Despite the cold that thing is knocking out some super fast, great looking, premium grade firewood 👍 Still mild, wet & windy here in the UK.. stay warm Joe 🥶
Man, you run that processor very effectively. I understand you're looking to make that particular size wood for your clients. It works great. I think you have a great set up and strategy. Good luck in your endeavors.
Them lines going to that live deck are like molasses, this time of year it's best to leave the deck empty and cycle all that cold oil back to the tank with no load on it, then load the deck and run it all until emty again. I've seen hydraulic pumps explode into pieces from being forced in cold weather.
When it snows on the west coast that’s when it really gets cold here in SW Saskatchewan. Or maybe SK is so cold you get snow 🤣☃️🤣 When you get rain Daniel, it’s chinooks here. Warm SW winds that’s a nice break in winter. 😁
Hi Joe - it’s Big Rodders in Ireland. It only seems like yesterday when you were running around the yard exposing your knobbly knees to all and sundry😂😄!
Nice Looking Maple perfect Split Firewood Joe. Hanging in There Buddy. Plenty Cold out our way Also. We have Snow on the Ground, but should be gone next Week with highs in the 40's. Getting out the Hospital next Week. Stay Safe, Warm my Friend. Ron from the Woodyard in Upstate NY l.
Yes sir Mr. Joe been watching the weather and the lake effect snow coming off Lake Erie. It sure looks like winter has finally arrived for you. But I'm also certain you know well how to deal with it. And like you said (reading between the lines)cold weather means increased firewood sales, increased deliveries and $$$ in the bank. The 405 makes short work of that maple doesn't it? Good stuff. Go get warm buddy.
Another good video in the winter i would put a little number one diesel fuel in my hydraulic tank on my dump trucks we be moving snow at 20/30 below zero and no problems at all wear your boots tennis shoes but if make comfortable who cares down at tree company just had to dress for splitting wood days it was to cold do the next day thanks for posting waiting for next video
You need to tell Jessie the log hauler to bring you straighter logs.😊 Is that Jessie the same log hauler that delivers logs to the Morgan's place in western Pa.? Just curious.😊
Joe. another great video. I think you got a nice processor. When it’s cold you probably need to keep your live deck & conveyors rolling continuously until the cold fluid makes a few complete rotations into the reservoir & back otherwise the oil will just lay there. I’m sure it heats up quickly. I ran heavy equipment in the woods in Northern Maine and cold temps weren’t a friend to the hydraulic oil. Stuff breaks more often when it’s cold. Thank you for sharing your videos. Dave from Maine. Have a great day 👍.
Joe, Alan in Sunapee, N.H. I'm surprised you didn't have a winter hat or earmuffs to keep those ears warm. Love your videos and I give you a thumbs up all the time when they're done.
Loved how the live deck picked up that “skinny”log ! And that wonderful clean wood in the trailer, yum. Elaine from Canada here, it has warmed up recently, now we have the same temperature as you..time to ditch the coat, heh heh. Cheers 🥶
Slowly whittling away at my own pile of soft maple. Mine are all "Axis-sized", tho. Yuge trunks, stump cuts, and crotchy stuff. Makes great firewood, but there's no "back saver"button, lol. The uglier stuff simply gets sawn into turtles, chunks, and cookies. No point trying to get perty sticks out of it- and beating myself half to death in the process. Hunks n chunks burn just as well! I'm the end user, and i don:t care if its perfect. Just dry enough to burn, and small enough to fit! Always amazes me how ridiculously fast Silver Maple will season, even from it was a live tree yesterday green. Truly a firewood guy's best friend!
Thanks for the video Joe. Your cold weather has me wondering if your camera operator gets hazardous duty pay like a bouquet of flowers and steak dinner. Yall have a 👍 day
Looks like that machine is very user friendly when you can reach in there and manipulate the cut chunk or totally remove it. The pieces you removed and threw into the cage what's that wood going to be used for?
Run your engine exhaust to the hyd tank to heat it up have a temp guage and once the fluid is at optimum temperature swing the exhaust away should help warm the hydraulics. As far as the live deck I don't like japas design they should have better lift arms and a stop that comes up in front of the log behind the log being loaded on the feeder
Well two things. 1. Just wait till it hits -10 and see how it does in year 2. 2. I can see your nose hairs with that camera being so close lol. 3. Nice work Joe 😎
Hopefully Japa is watching your videos and starts installing an engine with more power, that is so hard on that engine bogging it down like that. I’m kind of guessing you won’t get as many hours out of it as you should. Take care
It's an adjustment. I can dial back the bar pressure but didn't do it in this vid. I figured the machine would warm up and the cutting would improve. This is the first diesel powered 405 ever. Since mine they went to a bigger engine
Any news on that LogOx spiltter prototype that you were standing by at the end of the video? It seems nothing much has been happening with it since the Int'l Firewood Expo back in May.
Great video Joe. I know you said along time ago the old log deck isn’t yours. I see in the video it’s there still. Do you keep it for back up ????? Brrrr it’s cold out
Not a fan of the box wedge at all. Seems like wasted motion back and forth, not to mention small pieces being split off. You"ll have to convince me otherwise
I don't think the perfect split has anything else to prove. It is awesome. Shoving a big log once thru a multi knife is a waste of motion. Too many resplits.
Got a good idea how to keep warm while you're operating your log splitter do a bit of running on the spot Better still use a wood axe 🪓 that should help to keep you warm Yeah will be that warm you will take you're cap off 😂😂😂😂

I seen the news report on firewood scams. Good going on making the network news again. Rockstar Joe
Man, you run that processor very effectively. I understand you're looking to make that particular size wood for your clients. It works great. I think you have a great set up and strategy. Good luck in your endeavors.
Thanks Jack. Everything we do is geared toward returning the max $ per stick. So far so good
Very nice I keep wishing for that exact set up maybe one day very nice bud!
Them lines going to that live deck are like molasses, this time of year it's best to leave the deck empty and cycle all that cold oil back to the tank with no load on it, then load the deck and run it all until emty again. I've seen hydraulic pumps explode into pieces from being forced in cold weather.
Interesting to hear. These logs spent a few days on it being as busy with deliveries as i've been. I will give that a try next time
Gotta get busy to make room for more logs!
I hear you Zeke. I'm going broke buying all this wood lOL
We can see the how cold it is by your breath , that shows the chill factor..
It was feeling pretty cold. I think also since the temps have been so warm this fall that I haven't acclimated to them yet
Liked the way the rollers pulled the log up without you having to muscle it on. Stay Hydrated and Have a Safe Day
I was glad to get it on vid. It looks way cooler in person lol
Heat's in the work Joe
Not running the 405 LOL. I get cold standing there moving a joystick LOL
Heats in the tool so to speak😊@ohiowoodburner
Relatable splitting wood in the cold! Supersplit is getting it done until we can get the yapa 405! Also trumbull county so can relate to the weather
That Japa ain't scared of any stinkin' cold weather!!!!💪💪💪
haha. The operator will give up before it does lol
Its been in the low 30s here in Western Washington state for over a week now. Even my splitter doesn't want to work well till somewhat warm.
When it snows on the west coast that’s when it really gets cold here in SW Saskatchewan. Or maybe SK is so cold you get snow 🤣☃️🤣 When you get rain Daniel, it’s chinooks here. Warm SW winds that’s a nice break in winter. 😁
@colleensfarmadventures4176 : When we do get snow, it's wet and heavy. I have been told it's drier and fluffier in other places.
It is still cold and snowy here Dan. Sure has slowed things down
@@DanielAtkinsFirewood ya our snow is pretty dry in winter. Then the winds blow it into big snowdrifts. A spring snow storm can be wet.
Thanks Joe we don't have Walmart in UK but they did take over ASDA so I maybe lucky.
The unofficial term for this jacket is a Pennsylvania Tuxedo
You should consider lubricating all of those drive chains and shafts. There is a cold weather grease that works wonders on moving parts.
That is on my list of things to do. Wish I would have done it a few weeks ago LOL
Try grease made by muscle products, works great in the cold weather😊
All there products are A1 in my experiences😊
I found some wood splits better in the winter freeze dried i guess don't know have a good one and stay warm
Thanks Kevin
Hi Joe - it’s Big Rodders in Ireland. It only seems like yesterday when you were running around the yard exposing your knobbly knees to all and sundry😂😄!
haha. I agree. I think I still am not acclimated. Come feb this will feel like a heatwave
the TV people said with the wind chill we are all gonna die. Here you are out in it!😱 Soon it will be 90 again!
Thanks ROn. Stay warm up there buddy
That is quite the setup you have. Going to be 54 here in St. Louis today then only 16 in the morning. Quite the swing. Keep warm over there!
That is a big swing. Prob high winds too. Hope you make it thru buddy
Also important question !what gloves do you find the best? Waterproof durable and warm, yet maneuverable.???thoughts?
Like the tuxedo
Thanks chad!
Great video Joe. Stay warm and keep building the firewood supply. Great seeing the Japa making world class firewood. 👍🏻👍🏻
Thanks CM.
Good firewood splitting weather! 🪵🥶🔥
Maybe about 10 degrees warmer this day LOL
🎉🎉🎉good job

Thanks for watching Kevin
What a beast of a machine you have there Joe.
Thanks Tonto It sure is buddy
That is one sweet machine
Good morning Joe. 7 degrees with the wind this morning in my neck of the woods. Burr !! Stay warm brother.
haha Too cold for me Wayne!
That is so.e fi.e looking maple firewood you got there man.Keep up the good work
Thanks Ronnie
You need to tell Jessie the log hauler to bring you straighter logs.😊
Is that Jessie the same log hauler that delivers logs to the Morgan's place in western Pa.?

Morning Joe, I am back in the wood yard and catching up after awhile away 👍
Great to have you back buddy!

I appreciate you sharing your wisdom, Dave.
good video joe it warms me up it is 21 here in n.y great job
It was a cold day for sure. Plus I'm not ready for it since we have had such a warm fall!
Joe, Alan in Sunapee, N.H. I'm surprised you didn't have a winter hat or earmuffs to keep those ears warm. Love your videos and I give you a thumbs up all the time when they're done.
My headphones take care of my ears when I was running the machine but once I take them off...ugh
Good Morning Joe: Were getting some warmer weather out here in SW Montana. Not the norm, that’s for sure.
We are still cold but have missed all that lake effect snow just north of us. 20m north they have 3 feet
Loved how the live deck picked up that “skinny”log ! And that wonderful clean wood in the trailer, yum. Elaine from Canada here, it has warmed up recently, now we have the same temperature as you..time to ditch the coat, heh heh. Cheers 🥶
Thanks Elaine. I was glad it was seen on vid. I love it when that happens lol
I was just over in Diamond for Thanksgiving. I thought about ya the whole time i was there. Lol. Great vid!
haha. Bring your gloves next time!
Now u can go and pickup them little ends you split in your old yard.
Soon as it warms up LOL
It’s that time of year again when you need to have the extra winter clothes at the ready.
Indeed. I have extra in every vehicle
I try to do the same myself.
Nice video. Good. Job. Joe
Thanks Ralph!!
Good morning Joe, I believe the 405 is the perfect set up. But I believe I would ask Japa for a seat.😂👍🇺🇸
haha that is a good idea! Thanks Larry and Robin!
Cold weather and hydraulics 😞 Love watching the perfect split run 👍
Thanks Lyle. It is always a fun time for sure buddy
Slowly whittling away at my own pile of soft maple. Mine are all "Axis-sized", tho. Yuge trunks, stump cuts, and crotchy stuff. Makes great firewood, but there's no "back saver"button, lol.

Silver maple is my favorite species no doubt
Thanks for the video Joe. Your cold weather has me wondering if your camera operator gets hazardous duty pay like a bouquet of flowers and steak dinner. Yall have a 👍 day
haha. I earn my keep that is for sure Mike! I would be lost without her
Looks like that machine is very user friendly when you can reach in there and manipulate the cut chunk or totally remove it.
The pieces you removed and threw into the cage what's that wood going to be used for?
Those are our off-cuts. They get trucked back to my house as we heat with wood with an outdoor wood boiler.
I feel your video Grapher is missing the love. SO.....Here's to You, Mrs. Ohio Woodburner your doing great.👍👍👍👍🤠
That is very nice of you Lance. Thanks buddy!
Just watched you with the perfect split Joe what make of jacket is yours I like it?
Believe it or not this one is from Walmart. It is a George brand. I like it bc it has snaps instead of buttons.
Well two things.
1. Just wait till it hits -10 and see how it does in year 2.
2. I can see your nose hairs with that camera being so close lol.
3. Nice work Joe 😎
You won't have to worry about that Frank. If it's -10 I wont be making firewood
@ Awe come on now lol
Hopefully Japa is watching your videos and starts installing an engine with more power, that is so hard on that engine bogging it down like that. I’m kind of guessing you won’t get as many hours out of it as you should. Take care
It's an adjustment. I can dial back the bar pressure but didn't do it in this vid. I figured the machine would warm up and the cutting would improve. This is the first diesel powered 405 ever. Since mine they went to a bigger engine
@ that’s good that they put a larger one on, I’ve been noticing it ever since you got it but when it’s cold it’s really bad.
Going to need a hydraulic oil heater!
haha I'm more worried about the operator right now!!!!! Thanks Bruno
Cold 😂
The condition is real
Any news on that LogOx spiltter prototype that you were standing by at the end of the video? It seems nothing much has been happening with it since the Int'l Firewood Expo back in May.
They are for sale now. I should have a vid on the final product soon
Great video Joe. I know you said along time ago the old log deck isn’t yours. I see in the video it’s there still. Do you keep it for back up ????? Brrrr it’s cold out
We have been working out an idea for showing another machine but it has been in a holding pattern. Hope to have something cool in the spring
Thanks for responding back. Sounds great.
Hello Joe from Maryland, will that 405 every be sold?
Hi Kevin. I don't plan on it but if something changes I would consider it.
Joe I would like to talk to you some if we could.
Joe….Your backyard must be frozen-over now!….no more mud. Be safe with the upcoming snows. 👍
It is frozen pretty good. Too cold for me Dave LOL
Good morning I’m sitting here in my warm house in my recliner with a cup of coffee and I’m tired watching you work have a good day
haha I don't blame you Mr Hill!
It’s no fun working in the cold
I concur Larry! LOL
is this a good machine for 500 ricks a seasion??
Yep. World class.... awesome. I cant imagine there being a better machine for value added firewood
You are just far enough south to miss the lake effect.
We have largely been missed but there is supposed to be a big storm coming tonight. 10" in the forecast
You need buy a propane burn lamp outside
That may have to happen Gus
@ohiowoodburner yes
Good to see the production.
Thanks Durgan. I have been super busy with deliveries so it is always fun to make firewood!
Was that machine you bought? The cheapest showing on the market are just the most unfunctional
Not sure what you mean. This machine has proven its worth. It seems cold weather makes the #46 thicker until it warms up.
The pieces are too small for my liking.
Cold weather all over the country. Even snow in place. You may got some if you live near Erie lake area.
We have been spared so far. We are 30 miles inland from Erie
Maybe burn some wood outdoors to keep warm
That could happen. I left my firepit here for that reason
You are doing this just so you don't need to make firewood to heat your home
Yep...that got old fast JB
Not a fan of the box wedge at all. Seems like wasted motion back and forth, not to mention small pieces being split off. You"ll have to convince me otherwise
I don't think the perfect split has anything else to prove. It is awesome. Shoving a big log once thru a multi knife is a waste of motion. Too many resplits.
Cover your ears up before they fall off Joe.
haha that's what my ear speakers are for
Can't some sort of pre heat and continously running heater be added to these systems for cold weather use.
Probably but I don't have electricity here.
@ohiowoodburner you could make a system that runs directly from your system and fits around your existing hydraulic tank
Got a good idea how to keep warm while you're operating your log splitter do a bit of running on the spot
Better still use a wood axe 🪓 that should help to keep you warm
Yeah will be that warm you will take you're cap off 😂😂😂😂
I enjoy splitting with an ax for about 5 minutes lol
Great video! Thanks for sharing. Great set up! @millgapfarms
