Heirloom kale loves growing in containers. We've eaten fm it quite a few times and it's still putting on leaves.
Nothing like walking to your yard garden and bringing in fresh vegetables.

The seeds have germinated but not sure when to transfer to final container and can it go directly from seedling pot cell to 2 gallon container?

Yes, but you are best off waiting for a 2nd set of leaves before transplanting.
