cap n jazz seriously blows my mind. i've been listening to this for years and it really just gets better. I can't believe how young these guys were. i wish I had half the talent these guys do
Holy shit, most of the comments on this video are from years ago! I wonder at what point in the far future I’ll come back here and find my own comment acting as some sort of adolescent time capsule for the few who search to come find?
Born too late to experience these guys in their prime but lucky enough to experience them at all, might be goin to best friends forever in las vagas to see them Love cap’n jazz
what do you mean, a band? a friend group? doing cool shit when you're young? if so i relate, how old were they all in this video? if u say 18 fuck bc im 17 and haven't played a show yet.
William Stagi I searched it up, Tom actually had 2 years on u at this point. Mike when he started American football was 21. Yr at the perfect age. Get to work, man
same boat as you man, turning 18 next month, i dont think youre too old and same goes for anyone else. good music is timeless, and i truly believe this band is timeless. you also gotta realize that all these guys were around the same age as us when these songs were made and performed
I'm 21 and I'm pretty sure that's older than Tim ever was while Cap'n Jazz was originally happening. You're only as old as you feel so might as well just get to work now before you end up wasting too much time
How the fuck can anyone complain about when they're being born when we're right in the midst of an incredible emo/punk revival. Algernon, snowing, grownups, so may amazing bands. If you aren't happy with the music, make it better yourself!
if i could be born at anytime in history, i would want to be born in urbana, illinois in 1975, had gone to school with the kinsella brothers and grown up in this music scene.
@SuperiFox on old memories or daydreaming about bands you could have seen. But there's always the same amount of talent in the world. It's about who is putting it to use and who is finding it.
@SuperiFox Scene kids? The whole scene thing died out before it even got started. There are so many great emo bands today that everyone's neglecting. Two, for instance, My Heart to Joy and Joie de Vivre who unfortunately just broke up. But seriously listen to snowing, hightide hotel, everyone everywhere, grown ups, algernon, sinaloa. You're missing out. Even post hardcore is still fucking awesome. Check out we were skeletons and daniel striped tiger. There's nothing wrong with reminiscing
What happened to the rest of this show? It was on TH-cam for a sec. I was elated cause I'd been waiting for easily a decade. Seems like whoever posted it either took it down or deleted their account.
And you are If I’m really your addiction Then im only like you know I want to be And you are If I’m really such a germ Then I’m only like you want me to be And if you have to ask what I have to be And you are colder than your oldness And you are bolder than buzzing bugs
Back in the days this band was operating, there was no internet or social media to steal your time. Put a LOT of time into it. Get involved in scenes, go to shows, play shows, make friends in the scene. Don't worry so much about doing something original, just find your voice
I wish I was born in the olde times of the first emo artists. Would have been cool to grow up with that instead of repetitive crunk songs and Auto-Tune. (I'm 1994)

Hard to believe that Tim was fifteen and his brother Mike was twelve when they formed.
25 now, got into this type of music about 11-12 years ago… man, time passes, but my love for this type of music never did.
I will never not be jealous of people who got to see this live.
I love this band, I love this song. Tim Kinsella it's a underrated musician.
I'm feeling old reading all these comments even though I'm 22.
Best Music of you're 30 now
now you're old
now you're 30.
32
Geez, I'm a fetus
You’re an old man now sir :(
I love this band, the fact that they just released one album kinda makes it more special to me
30 whole years since this live today

You commented on the comments, so I doubt anyone will care 🤷♂️
I just got a reply to one of mine posted 9 years ago. Totally forgot this video existed. Very glad it does. See you here again in 2030

Can't believe I was literally 5 days old when they played this show
I was 3 when this was made, and little did I know I was going to sit and watch this and enjoy it today.
Enjoy it again today.
So happy i found this band even if it’s in 2023 🙏🏽
Does anyone understand how Tim changed the lyrics here? It almost sounds more interesting than on the album, really want to know the altered lyrics.
I hope you found the lyrics, friend.
Any news?

Ooh, cap'n jazz, how I love you.
'Tis enough to give goose pimples to a...goose..or something.
My all time favourite band.
10 years later and your name is still a reference to capn jazz, very dedicated fan
Man, I love this song... Such a classic.
I'm only 18 but I'm scared I've gotten to old to have something like this

i cant stop listening to this f sh*t. so raw and perfect
From this band, you get The Promise Ring and also American Football.
God I miss this band. One of the best emo hXc albums of all time.
So much raw emotion. I love it

Literally Bob Nanna
Like a dream. You’re wandering around a house that’s all too familiar. You hear a band playing. You look over and see this. A moment to remember
yes I feel that
so much energy this is amazing
It makes me cry. This is my hometown...
I’m 25. It’s December 2023. I just discovered this band today. Wish me luck
some years ago someone posted the full video from this show on youtube but it disappeared, what a shame. but thanks for this small piece : )
@SuperiFox on old memories or daydreaming about bands you could have seen. But there's always the same amount of talent in the world. It's about who is putting it to use and who is finding it.
Too good for words in a comment box
1994?! Fuck me. This is amazing but I hadn't even been born yet :O
So long ago.
crazy that this is from 30 years ago
and Joyce Manor, Big Kids, Summer Vacation :)
Yep Emo revival realy started to kick off in 09'

Oh god, I totally agree with stop08it. I wasn't even born yet when this video happened.
Wild
awesome song
wish i was there.
I like how literally nobody but mike is playing their part correct
lovely
Skramz is the term given to new, revivalist screamo, not an alias for old screamo.
this is the best
didn´t you hear that they play unannounced and soldout reunion shows? I nearly cried when I heard that...
Even Davey had joined them again.
holy shit this is awesome
i cannot stop laughing.
Now this is real emo music. No black outfits, no slicing your arms, and no eyeliner, just raw emotion.
oh god
this is definitely someone who says “real emo”
also what does slicing arms have to do with emo? sounds like ur just pressed
its giving "real emo only consists of..."

Wow I found an old comment of mine. I'm rediscovering Shmappin Schmazz
@Paternstart : you hear certain things about their future...
And you are
If I’m really your addiction

Take me back 14 years
It sounds so terrible but more importantly beautiful
These guys, modest mouse, pixies
i'm gonna sound like an annoying kid but i'm 15 and hoping to put together a band with friends. does anyone have tips?

CODY SCHWARTZ
the video wouldn't be half as great as this one if it wasn't for its amateurish tones
the vanguard is the first casualty. Think of the countless shit bands that ripped this off and made paydirt.

that doesn't make a whole lot of sense
saetia is way better
Lmao they’re soooo bad live
Vocal-wise, that's the beauty of it. Instruments-wise, audio quality is pretty crap.
i bet they'd blow your mind if you'd be there
