Beric and the Brotherhood have to be one of my favorite interpretations of Robin Hood and his Merry Men. As if GRRM tried to make a modern spin on them. Same concept of rebelling againt a new king but they turn into a group that help the defenseless everywhere. Only they happen to have mystical powers. At the same they are a shade of grey characters, they kill people, they can take you hostage and in the case of Gendry, they traded him for money. They have a modern edge about them at the same time I love that Beric talks and has maneurism of a Erol Flynn. Swashbuckling speach pattern of the great stage actors like Richard Burton. The results is nothing short of awesome.
Beric and Thoros are (were) my favorite characters in the show. The actors did such amazing renditions of them on the screen that they instantly made me want to see more of them. Already missing Thoros. Their charisma with the hound was amazing.
Just saying, he was also "The Lightning Lord", because he was always so sudden with his attacks, and faded into the wilderness before the enemies could do much.

Fantasy and sci-fi like things can be overwhelmingly headass but asoi&f does not, that last kiss segment was so hard and would have been cool as hell in cinema

I actually really like Thoros as a foil for Robert, perhaps a different side of a same coin-like Thoros’s relatively unimpactful stakes of mission failure (nobody really cares that he didn’t convert Ares, he got to stick around) versus Robert’s cataclysmic impact as a failed regent? Like we look at Thoros and we’re kind of like, “Well, that’s what Robert should have been up to-Tourneys and drinking and whoring and hunting, cuz that’s what he was good at.” But he was a terrible ruler. He leaves the kingdom in such an insanely vulnerable state and then goes and gets himself fuckin killed. Just an idiot and a terrible king. Imagine if Thoros had been king. Yikes! Trainwreck, right? Well, that’s what the seven kingdoms got. ‘Basically Thoros’ for king. They were doomed from the start.

Why did beric give his life for catelyn? What did he feel she needed to come back and accomplish? Revenge against her enemies would be odd. Beric could have added it to his cause.

But they didn’t ruin the hound or sully either of the two. Both held their intention and went out like champs. I hate to be that guy but the books are so much better, even if it is wordy and boring a lot of the time. Character development and the inner workings of how they think is amazing. I’m also pissed that they cut Jamie standing sigil for Tywin. That chapters as dope
