    I'm using Macromedia Freehand, Adobe Illustrator, Leonardo ai and Adobe Photoshop to experiment with, get ideas and potentially produce artwork for print on demand, although not actually produced my first t-shirt as yet I find your video's of great inspiration and it won't be long before I get my range of artworks uploaded. Many thanks for all your helpful informative and advice, it is truly indispensable and greatfully received. 😊

    Juna, I really wat to thank you - I have learned so much from your videos - I am a self-taught designer, have been working with Affinity since 2017. My first designs were awful and I am still learning. Thank you for showing these techniques. You are the only one who does. Sending much love your way.

    Another Affinity Designer question: where do you find overlay textures, like ones that make designs look aged? Another thing I've wanted many times is the ability to add "lift" that is bigger than the way it comes in Canva. I see it like a "cloud" around the design or letters. I have needed this when I want to make words stand out when they have an image behind them.

    • @DetourShirts

    Hey, Juna. Got my first t-shirt sale on TeePublic last Saturday! I use a combination of Canva, AD, and PlaceIt. Love the Trend Credit; I will have to create something for it. So, how did you make the palm tree black? Also, It took me a couple of seconds to figure out that the layers go "back to front" on the artboard which translates as "bottom to top" in the layers panel. When I clicked on "erase", everything disappeared. I guess I was also suppose to click on the bottom black layer. Anyway, I got rid of the black bottom layer then my silhouette showed the transparent checkerboard design, which I am guessing is what it's suppose to look like if there is no black background (like you created). I am going to have to go back and look at your tutorials where you show how to "knock out" areas. Take care.

    • @DetourShirts
      @DetourShirts  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      You make the palm tree black by coloring everything black... select all and make it black. For the erase part, I'm guessing you forgot to group the hello part and the silhouette part... only those 2 things are in a group.Then if you erase the silhouette from the hello it will only affect the hello part not the whole thing.

    Well, I feel silly. I've been making an ellipse the same size as the hole in the "O." Then cutting the ellipse from the rectangle. Apparently, I like extra steps. I'll be doing your way from now on. I feel silly because I should have thought of that :) I use Affinity Designer and sometimes Affinity Photo. I like the erase too in Photo better. So I'll do a little "Edit in Photo" for that. I prefer removing backgrounds in Photo too.

    I have an Affinity Designer question. I've been using Canva, and I see some things that are better about Affinity, but I miss all the clipart, backgrounds, photos and textures that are available immediately. Does Affinity Designer have anything comparable?

    • @DetourShirts
      @DetourShirts  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Good question! No it doesn't you will have to import those things in.... but it also doesn't have a subscription fee so you can save that subscription fee up and buy some clipart

    • @therapy4everybody
      @therapy4everybody 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@DetourShirts Then I have to import separately each piece of clipart I buy? AD has some stock with Upsmash. Can any other sites be linked the same way? Also, I signed up for vexels, and everything I've searched so far has not had a single clip that I like. Some searches had no results at all. Sigh. Yes, I know you can request one design per month, but that's only one...
