Hi Mate, did the same work. Bought the lock from BMAC (or something like that). Really good price. Recommended! In Italy they asked me for a lot more (I mean, way lot!!). I use this same car of yours when in Italy for nearly a month but I live in UK. This flipping beeping drove me mad for about two years (2 months basically). The fun part is that as soon as I replaced it, the noise was still on and I came upstairs feeling defeated and sad. Rewatched your video again. Then I noticed that around 4:10 you locked and unlocked the card door locks. Ran downstairs in the garage, switched on the car and the "nightmarish" noise was gone for good!!! Pray the Lord!!! and, of course, you!!! Thanks a lot. BTW, little info: I spent two hours to replace the lock: 1 hour and 45 minutes for that little plastic thing that holds the metal rod from the external lock attached to the car door lock. You did show in your previous video that indeed it drove you mad) and 15 minutes for the rest.
Thanks for the video mate. I also have the same problem and first I've tried by lubricating, will keep doing it for a couple of days to see if it works, else I'll have to change the lock as you did. IMPORTANT! You can turn off that bloody sound by engaging (or disengaging and engaging) the child lock on the doors. Furthermore, if your door doesn't lock when closing the car, there's a way to lock it manually on the side of the door near the child's lock.
You are a very Efficient bloke are you mate because I'm not a car driver I'm here for the Ebikes but I still watch your blogs and you are a good watch plus you are teaching me about fixing Cars,I bet you've saved some money over the years being clever like this most people to to a garage, you do it yourself!Fantastic, Credence to you Sir Brilliant Blog as ever
Thanks for the videos on this matter. Had the same issue. Treated myself to an ebay Vauxcom unit and software, identified it was the right rear lock. Just swapped the locks out using this guide and everything works properly again, took me about an hour. Spent around £100 in parts, trim tools and the vauxcom sensor/software. Got to refit the door card now. Thanks again.
This video was a lifesaver! Issue was right rear lock. Wd40 worked for a while, till it didn't, so prdered a lock and changed it. It then worked fine for 2 days. Since them, my front passanger side door will not lock at all. Alarm is back and sign on dash. Any advice please? It is constant beeping! I can't take it anymore and taking it to a mechanic is not feasible right now. Thank you!
It's incredibly difficult to diagnose an issue over the internet. If the rear lock was changed and the front door immediately started playing up then the issue must be something to do with that.
That's great when mine goes i wont worry to much. Wife managed to damage the rear door same colour as yours on a railing so looking for a replacement door although its still operational so no rush.
Great vid. I have the exact same problem on my Meriva but I'm not confident enough to do it myslef. A shame really because I dread to think how much a garage is going to cost .... I shall certainly keep away from the main dealers though!! Thanks again for the post
I had the same problem on my mariva b last week ordered a new lock all fixed now Just to let u know it’s easier to take the out side handle off then the whole lock drapes down
This lock problem seems pretty common. Thanks for the tip. On my second attempt though I found just unclipping the rod much easier than undoing the handle 👍
Hi just a pit P**** off at the moment. Had the same problem for years bought the RH lock, fitted it today and SAME problem. Every time I break and pull away the locks lock maybe 5 times every time. The locks have even locked the doors when I have left the keys in. TOTAL nightmare this car !! Has anyone found a cure for this problem.?? I know lots have replaced the lock and no change.
@@JIMMIX7 did you Identify the faulty lock with vaux software first? And have you tried a battery disconnect to reset everything. Probably won't work, but worth a shot 👍
Had a test done and showed RH side. Changed today. No changes. Getting another diagnostic check done now Bloody expensive game this. Need to sell the car !! Just had another test done and now showing the LH side so I suppose I will have to replace that one too.
An update on the Locks. I bought the Left hand lock, fitted it today and fingeres crossed it has done the job. No warning light and NO terrible alarm bell sounding all the time. So to fix the problem I had to change BOTH rear locks for which the garage would've charged me £600 to £800 easily. That white plastic clip is terrible to release, but can be done. I found removing the door cards took the longest time.
Hi, when the lamp came on and the beeping sound also, the door lock seemed to work fine? Or you noticed any problem with locking and unlocking the specific door?
@@stathisdiamantopoulos7348 everyone's problem is always slightly different. There are 4 micro switches in the lock, if one of them fails then it will show up as a fault.
The diagnostic shows problem with both rear doors (b2523 and b2524 with automatic locking switch stuck). I have just replaced front left (because it had obvious problem - didn't unlock from the inside all the other doors- without warning lamp or beeping) AND rear left lock, with new OE locks. The problem persists. I assume with your help that b2524 is a positive alarm code (rear right door lock), although the door seems to lock fine...
Helpful video. Thank you. I had an issue with both rear door locks. I managed to change both parts and thankfully it has solved the issue. Unfortunately I'm left with another less annoying problem. One of the rear doors now only locks after pressing the lock button on the key several times. Same issue if I lock the car manually by turning the key. Does anyone have any ideas why this may be and how to solve it? Many thanks.
@@baconbuttties Hi, thank you for your reply. It definitely sounds as though it is trying to work on each press. I've determined it takes exactly three presses to lock every time. Tried to wobble the lock about a bit and turn the child lock on and off repeatedly but unfortunately no joy.
@@dicry146 If it is trying to work then it might be a weak locking motor or the locks and components are stiff/binding . Did the lock problem happen straight after installing the new mechanisms?

Hi guys i bought the a new part in ebay the same price 85 pound but i still have the red warning light and also when i Drive and stop the keep locking and unlocking
Saved time doing it but unfortunatly I had no success. Tried wd40 with no luck. Checked all wires running through the door apature and fitted new lock unit from Ebay ( not the cheapest offer ) but still no luck. Had same experience on both sides. First time round we returned the ebay parts and paid a garage 500 gbp to fit a different new lock and that worked. Other side failed shortly after and we have no interest in paying 500 gbp for a few weeks of it working. Tried another lock from a different ebay trader, a large company from a proper warehouse, but the new part did not work. Again, checked every wire that ran through the door from the lock connection block to the block on the inside of the door pillar. All wires had good connection. Either there is some computer malfunction or I have been sold broken parts from the ebay dealers. Car belongs to a fmaily member and I have advised them to buy a Honda or Toyota.
Would be interested if you do do a fuse and relay walk through on each of the 3 locations thank you. As iam trying to find the headlight relay to replace due to flashing Headlights from stationery. Which is lethal at a junction as you can imagine.
My car has recently just developed the same problem. I’ve just found that activating the child lock on both rear doors seems to have stopped the alarm. The warning is still on the dash but no alarm so driving is bearable again. I have two kids but had deactivated child lock on the older ones side. She’ll just have to deal with childlock being on for a while until I can get the lock replaced. It sounds like any of these 8 microswitches (4 per rear door) going faulty results in the same alarm but it might be the case that there’s a way to get the alarm to stop depending on which micro switch is at fault.
Morning Baconbutties. I have a problem and wondered if you know what should be done. We have a vauxall Meriva 2012. Few weeks back started to notice a problem with steering and all kind of errors were popping up. Took it to my mechanic, said needed new battery and possibly problem with Power steering pump. Bought new battery, that sorted part of the problem. I had to call Picador Vauxall dealers in chandlers ford. They were brilliant. they told me if the problem is the Pump and it will be changed for free as I haven't done 100k with the car, so still under warranty. Now I have changed the battery and the pump, but still having some issues. Radio keeps cutting off, when it does, the headlights starts to flick, indicator sounds stops working and parking sensor does too. I am sure it's something electrical but don't want to spend more money without knowing what is the issue. Also, I was driving it today and it jolted a couple of times. Does anyone experienced something similar or have any idea what it could be so I can go to the mechanic and limit the job to like one hour rather than hours. Many thanks in advance
