different but similar, bare in mind that i am totally uneducated i regards to microscopy but i hope to learn bit by bit.. videos like this are really very useful mainly because they are rare on youtube, it is very detailed.
I just looked on eBay. They are going for so cheap now! This one is listed for $100 Buy It Now, with objectives! www.ebay.com/itm/NIKON-ALPHAPHOT-YS-MICROSCOPE-OBJECTIVES-/153784595760 Edit: Doh! Never mind. That one is missing a condenser! I used to shoot Nikon, and was my preferred brand for photography. I still use it as a 2nd camera for video. But my primary is a Sony a7S II for video.
@@jasonpeachrick2037 Yes, mine is in good condition. I can't remember, but it feels like I paid two-hundred something for it. But they are averaging around $77 - $150 from what I've seen on eBay just now; dependent on condition I'm sure. I haven't read thoroughly; just skimmed.
Thanks, Hussain. I hope you get to enjoy your machine. It's always exciting getting new purchases. Could you give me the full name of your SE model. I can't seem to find it. I would like to see what it looks like and its functions and features, too. Cheers!
Yes, definitely, when I have some money "to spare". :P Ebay is where I got this scope. Thanks for the ideas on where to go to look for these attachments.
:) I'm not a computer major, but do like classic cars. Would have loved a '56 Bel Air, but had a '67 Mustang till I sold it because of a move. Hope you're liking the microscope. Haven't used mine in ages.
Thanks. The thing I kept in mind was that you were thinking about buying a microscope, so thought to myself, what would I want to see, that is why it has a lot of closeups and functionalities illustrated. I actually rushed this out. I want to be even more detailed, but I got impatient too. :p
i have just made a decision to buy a Nikon microscope, going for a Optiphot with for what i could see phase contrast... do you think it is any good? Already paid for it anyway, just waiting delivery.. takes up to 10 days...
That's going to be a hard question to answer, "do you think it is any good?". :) It depends on if you enjoy it, and it's all subjective. But I like that you said it has phase contrast. I wish I had that.
Save some more money and start haunting E-bay. Trinocular heads come up all the time. Beware though, any used one will probably full of dust and the prisms will be filthy, however, the path through the head to the top trinocular port is a straight through shot for the camera, no prism. You might contact some microscope repair shops for one that has been cleaned already. And, the head will also need whats called a photo lens that goes in the tube. Another expense.

I gotta get one of these. I’m a huge Nikon guy (film SLRs and lenses) and love using microscopes so hopefully I can get one of these!

As a computer major and a classic car restoration I own the same microscope given to me by my cousin as a present. 😂

I set my condenser to the smallest aperture opening to get the depth of field. I think DIC looks a bit different than that though.

wow, ok... so you can actually obtain these 3d like(depth) images without a DIC kit?
Do you by any chance know the diameter or part number for the eyepiece?
:) Thanks. I wish I had a trinocular head for a better camera mount.
Your off to a great start. :o)
can you view single cell moving organisms with this microscope? glad if you answer. regards
Yes, you can. :)

:) Not too serious. There are some "crazy" ones out there. But just like anything, I guess. :)
