      History would have to have been completely abolished from education and culture for someone in 200 years to not know what a book is, wouldn't you say? If we know about looms and astrolabes and mummies then surely they will know about books.

    • @rubibeats
      @rubibeats 5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Quinton Beck You’re correct. Just how we know about scrolls and other forms of manuscript today they will probably know what books are. 👌🏾 I highly doubt they’ll use them though. Text information by that time might surely be history we already consume a large amount of information in video form ie this video we’re commenting on rn. I can easily see a future where although we know what books are, they’ll be obsolete.

      It's just self/species loathing. Many are concerned about carbon emissions but we literally have technology to pull the carbon from the atmosphere...right now. This technology exists. We are literally moving very quickly toward being a Kardashev I civilization. 116 years ago we as a species invented the airplane. We now have a probe that has/is leaving our solar system and have probes that have visited every planet in our solar system. We can look back through history to the very beginning of time itself. Trying to project what will happen in 200 years and being pessimistic about our future is pretty silly.
      IMO we should be pushing toward power positive fusion power and nano machines. Once we have an almost limitless power supply and nano machines we can clean up any mess I can think of (other than completely obliterating ourselves from war). I have never understood pessimism when looking to the future. Human imagination is the real gift IMO. I'll get off my soapbox now.

      @@steve5008 How can it not be in time if we can literally remove Carbon from the atmosphere? Once we can add and remove C from the atmosphere (which we can right now) we can control the global temperature of the planet. Also, three countries are leading alternative fuel charge: US, China and India. The United States is one of the cleanest and most energy efficient countries in the world. The developing nations with little to no over site/regulation are the pollution perpetrators now. I believe in humans as a species.

We just passed 415 parts per million and it's going up faster not slower we need clean renewable energy all over the world and yes we do need carbon capture but we really aren't capable of scaling it up to the levels necessary to bring us back down to 300 parts per million. Keep in mind 1000 parts per million was the last Permian Extinction which killed off 97% of all life on the planet where nothing larger than a rat survived on land. Most of the carbon emissions have occurred just since 1992 at this rate we are looking at the next Permian Extinction that's why it's being referred to as the sixth mass extinction event.

    • @CattleCluj
      @CattleCluj 5 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      You know, I believe that's kind of where we're headed. The way I see things, our civilization is falling just like the Western Roman Empire did, and after that one fell, it became a theocratic torture regime. And I'm afraid we're headed to some sort of authoritarian regime similar to that.
      We can actually get a glimpse of that in our current days China, and we can speculate that our technocratic overlords are quite fond of that idea. Especially knowing that it was Google that worked on a censored version of their search engine for China, called Dragonfly or something. And the other 'platforms', as Joe calls them, are nothing more than publishers, seeing that they're really fond of the idea of censorship, even though history is proof of that when discussion stops, fists start flying.
      Speaking of which, maybe we wont end up in a technocratic authoritarian regime after all. Seeing the building tensions around Iran right now, maybe we'll all die in the third world war - the last world war - as a result of a nuclear holocaust, while ironically, learning the answer for the Fermi paradox. So who knows?
      P.S: Whatever happens I'm going to make a prediction, a prophecy if you will: If we go, the reason for us going, will be DOGMA. This is my prediction, take it or leave it.

      @@FreddieHg37
      I wouldn't think that we're already there. It took quite some time for the Roman Empire to fall, around a few hundreds of years. But we aren't quite there yet. We have yet to see the US turn into some sort of an authoritarian regime and the president becoming some kind of an emperor, like it happened in the Roman Empire with Augustus. From there, it lasted quite a few centuries until it completely fell.
      I think that when the 'dark ages' will come again, it will be as a result of some kind of economical and technological collapse. The economy will fall, thus the leaders will import even more people who work more cheaply, but it will keep falling despite that, it will affect industries, and as a result, the technology we have today, would be impossible to maintain, let alone advance it. Schools/Universities will also start to close, thus leading the way for increased illiteracy, the healthcare system will also collapse, since it relies heavily on technology, which relies, at the very least, on literacy. Because of this, plagues will start to become more frequent, plagues like the ones that start to creep up in LA. It's not that bad yet, we still have some time, but sure as hell, we're on the road towards the dark ages.
      Another interesting thing that happened during the collapse of the Roman Empire was that, as the economy was getting worse and worse and the currency was being debased, people started to lose faith in the system, in their leaders, in their Gods, and their religions. As a result, a wide spread moral panic ensued, and in this moral panic, people were looking for other Gods to give them meaning and help. During this time, Christianity was born, around a social justice/victimhood narrative. This is very similar to what we see today, a bunch of atheist start to pup up (people who lost their faith), become louder and louder, and instead of staying atheists, they then come up with this weird religion of intersectionality, which they have the audacity to try and impose it onto the rest of us. One difference is though, that intersectionality today has political power, whereas Christianity back then was frowned upon and rejected at first, and it took some time until it was embraced politically and then pushed onto people by political force.
      So we're now in a similar period where Rome was between 27 BC and 476 AD.

    The year 2219 is a crazy time to think about. I find it insane that i might be able to live to the year 2100, and that’s still 100 years before the date this video is addressed to. If I live the year 2100, I’d be 98 years old. But who knows, in 2100 death by old age or cancer may just be a thing of the past(like he said). If I do make it to the year 2100 and TH-cam still exists, I’m going to try and come back and comment on this video and on this specific comment. And if somehow we have cheated the natural cycle to the point where I can come back and comment on the year 2220, then I will. But if i can’t, who ever is reading this, leave a comment. Tell this old ghost of a man how your life is and what it’s like. What’s changed, what’s the social structure like, and whatever else you think someone from my time may find interesting. But most importantly, the one thing I want to know, who were your relatives that lived during my time. Maybe your the great great great great so on and so forth grandchild of Elon Musk or one of the other famous people of my time. Maybe your the grandchild of one of my friends, or maybe even one of my own. Either way, I hope life for you is better then it is today and maybe this will inspire you to write a message for the generations after you. Have a good life.
