Thanks for the question. The easiest thing would be to screw through the board into your window frame. This would be an inside-mounted shade and would block light effectively. I hope this helps.
Holly: You could try using the EZ-Rig system so the lift system is screwed into place and stays up but the fabric can come off for cleaning. (See several EZ-Rig videos on our channel.) To clean a shade you need to remove it from the lift system and remove the lift cords - then restring it once cleaned and hope the fabric has not shifted or shrunk. Generally, it’s easier just to do regular dusting of the shade than to go through true cleaning/washing/dry cleaning without problems. Good luck!

I have made several roman shades and am about to make more..however, having them screwed into wood frame of window it makes them hard to take down to clean..I have thoughts on how to put them up without screwing the fabric into wooden piece..any ideas?
A basic roman shade making with the help of cord shroud tape. It’s an amazing knowledgeable clipping which can be easily implemented.
