  • In this video I design, print, and install an extruder upgrade that allows the A5, A31, CR-7, and CR-10 3D printers to print flexible TPU a lot more reliably.
    Here is a link to the STL file on Thingivers: www.thingiverse.com/thing:214...

    Your photography was excellent and very helpful. Your explanation was really easy to understand! Might be the best of hundreds of 3d printing videos I've watched!

    If I never printed with TPU this is one of the most informative extruder videos I've watched. Thanks.

    Hi. Thank you for this lovely idea, I just had to modify that tiny piece of tube and made something more like crayon without colour tip shape cause my filament was still running on sides trough the cuts.. now it's running perfect. Regards

    I just drilled out the stock extruder and fit the ptfe tube in there. works great for tpu

    Thanks for sharing. I bought a CR-7 2 or 3 yrs ago and never really used it much because the whole printing process seems complicated and frustrating. Ive decided to take another crack at it and was curious if it would print TPU because all my PLA (I think that's the filament I have) prints were too thin and brittle for any practical application. That's when I came across this video. I know it's an old video but still relevant for my needs.

    Great video. I’m wondering, since I see a few cr printers, I also have a cr-10. I have a problem with the first print. It’s bubbly and bulgy, but after that it prints really good. Any tip on how to fix the issue. I use cura 2.7.0

    I have the same printer and I have to print TPU for work a lot, the zip ties on the feed tube and wires cause added friction so I would remove them. Also increasing the temp helps. I print Sainsmart TPU with the stock extruder set up no problemo

    Do you know where they sell the hot end as a stand alone item? I have one and want to build another printer and I looooove the hot end cause I've never had any problems with it...

    What I would like to see is how you figured out the measurements for the part I'd like to see a step by step on how to do that.
    Thanks

    It would help alot of people watching your video if you would mention the print settings. It's a required part next to installing the extruder to print with TPU. I found a profile for S3D but it uses extrusion multiply 1.60 and retraction of 7mm wich is more than the 6.5 I use for pla. I read TPU should have no retraction so in big doubts right now.

    This looks like it would fit my Geeetech A20. Does it work with other filament like carbon fiber or just TPU/soft filament?

    Thank you for that video, I'm waiting for my CR-10 to arrive and I'll do your trick for TPU :) Question: what PTFE tube should be used? in and out diameters? Is it easy to find?

    • @6rilllir6
      @6rilllir6 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      never mind, you gave those info in the thingivers page, thanks again! But before ordering, would you mind telling me the outside diameter of the tube needed? I've found : in:2mm out:4mm is that the one?

      The printer should come with an extra tube and you can clip off a length from that.

    Ideal speed in mm/s? Any extra settings like retraction @ 10mm & 100mm/s?

    My PTFE tube is not tight. It wobbles around in there. I bought a new blue capricorn tube for a 1.75 filament. I`m not using the stock white one. That could be the problem, maybe the outer diameter of the capricorn is smaller than the default white one that comes with the ender 3

    I am printing this right now but thinking why cant the hole on the near side just be drilled out to the right side for the tube?

    Why don't you ever say the size of the tube you used

    • @wwindsunrain
      @wwindsunrain 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Because the tubing is sold all over without listing the diameters. Inner diameter is about 2mm, outer diameter 4mm. Happy?
