Also took a leaf our of your book and used the olive green epoxy, then a white high build primer etc, makes it so much easier to see when you've burned through. Little things :)
Brilliant mate! It's fantastic stuff isn't it! I use different coloured highbuild specifically sometimes so I can gauge how much material I have left to work with, good little guide! 😊
Highly reccomend the finer media and different gun attachment, I couldn't believe how well it worked! Especially compared to when we used it in the past. Good little bit of kit and actually a very enjoyable process!
Your doing this just to spite me aren’t you 😂😂 I do wish I still had mine now but we can’t turn the clock back lol great job J and the right way to do it I think should last for Donks after this amount of effort 🤞👍
😂😂😂 going to dedicate each and every video to you now going forwards 🤣 Should do mate, I'll confidently say it'll be done to a far better standard than it ever was from the factory (they just didn't even try to rust proof these little things 😂)
Looks really promising: there doesn't appear to be too much rust left to deal with at the front end and I'm pleased that you have taken steps to prevent future problems. Media blasting is a messy and unpleasant job but, in my opinion, is the best way to go. Some commenters on TH-cam always want restorers to use acid dipping but that means using specialist facilities and I am always wary that some corrosive residues could remain in inaccessible places and not be neutralised. I look forward to future progress as and when your time allows. Best wishes.
Thanks George, no I'm happy with how it came out for sure! Realistically, there is virtually nothing I can't get to with this car... inner of both sills has been done already, same with the rear quarters. So there literally are no hidden areas now, blasting was the way to go for me 😌 perhaps if there were a tonne of inaccessible cavities I may have considered a different approach, but for how this car is, I'm pleased!
Mate it's the worst! 🤣 definitely need a haircut anyway, but yes, it gets everywhere!! 😂 Good little unit tbf, seriously impressed with it this time round
Thanks mate! Yes of course, this is the one I went for! I think I'll go ever so slightly more aggressive next time, balance between the stripping action and the dust/mess it makes for me! www.sandblasters.co.uk/aluminium-oxide-180220-brown-blasting-media-very-fine-1269-p.asp
The blasting must take its toll on the compressor, i painted my unit over xmas with a shulzts gun and burnt out the thermal swicht but they're cheap so no worries . Great little project 👍👍👍
Tbf mate our compressor is worked fairly hard as is... just one of those isn't it, should be alright in this cooler weather at least but I wouldn't want to do it in the middle of summer for sure! 😂
No mate, I went back in with a finer media again to fully neutralise the rust, then just your standard panel wipe and degrease several times over.... the media I used keyed it up beautifully

Another brilliant vid Jay. Keep them coming
Editing the next as we speak buddy 😌
Well done jay. That sand blaster is a really good job. Think I might have to look into getting one.

I just know that’s gonna be a work of art great video mate
Thank you! Appreciate this so much! A fair way off yet though 😂
Excellent work ! That shot blaster looks like fun. I bet you are still washing the grit out of your hair though !

Glad there is another upload
Be cracking on as and when I can with this one mate! 😊
Love the content
Have you got a link for the media used?
Keep up the great work

that front panel would make a great bit of wall art 😉
You've guessed it mate... 🇮🇹😂

Can you put that blasting material back through and use it again?
Yes mate, sieve it and it's good to go again. Loses a bit of it's cut every time, and becomes dustier as you go. But it is a reusable media 😊
Did you do anything to prepare the panel between blasting and epoxy? Apart from blowing it off?
No mate, I went back in with a finer media again to fully neutralise the rust, then just your standard panel wipe and degrease several times over.... the media I used keyed it up beautifully
Es mas chico que el 600 ?
Si es mas pequeño
You'll be finding sand in places you didn't know you had for years after that. Come up nice for the most part hasn't it ? Very theraputic ...
I can't even get it out of my shoes let alone the car 😂😂 yes mate come out nicely, very impressed with it actually!
