will also wear down over time and lose their surface texture. Good if you use a pen most of the time, but not if you don’t. If you do, another thing that can help with the pen traction is teflon tape. Just wrap some around the tip of your pen. Works very well. Good advice here. Thankyou.
I'm just started digital note taking. I use OneNote for now on a a PC with Logos Bible software, but hopefully I'll be getting an iPad and apple pen soon. I just love haveing all my info everywhere I go. I'm hoping to get my biblical counseling certification.

My only gripe with the paperlike is it feels as though the quality of the screen is lessened by the grainy texture used to make it feel the way it does
How have you enjoyed using your iPad for nursing school!? I just graduated from college and will he starting nursing school next fall and am thinking of switching to an iPad!! I love handwriting my notes, as I tend to retain information better than typing notes, and thought that having an iPad with different notebooks within would be better than having a separate notebook for every class. What has tour experience been like with it, and do you take notes with it during lectures?

I've gotten so used to writing on the iPad that I actually like writing on it more than actual paper. I use no screen protector by the way. I've gotten used to the minimal slipperiness and tend to write faster and and have better handwriting than I do on paper.

I think it's wonderful that these apps include so many features, such as the ability to record, but as a professor, I'd like to caution you against recording your lectures in class. Many universities have anti-recording policies, as our lecture content is copyright; it's essentially illegal to record us without our permission at my school and students who do so get in serious disciplinary trouble. Just something to think about!
This is definitely a great point! Always ask your professors/instructors if it is okay to record first! :)
Another professor here chiming in to second this. I'd be pretty annoyed if I found out my students were recording me without my permission. It's definitely not allowed.
Lmao don’t teach. Few students need the accessibility forms that render them immune to whatever copyright bs you’re talking about. It’s not federally mandated/ but even so they’re not allowed to sell your content and share it but they are allowed to record you. Nice try though lol
@@shelle3944 No, you're immensely incorrect and extremely ignorant about this. Yes, students with accommodations for such are permitted to record, but they still need the professor's consent each time. The remainder of the students are NOT permitted to record us under any circumstances.

I’ve seen a lot of ppl on YT state the same thing about GoodNotes that it’s great for writing review notes at home and Notability Is great for annotating lecture notes. Why is that? Can’t you just used one app for both? I have notability at the moment should I get GoodNotes too? Much love to your channel❤️
Juicy Bouche because notability is easier to set up and it's neater to scroll through the notes, while goodnotes allow for a lot of customization, which in turn takes up time esp when you are in a lecture. at least that's my experience. and no, you dont need both apps, while one app may be at a disadvantage, they're both excellent.

Jessi Lynne, It’s better than the glass screen and other matte screen protectors. I recommend it over most matte screen protector as it has a grain to it but it’s so expensive compared to other ones and it also wears down the pencil but if you’re doing digital art than even with the downsides it’s worth it for artists.

this was such an informative video, thank you so much! i was wondering if you've found any issues with the size of the ipad 7th generation for writing notes? i'm starting university in february and am looking into an ipad, and i don't really want to spend too much on the ipad pro for the bigger size options but i'm worried that the standard 7th generation may be difficult to take notes on
I have the ipad 6th gen 9.7 inch one and i use it for university and i havent had a problem with it! :) It is sometimes a little bit annoying to use the split screen but its definitely not a deal breaker in my opinion :)
I think the 7th generation iPad is plenty! It's extremely portable and will fit nicely on all desks. You might notice split screen being a bit inefficient because the 10.2 inch really limits the size of the split screen windows, BUT it's not totally terrible. Give it a try @ the Apple Store! I personally think it's good enough for notetaking. :)

Love your videos!!! I also have the 6th generation iPad and I bought a matt screen protector for it (not from paperlike) although the writing experience is great, it blurs the text and the lines...there’s just no definition
And I always wondered if that was because of this specific screen protector or if it was just because of my 6th gen iPad not having a laminated screen (like the iPad pros that I saw reviewing paperlike)

Hi, currently surveying on ways digitized my notes and so far ipad with apple pencil is the best option, however i see you use a few note takings app such as notability, goodnote, one note. So how you manage all your notes in different note taking app by remember which note to refer at which app? Will it be best just stick to max 2 note taking app? because i understand each note taking app strength and weakness and use different app to compliment each other for our own needs. or you may recommend me to watch your other videos to answer my question? definately will watch your video on the One note. Same as you that i do have window desktop and planning getting a macOS and ipad.
