Congrats on 800, and thanks for the shoutout! Hopefully you have a good time with them. Hammer and Cross has a lot going on with religion in particular, will be interesting to hear your take on it. 🐞
Its definitely so interesting to see Poe's proto version of the detective story. I've been buddy reading all of Poe for over a year now, and we got to Murders in the Rue Morgue a couple weeks back, and then the "sequel" story the Mystery of Marie Roget this past week coincidentally. They were written a little over a year apart, but he moved leaps and bounds toward more of the model you would expect in detective fiction in the latter, and as you say he's years ahead of like Willie Collins or Sherlock stories still
ill keep an eye out for the sequel mystery of marie roget, im interested if an Orangutan will be involved again or maybe a lion lol i did listen to a couple of the Lovecraft podcasts when you first mentioned it. just one of those things i didnt keep up with but thanks for putting it back on my radar cause i did enjoy it. i look forward to watching your review of the rest of the Southerner reach series im sure theres a lot im missing by just watching a review
