Jessica and Sylvester met when they were about 15 or 16 years old but did not date. They reconnected once they both graduated college and started to date off and on for about a year. They had a lot of ups and downs and it was truly the grace of God that they made it this far. They believe that God placed them in each other's lives. Sylvester proposed by throwing a surprise 30th birthday party for Jessica. All of their family and friends were there to celebrate. After everyone sung happy birthday, Jessica looked around for the cake to blow out the candles and Sylvester showed her the cake that read "Jessica, will you marry me?" and then he got down on one knee. Their wedding date is on their 5 year anniversary.
