Ok. The curiosity was killing me. I have all Marshall Tube amps. I had to try some Orange amps. I bought Dark Terror and the Orange Terror. Hated them both individually. I did find if you run in dual mono or stereo and EQ them right you get one decent sound. I sent them both back to the store. I then bought the Orange Super Crush 100 and, honestly, I was kinda blown away. It sounds pretty damn good! I'm a gear snob and thought I would never be caught owning a solid state amp. I ran a 10 band EQ though the FX loop and it really made the Super Crush shine. Best of all, I ran it stereo with my JCM800 2203 though a 1960B Cab loaded with Celestion G12H75 Cream backs and Vintage 30s. It is absolutely heaven. You get the openness and airiness of the Marshall tube amp with the added midrange bite of the Super Crush 100. I think I have finally found "my sound". I keeping the Super Crush for the long haul.
Haha fair enough man... my truth isn't going to be everybody else's truth... but I have made a video about running a 10 band EQ in the FX Loop of a Super Crush and praised the sound I got from it on my video "Americanizing an Orange Super Crush". Out of the box It's a piece of junk in my eyes, completely changing it's voicing with an EQ is the only thing that saves it.
Yes I was also considering the super crush, but the dark terror has more snarl. And that's the sound I prefer. I also think it's because I prefer a tube amp. Is the terror a tube amp not solid state? Love its shape dial.
Yeah it It as I own one also, ya better off cutting the mids and running an eq pedal in the loop where if u want a lil more mids u can boost on pedal, or just flavour to taste but the way this amp sounds best on both channels is, mater volume at 10 then use channel volumes to taste
Are you running any kind of attenuator/load box? That Dark Terror just has a fatness you wouldn’t expect from a 15w amp. In an ideal world, yeah, I’d blend them too, but either or? Dark Terror. That’s the sickest sound I’ve heard out of EL84s!
The supercrush kicks ass on-stage the dark terror gets lost in the mix it's not loud enough, blah blah about the tube crap, a decent eq pedal in the super crush loop will compare to most amps, plus live no one going to give a hoot as long as u play well, dimebag was ss so go eat a fat one all.u tube lovers
I wish i'd found some of your videos before buying the super crush... its a let down for me. My dark Terror sounds so much better... i bought the super crush hoping to have an affordable avenue to a similar tone with more head room but the SC is just dead sounding in comparison. If they made a 50w dark terror id be all over that shit. To be fair, for some kid just starting out, the super crush isnt a terrible amp to get you started gigging, but i guess I'm one of those dudes that cant go back to SS after playing tube amps.
Transiters amp good for beginners playing basic chords. But a valve cranked with lead then your transistor amp will be blown off stage. Witha kick ass mashall and not that dsl from china garbage

I loved the Dark Terror. The one I played at a friend’s house has a lot of lower mids! Crushing tone too.

Yes it's a full tube amp 👍
I'd blend the two together to be honest. Put the Dark Terror hard left, and the SuperCrush hard right.
The Super Crush 100 is very midrange focused. It might sound better if you have 2 or 3 EQ's hooked up.

Nar mate I don't bother with any attenuators / load boxes.
I never got into the orange amps I've brought and tried, but they never grew on me. We should have a jam at some point I'm in Wellard.
