I actually love doing laundry. There's something so satisfying about have freshly laundered clothes folded neatly. (I also dislike ironing). Thanks for posting this video.
With Ms.Larsson everything in it's place, and every place has what it needs only. I must say that is a simple way to make life worth living. So uncomplicated, because she is continuously working for that to happen. Her happiest time is living for the moment and staying in the comfort of the home she has created. Awesome and lovely, and inspiring indeed!
I love your videos, style and natural way of life. I've learned so much from you. I am impressed by your conscience with only doing ads with companies that you believe in and that have integrity. You are a class act and I have much respect for you! xx p.s. you introduced me to Organic Basics and I love the brand
Your videos have motivated me to finally declutter my own apartment, especially my kitchen and wardrobe. Somehow I had collected over 40 tshirts over the years and only really wore a handful of them while the rest collected dust. In the kitchen I donated a lot of the stuff I had been gifted and was scared to get rid of. In the end I could get rid of an entire bookshelf worth of assorted stuff, and the shelf itself! Thank you for all the videos with all the little tips and tricks!
I’m getting more interested in being more practical rather than having things for the sake of it. In the Uk, we don’t usually have our laundry machines in the bathroom- I’m starting to think it’s quite practical - if you have a big enough room. Who thought I’d be interested in watching a laundry video. I’m loving your channel too. My cousin lives in Stockholm. I need to visit him to go shopping too :) merry Christmas
I never minded doing laundry or ironing always feels like a reset when the house is cleaned, laundry done, feet up with a good book and have something cooking on the stove especially during the fall and winter months ♥ Loved the shape of the hangers used for drying, keeps the shoulders of the tops from having shoulder marks.
I love doing laundry, too. I hang clothes outside in the Texas sun and feel quite confident my clothes are disinfected after a few hours. I spin them in the dryer for 5 minutes to remove lint and soften them.
Last week, we had incredible weather (20°). So I was able dry on clothesline. And yes, whatever the packaging says: whites have to be washed in hot water. I was given my first own washer 2 weeks ago. Game changer! No bleach, just hot water for whiter whites✨ (Our laundromat is set with 20°water tops)
@@BenitaLarsson I know, right? Here, most washers are build like this: hot, warm (½-½), cold, straight from the pipes. No heather IN the machine (I actually didn't even know they existed untill European friends told me). So you have no real control, therefore the cold water in summer (20°) has nothing to do with the cold water in winter (4°) which arrives straight from the aqueduct. My landlord is responsible for the lowering of the _hot_ cycle. And thanks! Even if it's plugged to my kitchen sink when in use, I'm really happy ☺️
Such lovely looking machines and clearly well looked after! Bosch are absolutely excellent sustainable machines considering how well built they are and incredibly easy and cheap to repair :)
I sold my dryer years ago as I wasn't using it. I prefer to dry my clothes outside in the sunshine and fresh air. Also electricity is not cheap in Australia. You towels washed up beautifully. 👍
I have doing laundry most of my life and you taught me some great ideas -- thank you! I used to get colorful towels, too, and now I just have white. Easier to keep looking clean and to sanitize.
I watched all of your videos, and I appreciate cleaning, decluttering and organizing videos this one the most. They are not only calming and relaxing but also informative in a visually aesthetic way. I watch them when I need to sit down and take a break in the middle of a hectic stressful day or when I get the urge to kick down the door and burn everything down in my teenage boy’s room (I don’t know if it’s a boy thing or a teenager thing or both but his room oftentimes looks like a pig sty and smells like one, too on bad days). I find hope and comfort in your videos like this one that one day my son will move out and I can reclaim my space and make it minimal and beautiful like your apartment :)
I just started my morning by watching this .. so satisfying.. thank you for all your wonderful videos. I really appreciate them. You are a calming positive influence from so many miles away.. regards from Washington, US :)
I changed from liquid to powder this last year as the power comes in a cardboard box instead of plastic While I find that I get some light power marks on some dark clothes occasionally I am feeling better about less plastic bottles. We have a company here in New Zealand now that makes genuine non petrochemical sugar based " plastic" containered products that they are now asking to be returned ned for recycling ♻ a genuine attempt at closed cycle production
Hi Jacqueline, I’m a New Zealander living in Australia. I’m really interested in the product you are talking about if you could please reply. We can probably buy it here. I buy powder detergent at the moment, in cardboard, from Aldi. Not sure how sustainable it is though. Thank you.
OmG I put all my laundry together, run the dryer for a few minutes and then dig through and pull out what needs to be air dried. Your way makes so much more sense.
So peaceful, soothing and inspiring video. I'm just at the start of a minimalist journey with my family but every step counts ...Best regards from Czech Republic. Kate.
Lovely video always . I have always washed my cloths and Put things hangers. Makes putting things in my wardrobe away easier . Most of the time we can hang on the cloths line outside . I enjoy doing my washing makes the house smell nice xxx have a lovely day
I agree with Angela below, there isn't another person in the world that I would watch do laundry, but Benita makes it look exciting. I'm off to buy some white cotton towels!!!!
So love your minimalist style, aesthetic and perfectionist tendencies. I, too remove labels, decanting if possible. I enjoy doing laundry, a type of zen for the rhythm of my home. I also do the fluff in the dryer, and then hang the clothes on hangers or drying bars. I have an extending drying rack that compresses when not in use in my little laundry closet on the main floor of our home. With the door shut, people would think it is just a linen closet, but is quite a lovely laundry room. There is something so satisfying about beginning the week renewed and everything clean, nicely folded and put away. It is a simple joy that brings so much gratitude and satisfaction, and emphasizes I have everything I need.
Always so calming and inspiring to watch your videos. I’m happy to learn about the guppy mesh bag and am definitely getting one now. I learn so much from you. We also use white in towels, napkins and bedding because I find it easier to clean and like the crisp freshness. It took a few grey mishaps to learn that the dryer balls were discoloring everything so now i only use them with colors.
What kind of dryer balls do you use? What caused them to do that? I have both the white wool ones and the plastic blue spiked ones, I haven't noticed any issues but want to avoid it.
I use white linen and towels too. I find it much easier to keep them looking good for many years and it makes me feel like I am in a hotel 😄. I am really enjoying your channel! 🤍
Washing the laundry (with e.g. cotton bed linnens or towels that can handle it) now and then on boiling program (90-95 deg. C) helps keep the machine clean and bacteria free, as well as the fabric. :)
I also use 60 degrees for towels and linen. But I do have coloured towels in the family. I also use 60degrees for my work scrubs as I’m a nurse and iron those for extra bacteria control. Regular darks I use 40 degree wash. Living in Australia we tend to hang our washing outside on a clothes line.
Your videos are so calming! I loved this one and was looking to purchase new towels in black friday sales- will bite the bullet and go for white (maybe!). I was scared of white but gosh its so classy and fresh looking. Kiss from Lo(ckeddown)don, UK
If you haven’t tried sunlight to remove stains yet, I recommend it (especially during the summer when there is a lot of strong sunlight during the day). I had no idea how effective it was until I left a stained sweater out on my drying rack near a window in my apartment for a few days because I was waiting to buy a stain remover on my next shopping trip, and when I finally got the stain remover, I couldn’t even find the stain, because the sun had completely removed it. I wasn’t even sure a that the stain remover would work and I had thought I would have to get rid of the sweater. It was a red wine stain on a yellow knitted sweater, that hadn’t come out in my regular wash, and the stain was very large and noticeable. My guess is it got about 10 hours of direct sunlight and another 20 of indirect. The stain literally just vanished. My mother always hated all these domestic activities, so never really learned herself how to do laundry properly, so I’ve had to learn all these things my own through research and trial and error. This sunlight stain removing phenomenon is still kind of amazing to me.
I have decluttered and donated so much since discovering your channel. I used to routinely declutter, but this latest round of removal has been quite impressive! And, like you, I find l have little interest in selling anything. I just want it gone, though I have given away quite a bit of it on my neighborhood Facebook page. Thank you for your videos! I'm still not convinced I can handle white, since I've ruined everything white, but I might try again some day. :)
To be honest I wear pretty much the same aside from switching to leggings and long sweaters at home. I very rarely have the need to dress up. Hardly ever.
Benita, have you ever tried 100% linen bath towels? A Reddit author explained why her family switched to linen and will never switch back to cotton terry. She said in addition to the progressive comfort of linen over time, their linen towels take up so much less space during laundering. And, she made (cut and hemmed) the towels herself using linen yardage bought online. I've been thinking about making the switch to linen, too.
OMG how did you know my goal today was to create a routine for my laundry room (Which is also my closet) I was do discouraged about it and now I am excited to do it. Thank you! 🙏
Should look into true earth laundry detergent im obsessed with it verses liquid. Its sustainable within its packaging, no water added to the detergent as its concentrate strips thats biodegradable and package is compostable.
Your laundry hampers are so nice. I am currently turning my bedroom into a tiny studio because my housemates are driving me bonkers. I am looking for similar things. I will have to keep searching. I love a wicker or rattan hamper. the noise they make opening and closing is nice and they tend to smell wonderful Edit: actually you're right about the water temp from a chemistry perspective. Heat allows the fabrics to loosen up and relax the fibers which in turn loosens the hold on crud so when it gets spun or agitated it comes off more easily. I use some powders and things on mine. My whites almost never get dingy and bleach is not needed.
I also love wicker and if I was buying a new set I’d go for that! Have had these for a decade now though and they are the perfects size for that spot, being no narrow. And thanks for confirming the heat!👍🏻
It's 3:30am here I'm hanging the last washing load & your new video comes up, haha! I run my machine after 10/11pm/midnight for cost reasons, kids in bed & I sleep late. I hang everything, inside & out. But the harsh sun here & birds galore, I have to hang majority inside.
Know your Mother is proud of you, kind of you to help her with her washing machine. Am going to switch from fabric softener to vinegar , thank you for that hint. Always enjoy your videos.
Amazing washing machine and dryer, now bosh made expensive machine that worth nothings, i have bosch serie 6 idos in 6 months 3 times i requared the assistence.where are you from, north europe i guess? Im italian guy i love your relaxing house colours fornitures 😍
Haven't looked at washers in a long time. Wonder if they have water temps on them here in the US? Interesting. I always let mine dry after use, as well. Smells so much better, too.
I loved that video Benita. You have lovely towels. Can you please put a link to them? Organic Basics are gorgeous. I should go shopping there now for summer which we are about to enter. Natural fabrics are so much better for the heat. Thank you.
Nice video, really love Neutral detergent, started using the colour liquid a few years ago, and it washes really well without any nasty perfumes (I hate chemical laundry smells) They stopped selling it in the UK. We have non bio (no Enzymes) for sensitive skin But it doesn’t wash out stains or smells like body odour which you need enzymes to break them down.
Your videos are always inspiring and calming. I'm lucky enough to have excess sunlight here in Australia to negate any need for a dryer. The fresh warm smell of line-dried clothes is something I love. Ironically there's a thunderstorm happening here as I type though! I love your towels. Is there a reason you chose this type rather than loop pile?
Following you from Canada, il really appreciate your calming videos. And thanks to you for letting us know about Organic basics from which I ordered beautiful t shirts !
Here in the USA we have a brand called The Laundress and I love their shampoo for Whites plus their other fabric specific liquid soaps....it is enzymatic I believe...it works brilliantly and can often whiten old yellowing Tshirts etc. Love the video and Organic Basics...such a great brand...Big Hugs
Benita is the only person to have ever convinced me that something related to laundry is something to get excited about.

Haha, I’m converting you!

We have non bio (no Enzymes) for sensitive skin But it doesn’t wash out stains or smells like body odour which you need enzymes to break them down.
I have all white linens too!
Great minds think alike!
Yes love the towels too. Enjoyed your vlog Benitta 🙂👍
I’m so glad you enjoyed it!
*You always give me ideas for my Minimalist home so thank you 🤗*
Thank you so much for watching my videos!
This was such a beautiful video to watch!
So relaxing to watch your videos!
I’m so glad you enjoyed them!
I am intrigued by your towels! They look incredible. Where do I find some of my very own?
I get them locally but try googling “waffle weave towels”!
I always loved your waffle towels, where are they from?
They are from a local store called Granit.www.granit.com/eu/badrum/towels/
@@BenitaLarsson I have visited Granit every time I have been in Malmö.... gives me another excuse to go to Sweden of course 🤗
I switched because the waffle ones dry so much faster!
@@BenitaLarsson Thank you Benita. My towels need replacing soon so I'll look into these as an option. Stay well
Following you from Canada, il really appreciate your calming videos. And thanks to you for letting us know about Organic basics from which I ordered beautiful t shirts !
Such a great brand, isn’t it!
Fint system, Benita! Jag måste skaffa vita bollar för torkningen.
Tack! Gör det, de fungerar jättebra!
Älskar dina videos OCH du har ett SÅ vackert hem! :) Tack för bra content!!
Hey....I was so happy to see you....love your videos....sending you lots of love ...xx from Canada.
Thank you so much for watching!
@@BenitaLarsson Can't wait for the next one....a Christmas vlog maybe?🤗
I need to buy dryer balls! Your blouse looks great. 👍
Yes, try them! They make the laundry dry faster too! And the shirt feels amazing on!
Always comforting and inspiring to watch your video. Also great tips on the cleaning part. Thank you, Benita!
So glad you enjoyed it!
Excellent video and commentary.
Happy you enjoyed it!
Wonderful information, would you have an extra tips on how to keep the armpit area in white t shirts from staining 😊
I haven’t tried this but here are some tips www.www.huffpost.com/entry/remove-sweat-stains_n_1452258/amp
Thank you so much for the great video! and for the 3 minute wrinkle free cycle I never knew
That setting is the best if you have it on your dryer!
Thank you 👍
White sheets, white towels, white shirt, white rug, white bathroom, and of course a black cat. :)
Yes, and a tortie too!
I’ve heard of the Laundress! Sounds like they have great products!
I love The Laundress products. My daughter gave me several items last year for
Christmas and I’m hooked.
Have you tried drying your laundry on your patio? What do you do to avoid too much humidity/mould indoors after washing?
I have traffic outside so I avoid wet clothes out there. Inside there’s under floor heating and a fan.
Does that Organic Basics shirt have pockets?!! 🙌 It looks great on you. Thank you for another calming and inspiring video x
It does! When I discovered that I was like 🙌🏻 *angel choir
@@BenitaLarsson I bet!! 😂🙌
