In this Student Spotlight lesson, I will help Vaughan clean up his picking a bit and demonstrate a method for tackling difficult licks.
As you will see in the video, Vaughan has a way of picking that is pretty unorthodox. There have been great players that pick lick that though, but I will demonstrate the benifits of a more traditional picking technique.
I will also demonstrate a way of practicing a difficult lick you may find in a piece of music. The idea of breaking it down into smaller components first is ideal in quickly mastering these licks. You will master the individual elements then slowly put them back together to complete the lick.
If you would to submit a video question for this Student Spotlight series, please send your video to me at guitarlessons365.com/student-...
    Thanks!
    Carl...

There is nothing "mere" about Carl Brown. The guy's literally a guitar god.

Just wanted to say thank you! Your instruction in technique, hand and pick positions really display the heart of a teacher. I hope your efforts are financially rewarded because your time and talent would be definite benefit to any band, studio, orchestra or collegiate music program. Please continue, it gives new hope to us old backsliding players.

Can't believe 1440p vids, you work to hard. But I guess it's not work when you're passionate about something. Thanks Carl, I've been learning off your videos for around 12mths now, your style of teaching is better and better. Thanks again, all the way from down under Australia.

Was wondering if you could do a spotlight on figuring out songs from listening to them. it is my biggest problem I guess my biggest problem is my patience to go through the songs part by part and finding the right notes. Thank you in advance.

You can do it either way. Depends on the lick.

It's way easier playing on acoustic or electric on the clean settings.
I was at Guitar Center at San Francisco showing this same thing to the sales guy.
Then he showed me pretty much the same here.
Mute the strings you don't want to hear.
