I think the reason why they rarely used the Megazord suits for MMPR is because either they don’t have anyone back then willing to be in the suit, or they can just result to using stock footage first
Particularly in seasons 2 and 3, the monsters and those Zords didn’t appear together in the original Sentai footage, so that’s why we never see them make contact in those seasons. They usually just took footage of the monster, and spliced it (kinda badly) with footage of the megazord. Sometimes, you can even see the wrong megazord for a split second.
Those were the Master suits ie the best condition ones for close ups. They couldn't exactly attach squibs to it. They did actually film a Zyu2 monster vs the Thunder Megazord- the Octophantom gets punched by it but it's a close up on the fist.
I always thought the episode where Trini's doll comes to life was the worst. His name was Mr. Ticklesneezer or something ridiculous like that. The whole time they're fighting him he's going, "Oh gosh, I don't want anyone to get hurt!" Then it all turns out to be Trini's dream in the end, the most cliched copout ending to anything ever.
And there was an error, where they showed a kid with him (he was from the Zyuranger version of the episode, and they tried editing him out, but missed one quick shot of him)
A better example of a “back door pilot” is the 2 episodes in J.A.G. that acted as a back door pilot for N.C.I.S., and the episodes are canon to both shows.
@Este Not a lot of people seem to know this, but the Masked Rider show actually did reciprocate/acknowledge the "back door pilot" from MMPR as being in continuity with the Masked Rider show itself. I think the reason more people don't know this though is because the acknowledgment came in the form of a flashback from an extended scene that was never televised. The extended scene could be found exclusively on the VHS copy of the episode Super Gold in the United States. Just before departing Edenoi to give Dex the Super Gold powers (and before being brainwashed into becoming Robo Rider) Donais has a brief discussion with King Lexian about Edenoi's continued involvement in interfering with Count Dregon's conquest of Earth to which Lexian reminds Donais that it is the least they could do as Earth is only in this position because its inhabitants once came to Edenoi's aid (cue the flashback scenes from the MMPR back door pilot).
My least favorite MMPR episodes is the Ninja Encounter 3 part episodes from season 2. The dad and his son were real annoying. Sad that was the episodes that Rocky, Adam, and Aisha had to be introduced in.
Well it’s not like they necessarily planned on writing this episode, however I do feel like the tone of the season really changed once Austin, Thuy and Walter left
I feel like this episode really should've been a two-parter instead of a three-parter. The reused Hatchasaurus footage was completely unnecessary and existed only to have the storyline be an extra episode. If the storyline HAD to be three episodes and HAD to include two monsters then have the other one be the Needlenose Cactus Monster from the "Wild West Rangers" two-parter. I might've been a better fit with the Terror Blossom Monster. You know, Cactus . . . Flower. As for what monster could've been featured in the later two-parter instead? There was another Dairanger monster that didn't get used that might've worked. He was a Bird Cage monster with a golden peg-leg and a Mexican sombrero. Maybe that thought using it would be racist, but I seemed like it might've fit with the Wild West ascetic of that storyline.
The most hilarious monster in MMPR was Shellshock. A turtle that can switch out its appendages with a bat, a hook, a cannon and... oh yeah it has a traffic light sticking up out of its back.
I'm surprised "Big Sisters" was not on the list. With its own silly monster, The Chunky Chicken. Seriously, the Chunky Chicken, sounds like something you order off of a menu.
TBF, the Sentai counterpart to Switching Places (Zyuranger Episode 11) did have The Genie being Aladdin's Genie so it made sense to use the Aladdin toy lamp
Odd fact: Masked Rider (A friend in need) premiered on the UK right after the Season 3 premiere. Anyone who knows both these stories knows the continuity flaw this created. We see the Rangers call the Thunderzords 15 minutes after Rito Revolto just destroyed them.
Yeah and season 3 they finally got the actual suits from Japan but then well they got destroyed and then got new powers it's kind of sucks that they just get the seats and just use them once or twice
The Great Bookala Escape is one of my favorite episodes. I love Bookala's voice, and its rare when we get "good" monsters. He had a cool little backstory. He and Billy came off as genuine friends and I'd like to see him come back. I'm genuinely surprised Ninja Encounter didn't make it onto the list, as those episodes drsh on forever and have one of the worst monsters ever ,who actually falls apart on camera! The flower monster, a few of his flowers fall off!

I have to agree with the first few but honestly the bookala episode and rocky just wants to have fun are top 5 best for me. I can’t believe people have such a bad opinion of episodes that I’ve always valued. Great video anyway. I’d like to see this with more series too and maybe a top 5 best mmpr episodes video.
I find "switching places" kinda funny, I find "Rocky wants to have fun" to be just an okay episode, and I enjoy "the great bookala escape" because it kinda reminds me of Steven Spielberg's E.T. the extra terrestrial.
Zordon had the lamp with the cat guy from mystic force in it!!!! He must have purified it after Rita made the genie or Genji as he was called a monster.
Big Sisters is a mixed bag for me. Goofy beyond belief, but holds a special place for me, do to the one and only (and most powerful villains ever), Chunky Chicken.

The Pudgy Pig episode was pretty bad. And there was the Wedding episodes that trapped the Rangers in a theater to keep them out of the way, and focused more on Rita and Zedd's wedding. And then we have the TMNT/Ranger crossover, though that was In Space.

I had the pachinko episode on VHS! I always thought it was really funny. And then all of a sudden serpentera shows up and it's a serious megazord fight with no talking just music.
It's made for kids, as a kid, it's awesome, but as we got older, we realized how ridiculous some of the episodes are, but we just have to appreciate it and remember that back then, it's the coolest thing for us.
Storybook ranger 2 parter really showed how low the budget was on the show cause while Mondo the Magician was in the book he looked like just a cardboard cutout before he is released from the book and shown from Gosei Sentai I Dairanger since the monsters were Dairanger monsters with Zyuranger 2 ranger footage spliced in for the rangers to allow the rangers to keep the same suits except for Tommy who was the only Dairanger ranger footage ever used in the show
Dark Warrior was a bad episode Trini is so obnoxious in that one like “haha loser my uncle is famous” Also, why was that a billy episode and not a Trini episode?!?!
I jumped on when Netflix had every season, was a rough 9.5 months binging them, but we got to the end eventually.. and it was strangely satisfying to reach the end of Beast Morphers at the time
Sometimes when I watch season 2 of power Rangers mighty Morphin I can tell when they use Japanese footage of dairanger like I'll see the mighty Morphin Red ranger fight a monsters and it Rocky mountain but the American footage of looks so different that's obvious it's not the same footage just doesn't fit the scenes sometimes behind the scenes doesn't make sense really choppy footage in the old episodes

Oh please. The super megaforce episode where Jake and Noah switch bodies was a lot better than this one. Even with the random yellow super megaforce key during the final strike weapon finisher. They should’ve just given this episode a redo with the super megaforce cast.

A month late to this video but I honestly don't have a just one.. my least favorite episodes were ones where they broke a characters character for the sake of the plot. An example is the episode mighty morphin mutants. In which Tommy's character arc for the episode is that he's forgetful and needs to do better. But this is episode 59. Tommy has been there since episode 17 meaning we have over 40 episodes (can't remember how many he wasn't in after losing his powers) where his forgetfulness is not an issue and it never is again.

I liked A Friend in Need but it definitely had a lot of problems. They should’ve built up the Masked Rider a bit more because while I was intrigued I never felt any real motivation to see the Masked Rider show. Considering how great Kamen Rider Black is, getting two seasons and an upcoming reboot, I am scared Masked Rider would be another Super Megaforce situation, except worse since Masked Rider didn’t last very long from what I heard.

i have a lot of vivid memories of my childhood watching with my cousin rocky just wants to have fun so to me personally i actually have it as one of my favorite episodes.
"The Ninja Encounter" 3-parter despite introducing Rocky, Aisha and Adam (as Jason, Trini and Zack's actors had quit by this point). Particularly Part 2 as it was just a load of pointless filler. The rangers split into 2 teams. Tommy, Kimberly and Billy are about to rescue their new friends. But have to abort and help the other 3 rangers (to avoid hearing too much of the bad voice doubles) after today's monster, Terror Blossom, conjures up an old monster, Hatchasaurus. Then after defeating Hatchasaurus through badly edited Zyuranger/Dairanger footage, they split again, only for Jason, Trini and Zack to get frozen by Terror Blossom. So the others once again have to abort the rescue to come to their aid.
Personally I never liked "High Five", even for an early episode, it is a huge mess and the plot of a timewarp in a fucking rocket never made sense to me
E SQUAD 😤 I hope this gets used in a video idea I’d like to see you play with (probably too long tho). I got the idea from a 6th ranger video. Create a god squad of rangers. Let’s take a team, any 6 ranger team. And pick someone to be that color. Their original color doesn’t matter. You have 6 selections, when you pick someone, the rest of their team becomes ineligible. So if you pick Tommy, you can’t use any MMPR, Zeo, or DT team members other than him. Have fun!
It sure was a genius move for the power rangers TH-cam channel to get the full seasons weekly. I got them all except for samurai last year months before they went TH-cam. (Samurai is hard to find and really expensive) they place it on the TH-cam channel all the time so I'm good.
There was an old episode of power Rangers about slime like 2 minutes in the episode they talk about slime they forgot about it for the rest of the show and mighty Morphin it only brought it up in the movie because it was a big plot line what was that out about and there was an episode otherwise the evil version of the Green ranger whatever happened to the evil version of him
The only episode that I don't like that came before Neo-Saban Era was Food Fight, because of Pudgy Pig. How does he store food if he just a Walking head?
Season 2 is the worst once you rewatch it Trini, Zack and Jason were cut off most it before they got replaced with ahisa,Adam and rock which was obvious
Rocky Just Wants to Have Fun Lights, Camera, Action Where There's Smoke, There's Fire Storybook Rangers, Parts 1&2 I'm Dreaming of a White Ranger Season 2 easily has some of the best episodes followed by some of the absolute worst episodes followed by some even more great episodes. I had the VHS with Rocky Just Wants to Have Fun, Lights, Camera, Action and Where there's Smoke episodes and wore the fuck out of that VHS but one day I turned it on and just didnt like any of the episodes anymore. They're just bad. Maybe its because of the change in the cast or just because its the first couple of episodes and they haven't gotten the acting down very well yet but they are bad. A Friend in Need was great, definitely not in the top 5 worst. There are a lot worse episodes. But I also really enjoyed Masked Rider so 🤷

Back in Mighty Morphin, Zedd was so weak the SPD c squad could take him. Actually, their E squad could take him out

I got the idea from a 6th ranger video. Create a god squad of rangers. Let’s take a team, any 6 ranger team. And pick someone to be that color. Their original color doesn’t matter. You have 6 selections, when you pick someone, the rest of their team becomes ineligible. So if you pick Tommy, you can’t use any MMPR, Zeo, or DT team members other than him. Have fun!

The second half of season 2 and season 3 of MMPR are the worst of the Zordon Era of Power Rangers imo...
It sure was a genius move for the power rangers TH-cam channel to get the full seasons weekly.
I got them all except for samurai last year months before they went TH-cam. (Samurai is hard to find and really expensive) they place it on the TH-cam channel all the time so I'm good.
honestly i love em all. sure not every episode can be amazing but i honestly dont think there are that many bad episodes

There was an old episode of power Rangers about slime like 2 minutes in the episode they talk about slime they forgot about it for the rest of the show and mighty Morphin it only brought it up in the movie because it was a big plot line what was that out about and there was an episode otherwise the evil version of the Green ranger whatever happened to the evil version of him
I did saw some bad episodes of Power rangers time force some of the monsters and villains were kinda goofy and not scary%.

The only episode that I don't like that came before Neo-Saban Era was Food Fight, because of Pudgy Pig. How does he store food if he just a Walking head?

Season 2 is the worst once you rewatch it Trini, Zack and Jason were cut off most it before they got replaced with ahisa,Adam and rock which was obvious

Season 2 easily has some of the best episodes followed by some of the absolute worst episodes followed by some even more great episodes. I had the VHS with Rocky Just Wants to Have Fun, Lights, Camera, Action and Where there's Smoke episodes and wore the fuck out of that VHS but one day I turned it on and just didnt like any of the episodes anymore. They're just bad. Maybe its because of the change in the cast or just because its the first couple of episodes and they haven't gotten the acting down very well yet but they are bad.
A Friend in Need was great, definitely not in the top 5 worst. There are a lot worse episodes. But I also really enjoyed Masked Rider so 🤷
