@@AncientInsights1 I concur but as I stated earlier, it is the consequence of war. My grandpa was tortured by the Biafra soldiers and his big toe was cut off because he would not give up my father. Biafra soldiers killed my tribesmen in the creeks. So my friend it is the consequence of war.

History has a way of repeating itself or re-telling its old story. I am sure you remembered that it was the late Col. Taiwo, who was then a major, was the one who literally shot the people under the leadership of Col. Muritala Ramat Mohammed...the GOC 2-Division.
Watch this: it was also alleged that the Son of major Taiwo who lost his life in a coupe d'etat as the Governor of Kwara State may have been the brigadier general who fired the shots at Lakki toll gate.
Can you see History! People, please never get yourself involved in blood... no, no, no, because you may be too small to adequately handle the issues in the future. Blood is thicker than water.

The so called revenge for the role Nzeogwu played during the January 1966 must have been the senseless reason for the massacre.
The traces of hatred between the Igbos and Hausas is still felt today. I am sorry but I feel no pity for Ibrahim Taiwo and Muritala Mohammed. What goes around comes around !!!

This account didn't capture everything about the Asaba massacre. The main massacre was when the military lured the indigenous to come and welcome the military leadership. And the people were willing so long the front line has come past them. There were no more fears because the town had been captured. It was a peace time, supposedly.
They came out in their numbers, the military separated the indigenous men from the women and children, and had them shot.
This is how it has been told, written, and shared with the population over the years.
