I found this overgrown lawn and knocked on the door but almost immediately knew it was vacant from the smell that was coming from the inside. So, I spoke with the next door neighbor and he told the me homeowner passed away on the front porch a few years ago. He wasn’t sure the cause but since then, nobody takes care of the home. There were a lot of back taxes on it and the city only sends someone out to cut it 1 time a year so I thought I would get it back into shape for the neighborhood.

I mentioned several times for you to get the Caladryl Clear and put it on before you do yardwork. It dries clear and will protect your skin until you can rinse off.
I really feel for you Spencer. I am one of the few that has absolutely no problems with poison ivy or poison oak. It took me forever to learn to identify either as I can wallow around in it, which I did as child and nothing happens. But my wife and son are more like you.
You got very lucky this time with the poison-ivy. And always and I mean always be extremely careful around those 3 leaf weeds.
Yo SB - could you make a specific video on how you deal with poison ivy infestations? It would practically be a public service announcement. 🙂
Just watching you is making me itchy 😂 Have you tried Tecnu poison oak and ivy armor? It does protect your skin, although it won't keep the oils from getting on your equipment
Sacrificing your own comfort and well-being for a bunch of strangers and the memory of a man you never met. The world's a better place with people like you in it, Spencer.
He is awesome!!
He’s a saint! He’s the son everybody wishes they had…
Well said jedi2016😊
Amen to that!!
No. He also does it for the money TH-cam pays him. It's not for free......
The little pink flowering shrub/rose in front got me. 😢 someone really loved that little forlorn house once. Thank you for going above and beyond to honor it and its former owner.
looked like it might have been peonies
@@Neilsowards Yeah, I have some and pretty sure it's a peony.
@@Neilsowards The best flower ever, in my opinion!! That was definitely a peony bush.
Minus the thorns, it's a good bush to own (though my mother's roses were invaded by some pink flower). Over a decade thriving, even with the invasion.
As several others have mention, I'm pretty sure those were peonies. The most common trait of that plant / flower is that the flowers are huge and often get so heavy that they bend over and touch the ground. I've got one in my back yard.
Some children were brought up correctly. You are one of them. Your mom must be proud of you.
Respect and love, sir.
I appreciate that!
And your Dad is proud too!

The lady that came over and said, "Thank you, Jesus!" made me smile!

"Especially for the man that used to live here." For some reason that struck me as an especially touching sentiment when you consider he clearly took pride in his lawn when he was around. Sweet of you for thinking of him in that moment.
Exactly what I was thinking 🥹
😢
He's looking down with a smile on his face sb awesome transformation again
Yeah at least the man passed where he lived in his loved yard. His spirit still on the porch?
You make it look like easy work, but the truth is it is hardwork.
I commend you.
I feel a kindred spirit to the man who passed because he showcased the pink peonies in his front yard. I had them in my yard in Tulsa OK. When I moved a 1000 miles west, they were my first plantings in my front yard. Thanks for caring for this lawn in his memory and for bringing “hallelujahs” to the neighborhood.
that's the thing about possessions in this world. we are really just borrowing them while we are here.
That's absolutely true!
yes....I began helping to take care of the possessions left behind by my family members who passed on when I was still in my 30s (30 years ago). I learned well, and by experience, that all our treasures, photos, possessions---are just along for a certain span of time in our lives. Now in my mid-60s, I'm being proactive about MOVING THINGS ON before I reach my end stages of life. Less for my sons (or whoever) to deal with, down the road.
@@stardust949 I absolutely agree.

Great job! Glad you left the flowers in the corner... neat video!
Thank you!
Me too! I was hoping he would leave the flowers!
When you see an overgrown lawn, you take matters into your own hands. You sir, are a veggie-lante.
That's funny as hell, and I'm not even a dad!

Mrs SB seems very supportive. She deserves a big pat on the back. 👏👏
I get poison ivy really bad too. I use Technu Extreme. My son uses bleach. Yikes.

I can see the old man smiling down on his little home from heaven with love and appreciation for the care and kindness you put into cleaning up his yard. Blessings to you Spencer, beautiful job!
Spencer, this touched my heart. What an amazing transformation this was. I know the gentleman was smiling from heaven, watching you tidy up his beloved yard
I know I mentioned this before but, I'm going to mention it again! I've seen you get into poison ivy when you least expected it! Will you consider keeping a bottle of Dawn, a gallon of water, a couple of washcloths, a stack of disposable masks, and goggles that fit over your glasses in your truck? Think of it as a Personalized First Aid Kit! It could be really helpful for heading off a rash on your face, neck, hands, and arms until you can get home!
Thank you. You put your health at risk to do this awesome job in memory of this man. You're a really nice young man, Spencer! You are an inspiration for people everywhere to do something selfless for others. Excellent job! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐🇨🇱🇨🇱
Can't it also be inhaled and cause issues with the throat and lungs?
@@triciac1019yes, I agree. Some non drowsy Benadryl would be a good idea to include too.
A very old but awesome cure for poison ivy is jewel weed. You crack open the stems and the syrup that comes out you put on poison ivy rash. Clears it up super quick!! It’s a weed with an orange flower found in wetter fields
You are amazing, God Bless You, richly! ❤
try to wash on site and at home, use plastic bags and gloves to grab it... I scoop the ivy into a bag with gloved hands for extra protection... thankfully we don't have much on our property but distressing that we have it at all. it gets on equipment too and that can transfer forever if its not cleaned properly too.
Thank you for saving the peony bush. Small touches like that make a big difference in neighborhoods.
The poison ivy is airborne though. Isn't it ??? I hope children don't breathe that into their tiny lungs.
Dude, you have such a big heart. Few ever remember the elderly deceased but you honor their lives by straightening up after they’re gone. May God bless you, young man!
I am quite ashamed that these cities don’t pay his company for his services or even volunteer to send him help on some of these. It makes so much difference and I am sure the neighbors totally enjoy it for the time it works, at least once. Thanks Spencer for caring. You have a servants heart
Agreed 💯
I've often wondered if any of these properties get follow up maintenance after he's done. In most cases, once he's done the "heavy lifting" of getting them cleaned up, keeping it that way wouldn't be hard. Just wonder how many do actually keep them up afterwards.
Some of these properties also look like they've been neglected far longer than indicated in the back story.
@Suzypurvis3662 do you really think our government is going to volunteer their time or employees to help out ordinary citizens. If it doesn't come with money attached they don't care
He certainly does...
Not only don’t they help, many charge the mowers for the disposal of the “green waste”!
That little neglected house looked SO much better. Everything was so sad. Such a sad story, and no one to come and take care of his house. Until you came along! Thank you so much for what you do, and I hope you didn't get a big rash!
I'm imagining the owner watching over you and smiling as you clear his yard. How nice of you to honor his memory by doing this.
You made the lawn beautiful... for the man upstairs.... in Heaven.... Bless you....
I was watching with my friends at work and we all agreed that you should wear disposable Tyvek suits for much better protection from the poison ivy.
A mask is also advised.
Maybe they'll sponsor you!!
Tec-Nu is the best product for removing poison ivy!
I worked in the Tyvek . The suits are great for working in until it gets really hot. Then it’s a sauna suit.
@@southernman5839 A little sweat for a few hours is fine. Wear a water backpack.
I appreciate the hard work and care you put into this job. The little bush with the pink flowers was a definite highlight. Thank you for saving it and taking such good care of it and you.
Thank you for not mowing over the flowers.
It looks so much better now. That neighbor must be super excited. 😂
I agree! I was worried about them. Glad they were in bloom now. Can't see that well, but looked like peonies. I've had mine over 20 years and they come back gorgeously every year. Not bloomed yet this year, but I'm in northern Ontario, so it's still early here.
@lynnquinn7244 noticed he got some of the lilies but they grow back quickly. And it's hard to see those under tall grass.
I’m amazed to see flowers, they’re usually just overgrown yards
You know the neighbors are just going to be over the moon about their view now. Especially with blooming flowers over the carefully trimmed and sculpted yard. Bound to lift their spirits.
You are awesome!
Thank you so much for the support!
You get the lawn care Medal of Honor for this one!
Thank you so much for not mowing that beautiful peony! Sparing certain plants really means so much to the gardeners who enjoy your videos. The first video of yours that had me hit the subscribe button was one where you identified a particular tree in a backyard and mentioned its benefits. That’s when I knew I was in the right place! Thanks for your dedication!
Even though you're allergic to poison IVY, it's great that you went out of your way to do this LAWN!😮
That took a HUGE pair and an even huger heart. So impressive. ❤
That's great that MrsSB helps you out, especially with poison ivy all about this yard. Kudos
I’m sure the neighbours appreciate not looking at an unkempt property. You did an excellent job.
It's so sad seeing properties that were once so well cared for be left to deteriorate for whatever reasons! Especially when surviving family members can't come to a decision on how to go forward!! Lovely to see the peonies blooming in the yard! You made the yard look so nice Spencer!!!
I’ve out green had the same thought about these lost properties left to to it for want of property tax. And family members that can’t agree on what to do and how to get it done, who gets the money, etc. if it were sold for the property taxes plus a little more, they’d at least get something. But as it is they get nothing. Sell for the property taxes and the price of the last the houses usually are worth nothing in the condition they are currently in because the house are tear downs. With the lot size they could build something beautiful of value with still having a nice yard.
When this happens it's usually because the family can't afford to hire attorneys to gain the authority over the property to even move forward. And if we homeowners can't afford attorneys to prepare for what happens to our house in the event of our own deaths, it will happen to us too.
Love the peonies
Thank you for thinking about the person that passed, that was nice of you!
Mrs. SB is also a legend, confirmed.
Haha she is!
God bless her! And God bless you! Taking on a project with poison ivy is a selfless sacrifice.
I love that there is a rose bush blooming on the property! Thanks for leaving it. 😀
Poison ivy, poison oak, sumac oils in the lungs are not friendly. I've seen lawncare guys wearing masks lately ... One NEVER EVER knows what they are mowing over... Another fine job Spencer 🇺🇸👍🏼🇺🇸
yeah, i was thinking about the fact he would probably breathe it in... :(
I seriously wish all of you guys on TH-cam would wear masks especially when you're blowing Dusty ick out of the gutters. You never know what people empty out there or went bacteria could be growing.
So glad that your wife helps you minimize the consequences of poison ivy exposure. It sounds like it makes an arduous job even harder! But I so admire the effort that you put into these yards.
I like the idea of the Muck Boots for my sons birthday next month. He is a garbage collector. The house looks great. You probably eliminated a rodent problem for the neighbors.
God bless you.
Spencer you do so much work! From edging, to trimming, shovelling, scraping, hauling fallen branches, garbage removal, plus more, and that’s not even mowing or blowing. I know that yard still had a lot of work left but you did so much, and at the risk of getting poison ivy. It looks 100% better, and I’m glad you left the flowers standing! You, Spencer, are an angel in disguise ♥️
Glad to hear you didn't get poison ivy reaction too badly. What an amazing job and a blessing to the neighborhood. Loved hearing the neighbor praise the Lord! LOL. 😅
That house looks 💯 times better! And you sacrificing yourself to complete the job just makes it that much nicer!
Back before the poison ivy was finally eradicated from my lawn, I used to get rashy from brushing past it. Benadryl is my friend in that case. You, sir, are solid gold. God bless.
SPRING is the worst time to contact poison ivy---it's so ALIVE and full of GROWTH----Power of its terrifying oils at its maximum.
Getting it twice in one month (embarrassing) motivated me to turn my lawn into a 180° transformation into a garden. (Except the back. I turned that into mulch city).
"Misses SB Mowing!" How special! And God bless you for the good work.
I liked the video before I watched the video then I checked what time it was posted and found out it was 15min ago and its been viewed by over 2 thousand five hundred individuals . That’s how amazing your work and videos have become. Bringing smiles to the faces of many. Thank you
Thanks!
Thank you so much for the support!
A tick check is also good for this type of work. Great transformation and love the ending before and after shots.
Liked that little sideways “tap” to cut down the shrub outback, and how gentle you were going around the flowering bush out front. I’m glad your poison ivy flare up was minor! I know full well the havoc that stuff plays on making one miserable and sick when the oils are not removed properly. And you’re very smart to clean everything, tools, shoes, truck once you get home to avoid a second, or third recontamination. Another great transformation Spencer! The neighbors are definitely happy with the task you took on, to bring both the home and neighborhood back to being beautiful again.
So glad you didn't get the P.I. bad, because the yard looks great! I'm sure the neighbors are happy!
SBMOWING philosophy: if yard needs "doing", then Spencer just "does it"! You are a walking, talking, mowing, trimming, edging, trash collecting, sanitizing equipment in a car wash Miracle Man. Thank you even though I don't live there or nearby. We viewers are in awe. 🙂💪💯✨️❤️🎉
When you smelled the mildew and stuff you should wear a mask. I know it is hard to do with what you are doing but it might help you in the long run. You are another of the great young men doing good things in this country. We need more people like you guys. Say hi to Mrs. SB too.
I know this is a older video but I just had to comment on 2 things. When he said he wanted to do it for the man who died almost made me cry. He did a wonderful job and went out of his way for this job. The other thing I wanted to comment on was that he didn't mow down the flowers at the front of the yard. Spencer has a big heart.
You are so courageous. Knowing how awful Poison Ivy is when you contract it, you still wanted to tackle this mountain of it and help the neighborhood. I am in awe. I kept thinking "You're gonna need an ocean of calamine lotion" as you attacked your worst enemy. I definitely stayed till the end to applaud you. Thank You. 👍🤲
I’m 77 yo and sat here and watched the whole video. May God bless you for all the good you do. You are such a hard worker and just watching this has tired me out.
Spencer THANK YOU for showing how best to clean equipment. I like others have allergies to mold and other living orgznisums and love to work in my garden. I am that 80 PLUS YEAR OLD LADY and get punctured all the time.❤❤❤❤❤

Nice job, Spencer. Someone needs to reach out to Dawn for a sponsor.
Hey Spencer, thank you so much for your extra help with my order. My hubby has 2 tee’s and he mows every Thursday and Friday. He loves his SB Merch.
glad you left the flowers out front, nice touch.
I just know that gentleman was watching you from heaven taking care of his lawn❤🙏
To know you put your own health and safety in danger to pay respect to a person you never met makes me respect you even more. Love Friday's because of you!!!
I just wanted to say SB, you have got to be a man of God to do the things you do for people you don't even know is truly something special! May God continue to use you for His good work towards other people.
The back yard looked like a jungle, the front yard not so much, but the entire clean-up made the place look SO much better. Great job, Spencer. 👏👏🤗💯❤
Mechanics tend to use this stuff called barrier cream on our hands. Used oil and brake dust have carcinogens in them. It washes off with soap and water but keeps things from having direct contact with our skin. Might be a plan to use on your hands and arms as extra layer of protection.

Spencer, You are such a kind soul. The world needs more like you. Best wishes
Glad your exposure was minimal, nice way to honor the man that passed.
You are making your corner of the world a better place. Respect to you.
What a miraculous transformation! It’s actually a cute little house. Hopefully someone can come in and buy it. Sad that a person can lose a house because of owing taxes on it. I think once a house is paid off you shouldn’t owe taxes on it anymore.
Praying that you don’t get too much of a rash from the poison ivy.
Dawn is the best. Shower right after work. Good to clean your tools...how do I know?
Great video of your great work.❤❤❤
Spencer, don't forget...you need to make sure you are wiping down the inside of your truck! The seats and especially the steering wheel. I would suggest you buy some cheap haz-mat overalls. And tape your wrist to keep your sleeves from riding up. Tape your sleeves to your gloves! You do really great work!
Another great job done on this property. Thank you , Spencer, for caring about your community.

It always amazes me when people know the owner or occupant of the house has died and they won’t take five minutes to mow the property to help the neighborhood look better. Thank God there are people like you around.
What a transformation the garden has been through, the old man in heaven will be looking down on you and thanking you. It makes he neighbour hood look better. It stops squatters moving in. Superb job Spencer 🤟🏼✌️👍🥰
Thank you Spencer for protecting yourself while dealing with the poison ivy, I knew you would find a way. I'm sorry you did have those few blisters. If you keep some rubber alcohol in the truck you can put it on to remove the oil if you get it on your face. Just my suggestion ❤😊
I suppose that's the difference between preparation and just a random encounter. A lot more poison ivy than he usually encounters, but he prepared for it and has his procedures in place for cleanup after. None of the preparations when you aren't expecting it and it can be a lot worse when you do encounter it.
I itch just looking ar all that poison ivy! Yikes! May God bless you and yours for your generosity and love for your fellow man,

I’m so happy you saved that peony! ☺️
I recommend you obtain some 3m disposable masks and carry calamine lotion and a fist aide kit as well. Spencer God bless you for all that you do.
The parts with the most oils was probably under the mowing deck on the Blades !!! Use cold water to not open the pours on your epidural !!!

I enjoy watching such channels. But you are truly special. Going out of your way to honor a dead gentleman and to doit despite being allergic to poison ivy which was plenty in his garden, is really commendanle. Great work ! 🎉
Why are these videos always so satisfying 😂
Because---he's doing KINDNESS in this world, and also, bringing some ORDER out of the CHAOS of neglected and abandoned homes.
I don't understand. Got something to do with dopamine.
I see these homes and always thinking about the history and life lived there. Day to day activities and stories we will never know. But we know they happened. Squeezes my heart.
Scary thought about bad odor coming from the house, is someone or something deceased in the home!!! Someone needs to check the inside of this home! Great job on the lawn! Thank you!!!
ALWAYS begin washing off poison ivy oils with cool to cold water. Warm to hot water opens the pores of the skin and makes it worse. Also use a basic lye based soap. The best I have found is Grandma's Old Fashioned soap for poison ivy/oak plant oils. It absolutely works!
Awesome job Spencer!
Thanks!
Love that you have started to show more side tidbits, like the gas, washing and changing strings. Really adds more of a down to earth touch
Usually your videos are a huge break from anxiety, but I am also severely allergic to poison ivy and sometimes I get anxiety for you when there's a lot of it because I know how bad the reaction can be. Stay safe and healthy!
Wow! That was above and beyond, especially being so allergic! ...and thank you! This little home was once cozy, cherished and cared for, and you have honored that history. Wouldn't it be lovely if it could once again be someone's cozy, cherished home?
For now the neighbors can enjoy the transformation!
Fantastic job! And thank you for saving the sweet pink flowers!🌸🌸
Those pretty peonies. They bloom even with neglect.
The guy who mows my lawn is a godsend. He goes above and beyond. I’m handicapped and my husband works full time. I should seriously pay him more but I can’t but I’m so getting him one of the I’m sexy and I mow it shirts. 😁😁
Thank you for braving the dreaded poison ivy. You made a huge difference in this yard, and the neighbors appreciate you very much. Great video, too. Tell your mom and Mrs. SB, Happy Mother’s Day. ❤️
You, sir, are the Gold Standard on yard-cleanup videos.
You're like the Energizer Bunny, you just keep going and going... What a great transformation on this yard Spencer. As usual you came through and made a silk purse from a sow's ear.
Most people wouldn’t touch an infested yard with poison Ivy even if you paid them but not you. You did it for free risking getting sick from it. You are one amazing person!❤
As someone who doesn’t react to poison ivy I shutter to think what you go thru. What a true trooper. ❤

Rubbing alcohol is a great way to dry out the oils immediately on hands, arms, etc until you can get home to clean up. The higher the percentage of alcohol, the better. (90%) Hand sanitizer will do in a pinch. We keep it in our truck at all times for this reason.
Thank you for the update, SB Mowing..!! Deeply touching tribute to a cherished neighbor, as we see this greatly skilled form of true kindness. Amazing skills and workmanship.
