    LOL. 1yr+ the J-Max hasn’t needed recalibration. But cleaned it a while back. Didn’t know how to recalibrate. So that’ll be fun. Thank you.

    I just bought this grinder yesterday to replace my Timemore Nano (too small grinder for espresso to be honest), and I want to say thanks to you for your tips and I'll start testing with your grind settings at 1.1.2 to 1.2.0

    Your advice on weekly calibration is very helpful. I recently purchased a ZP6 Special and performed a calibration when I received it. Now, it is time for me to calibrate it again.

    Thanks a ton for great explanation of the calibrating process, really looks simple after watching exact steps taken. It's great to see such a high quality, relly looks like new after year of use, which also shows you have very good care of it. I'm stepping up from simple travel Porlex JP-30, which is seving me for about 5 years already with excellent results. Though some medium-light roast beans requre up to 300 turns on JP-30, which is way too much of effort for each espresso cup. Looking forward to use 1Zpresso J-Max!

      It's interesting to me that you mention 300 turns. The J-max must have an aggressive feed rate. I've watched videos of others grinding light roast beans (on different grinders) with seemingly little effort. Since I primarily drink espresso, I avoid light roast because it's so hard to grind.

    • @IuriiZ
      @IuriiZ ปีที่แล้ว

      @@joncain3189 Yeah, so much agree on avoiding light roast for espresso. Pack mentioned medium-light roast and I didnt try that beans before. Typically it goes in a range of 120-150 turns for other beans, and it was big surprise when I observed the waterfall even with 200 turns, and not getting good espresso until elevated to 260-300 rotation range. I think J-Max can produce same amount with half number of turns. It will definitely save me lot of time and effort and will allow to handle such unpredicted bean grinding. It's great to see so negligible wear of anodized coat that I may give it a shot for darker version.

      you don't unless you take it apart. it's not going to drift on you unless you adjust it. you're supposed to clean it every 4-6 weeks of grinding, so you re-calibrate every time you take it apart to clean, but no need to do a weekly calibration

    It’s nice to finally find a review from an actual owner and not a marketer. I think am good with puck prep but this grinder is driving me mad. No matter what I can’t get a 1:2 ratio in 25 to 30 seconds. Could you plz tell me what’s your grind range on it? I will definitely take your advice and recalibrate to see if that helps solve my problem

    Have you been able to rinse out this grinder completely and not have any rusting problems?

    • @joncain3189

      If I were to clean out the inside, I would use q-tips and distilled water (sparingly).

      @@joncain3189 What about cleaning out the grinds cup, the one with the magnets, flushing it out with water or soaking it?

    • @joncain3189
      @joncain3189  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      1zpresso says not to use water at all. I personally go against that and use distilled water sparingly.

    • @MikeEdwards-j9g
      @MikeEdwards-j9g 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      there is ZERO need to rinse it out or wash it. wipe it down with a rag and q-tips. the oils from the coffee will season the burrs and there's no need to rinse it at all.

    Why do you need to calibrate it once a week?

    • @joncain3189
      @joncain3189  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You don't have to. But, it takes 30 seconds and it prevents one of the variables from drifting on you.
      You might look back at a setting you had for a specific coffee and you want it to match it. You always want 100 to be 100.

    • @eduardofcgo
      @eduardofcgo ปีที่แล้ว

      @@joncain3189 I get what the calibration does, but why does it drift? This makes the grind completely unreliable after a fee days

    • @joncain3189
      @joncain3189  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@eduardofcgo it doesn't drift in the sense that it's flawed. I just personally discovered that it wasn't properly calibrated and it caused me some trouble. Since then I choose to check it regularly.

    Да не проще сразу поставить в ноль и закрутить сверху до упора? И не надо гонять кольцо туда сюда по 100 раз.

    • @piotr433
      @piotr433 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Надо только сильно подпереть чем-то снизу, пальцем не получится. Я ставлю на кубик от лего и сильно нажимаю сверху на корпус.
