Whatever y'all decide to do with it please call it Eleanor's house 😊 I always enjoy seeing her
It could be very beneficial to your business for future expansion. Think outside the box. Another business to go along with the buffalo.
Eleanor's Country Cottage. 🦬
@@s.patrciabrady an air bnb for bison lovers.
@@mday53 Right! 🦬Maybe not. A secure observation area, maybe. Bait them with cubes or have a bail or two of hay nearby in the winter.
I like that: Eleanor's House!
It's not a thermometer. It's a hydrometer used for proofing alcohol. The green jar and Vaseline jar, some are worth some money. Hope you saved them. One man's junk is another man's treasure.
The refrigerator is probably worth something, too.
Antiques are only worth what you can get somone to pay for it
A turkey brooder in the block wall.
@@Rudymk-ph2xbi had one that somebody redid and it was the best one I've had,lol
@@triciaacevedo3582 Good idea. Too far from the house to manage, but maybe a transition shelter for them. Something simple and open at both ends for escape.
As for the cinder block building, you could rebuild it as a rustic "ranch hand" style cottage with solar power. That would be cool 😎
Cabin or cottage is a good idea!
Gathering place of some kind ...
Yes!! I vote for looking inside the pole barn. LOVE all the history! Warms my heart every time Eleanor gets some extra love. 💕
The pull out tray under the freezer section is a drip tray for when you would defrost the freezer 😊😊😊
You could build atop this cinder block and use as a hay barn or storage of some kind. This could be your second Bison starter area. Love this area!
Eleanor is the star of the show!
Great video Dusty ! I love seeing Eleanor come to you all … she is so precious ! Saving the tin would make great projects to come ! I would also keep those metal wheels for decoration, very nice old pieces!
Your idea of an off grid cabin is a great idea
Keep the fridge!! And yes restore it! I’d turn the building into a turkey breeding room, water, electricity and then build a large high rise metal exterior aviary while the turkeys grow and get released. I think that would be really cool 😊
IDEA: It would be nice to have a safe room shelter that you could use when a storm comes up all of sudden. Emergency first aid, bottled water and snack storage would be nice to. Adding a roof would be nice for sun and hail protection. Of course you will need a picnic table and somewhere to swing a hammock. With the exception of the safe room and supply storage, the building could be open aire.
Would that end of your property be a more remote location for growing your next generation of wild turkeys? So they could become less used to people.
Yes, take us on a tour of all the structures. It might help make sense of the concrete block building.
I’m 75 years old and my family always had glass jars of petroleum jelly. you can’t leave the cinderblock there for your turkeys release or a place of shelter when it snows for the odd animals out there. or a shelter from a tornado if y’all are out there working in the field.. call that guy that that works with Dutch. He does all kinds of stuff with metal. He might clean it out for you. Or Brandon‘s father collects metal and he might clean it up for you.
Wow people would buy those old antique items but destroy them is cool too!
You could put on roof and store hay bale's to use when bison are in that pasture
DUSTY, great video. I would build a barn to store hay or tools in it, that way you do not have to make a trip back to the main barn for a tool.
Good luck on your main plan. 🦃🦃🌄👍👍🐎🐎💞💞❤❤❤.
I can imagine you found some neat old stuff but what do you do with it. Brandon's dad or the guy who works with Dutch might be interested in it. You might want to check with them. But I also know you want it cleaned out soon. Good luck.
I would make a shelter for the bison
That ring is from an old wooden wagon wheel, known as the tire. It goes on the outside of the wheel to protect the wood part of the wheel. The metal rings are heated up and are cooled to shrink them on the wheel.
It's so good to see Brooks taking an interest in everything about the ranch. She really pays attention.❤
Your family is a delight. Respecting each other.
I'd keep the fridge. I had an older unit & I loved it, worked so much better than fridges today. Yeah repurpose the stuff that's in the building. Some of the old glass jars could be antique & worth $, the curad is all original & could be worth something. that ring is probably use to be on an old wagon wheel. Looked like a harrow, the wheels looked like old tractor wheels. 😁
YES we want to see what you do with this old homestead!
Hey Dusty, A 6 inch or so length of 3/4 inch dowel rod or 1/2 inch gas pipe placed in the valley of the corrugated tin to backup your pry bar works great for pulling nails without damaging the tin. That's if you really want to spend the time to save it.
Dusty I loved this video you let Miranda be the camera bride. Learned a lot about you treat each other, Dusty you married one smart woman, I've had my bride 45yrs, she was our better half, your doing great dusty... you are amazing.
Dusty, Listen to your wife. It’s all junk except for the cinder block and foundation. Put it all in a burn pile.
Could rebuild and use to store hay, feed etc. would be less hauling every time you need to feed. A turkey barn would be great Can’t wait to see what you decide to do
Loving your casual attitude about pulling the brambles out of your horse's tail. The horse recognized you and stood patiently.
That's my favorite feeling about your videos: that I'm back on our ranch from my childhood and the chores are getting done.
❤❤❤
Eleanor heard your voice & hot-footed it right to you! I love it!❤
That old frig is cool! and yes, there are companies that will restore it, both the mechanics and outside so you have a working frig to use where you want.
Gosh turkeys are getting huge …
Eleanor is a curious little lady… she is so little ❤
It would be neat just to save that bandage box & bandages as vintage finds .
These old fridge were built to last , my friend had her mother & father’s from 75 years ago and it was great , it finally died a couple of years ago and they had to buy a new one for the basement for their beverages … the new one did not keep their drinks as cold as that old fridge .
Image 75 years … my best friend was told a couple of years ago that the appliances today are made to last 5 to 7 years but cost so much more and are junk
Building could be used for extra storage .. . That old Fridge is a great find and is going to look really great re-stored 👍👍😊😊❤❤
Good job, Dusty. And, good ideas. That old metal is so much better than we have today.
Could have converted the cinder block frame into a bigger turkey pen..
I vote yes!!!
Yes. Breeding facility for turkeys. Then just release adults and keep young turkeys save for a year, let them lay eggs and hatch their own and release adults. Maybe keep 2 females to rise the chicks and a few males for thanksgiving!
@private15 great idea! Just wondering how far that frame is from where they work the ranch
Bandaid box and vaseline jar might be worth something. Cool finds. Old stuff is so much more durable than new stuff. I think you should store stuff there, it's pretty far from the house. Good luck researching it. Hope you think of something cool to do with it. Keep us posted!
The refrigerator door is the old, unsafe type that would allow kids to get trapped inside the refrigerator, and the door seals are probably rotted. It would be an interesting restoration project if the door issue can be solved. The cinderblock structure looks pretty good, the community here has offered many good ideas. If you have a local knifemaker, he might want the springs and some of the better iron, like the mower blade.
Tape that door shut.
Thanks for another excellent video..Vaseline transitioned to plastic jars in the 1960's. If that jar is glass, it could be considered a "collectible.' Also, now that you have uncovered the 'fridge, you should take the door off.
Hello Dusty,Marissa, and Brooke. Thank you so much for sharing.
If the building has a cement floor you could put another roof on it and store some of the Hay in it so that not all of it is sitting on the ground and it will be out of the Elements 😊❤
If used for storing hay, be sure to use skids under the bales to keep the hay from rotting against the concrete. It needs air circulation underneath.
Hi Dusty, Marissa and Brooke. Great video Always something happening on the Ponderosa. Good thing yall had Brooke to supervise the project 😊 She is so adorable. Love watching yall improvements on the Ponderosa. God bless and love yall ❤❤
Many blacksmiths use leaf springs to make knives, and tools. The metal ring could make a rustic frame for a mirror!!!
Wow. This fifties girl loves all this, especially those sheets of metal. It would sure be good if you had a place to store these pieces for repurposing. I have seen these pieces being used as ceiling pieces in old buildings and it is beautiful. Plus, it brings one back to “the old days”. That’s a sweet find, imo. Need an excavator to pull off, I would think. That fridge is cool!
That sheet metal would look good in a rustic kitchen
Dusty that is a hydrometer not a thermometer. It measures the density of a liquid in relation to h20
I am SUPER proud of you all!!! Those turkeys are huge now!!!❤🎉
Use the barn out there as a Turkey hatchery. Or the cinder block shed as a hatchery.
Thair is some antique peace's. That round peace of medal is part of a wagon wheel.
Yes, it is. I’ve seen those rings around wooden wheels. It kept the wheels from breaking down on rough areas.
Thanks, keeping it clean. ✌🏻👊🏼
if you sell the wagon wheel rim and horse shoe are possibly pre WWII iron black smiths love that stuff. they can't buy it today except from scrap. old angle iron is also good. get more for it it you separate it.
Wow, I remember when Vaseline came in jars like that! Memories.
🤫 I also like to remember it, sometimes it was a good tool.
I would make it for hay storage. Then make part of it a storm shelter . I loved seeing Elanor ! She's fabulous ! Enjoyed seeing Brooks and Marissa too ! Thanks for sharing!
It’s lovely to see sweet beautiful Eleanor, there’s so many great ideas what to do with the cinder block building, one thing I would do Dusty is check the blocks for asbestos, just to be on the safe side, there’s so much stuff to remove from there, and I would love to see what’s inside the big barn, and that old fridge l love Marisa’s idea of restoring it and seeing the result, tfs guys 🫶🏻 Julie 🇬🇧
Cinders could be dismantled and cut down for permanent feed bunk?
Maybe into a troff for water for the horses?
A permanent chicken/turkey cage free area for night time?
The flooring could be used for a hay lean to barn?wagon wheels for your front gate entrance!
Alternatively, the cinderblocks could all be carefully dismantled, cleaned up, put on pallets, wrapped in plastic to secure them onto the pallet, and then trucked over to California to help rebuild some of the houses lost in the recent wildfires!
Brooks is too funny and so cute!❤
Keep the building. Ive got an original band aid tin. I threw out the old bandaids and replaced with new ones. I was growing up with women from the depression. They taught me never throw something away. My daughter calls all the time and asked if I have something. Of course I do. Lol
Hey Dusty… I think The Eddy Family Farm channel might be interested in that tin siding for a hay barn they’re putting up! 🤷♀️ just know he’s been looking for stuff just like what you got there. Take care !! 👍🏼
The drawer under the freezer is to catch water from defrosting. old ones were not self defrosting.
Build a two-story cabin with viewing platform like the savannah of Afrika, rent it out for paying guests to enjoy the privilege of seeing the bison up close and personal, with safeguards in place. When not around, think of the views, the peacefulness. Amazing!
Your turkeys are absolutely gorgeous!!! ❤
some valuable antique items there!
Sweet Elanor! ❤️🙏🏻🙏🏻
Dusty, Marissa love your videos and enjoy watching them. May the lord bless and protect you and your family and the bison and doing a controlled burn and abandoned building
I love how self reliant Eleanor is lol,
She says "coyotes? I wish they would try me" 😁
Hi Dusty and Marisa thank you for having me along God bless y'all love y'all those turkeys are huge hi there Brookes
My suggestion is turn it into a small cabin and have people from around the world stay in it for free trade with 4 hours work a day on the farm in trade. This will get you help you and promote the Bisson.
Those wooden wheels make nice yard decorations.
The cinderblock walls would make a great hay barn if you put a roof of some sort over the top or a good place to have a family picnic. How about a tour of the barn?
Elinor is cute. She loves her family.
A small cabin would nice. Maybe an air bnb for followers. If you built a windbreak shed and fenced a good sized area for Eleanor and maybe a couple of more, be a place guests could really see some of bison safely.
Old tractor wheels are cool to use as outdoor decor piece … I bought one and have it out front of our townhouse and put a small ivy like plant so cool
I enjoyed this video Dusty, loved seeing Elinore
Eleanor ❤❤😂
I think your cute little Eleanor would enjoy living as a pet bison up at the barn with you 🥰
As for the building I like the suggestions of dry storage and a turkey breeding facility.
And the refrigerator is so cool! I would move it inside somewhere asap so it doesn't take further beating by the elements. Then you can look for someone else to restore it for you or do it yourself when you have time.
I'd definitely make a cabin out of the structure. I'd always be looking for ways to make money, year round. Then, that huge pole barn would also be made into a cabin, again, I'd always be looking for ways to increase my income. I'd also make a tiny house out of that old silo. I'd modernize the property too by adding a small plunge pool for visitors to cool off during the hot summers here in Oklahoma. And then of course, during the winter, keep the pool covered like any other pool would be. But, all those structures would be turned in to AirB&B homes. Good luck with the renovations guys. I can't wait to see what you come up with.
Build a cabin and fix the pole barn close to it. The grain bin could later be a small bunk house even. Use rain water , propane, and solar for when you use it.
Rain water will need to be filtered and uv treatment for drinkng..
Propane can be used for cooking, heating, and even run a special refrigerator (check rv supplier).
Solar can run lights and in the summer a small ac.
Your family would love "camping" there. It could also be used by seasonal help and bison owner visitors.
Dang Dusty I've sold those wheels for ton. Glad you found it antique dealers will love you bro.
Dusty hi👋🏻👋🏻👋🏻 I think it would be so cool to have a little cabin with a little porch to sit and watch the Bison and the sun go down. You should sell the pulleys people look for those all the time. And you should go through the rusty stuff in the building and those old bottles sell sell sell them. I’d even buy one
Saw the back building the last time you burned back there. Was that 3 years ago already? I remember when you purchased the initial young 5, it was 5 wasn’t it, and had them at the OG.
There must be something you can use that block remnant for. How about fixing it up, with wire door and roof (with ventilation) for future turkey rearing. Automatic feeders and waterers so you don’t have to trudge out there every day. Tree branches for roosting. A camera inside to check on their well being. Get a big magnet (Google) to pick up nails and metal crap on and beneath the ground around the structure.
Long time watcher here!
Happy Trails as you keep on Bison ranching!!!
It is a precious area and sunsets so a cabin would be nice!
Great place to store round bales.
wow thats a very nice vintage fridge, could get good money for that on the right platform
It would make a cute cabin/party destination for you and all your friends.
Good idea!!!
Eleanor is my Fav❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Wow, that fridge is cool. My parents had an old Frigidaire in the basement. ❤❤❤
The hunting cabin you could make worth it's weight in gold. I'm sure there must be a well too for the hand pump somewhere close for making shine easier then toting water there.
Keep all metal for use inside on walls.
Rent it out...
If there is a well with ground water in it still I'd be surprised given Dusty had the property checked a year or two ago and they couldn't find any well water. I don't know if they checked by that old hand pump though.
@@the_quaint_gypsy He said he did and he showed the spot where they drilled next to the pump.
Oh, definitely save the wagon wheels. Part of the history of your farm ranch
Your videos are always a delight. Thank you for your skill and creativity.🎽🎆🍈
Metal ring might have been an old wagon wheel. The two metal wheels can be put by the entrance to the ranch for decoration, same with the horse shoe. The frig maybe you could restore and the oddities in the frig could be cleaned and put on a shelf put the frig in the barn
Dusty that ring you picked up is old Wagon wheel steel tire.........Thanks y'all......
Old F-4 Shoe🇺🇸
Tha nks for sharing I just love following you old lady in the UK
Cut the wooden frame where the metal sheets meet to create small pieces for easier roping chaining to bring them down.
A cabin sounds awesome!! My sister would love those old wheels! I enjoy old stuff like that!!
The grain bin could be a play house for Brooks 🩷💜
❤ Lots of history. Interesting stuff. Good to see all of you exploring together 😊
You could build it up some with a roof and store hay in ?
Thank you! Fun! Fun! Fun!😊
Sweet Eleanor is enjoying your visit to her little area of solace and is very interested in watching you from a distance because you have struck her curiosity with this old building. She has got to be the sweetest bison ever and is so curious too. She amazed me by being such a loner which from what I have seen and read about bison is rare with these majestic animals.
I am not creative I was thinking it would be good for storage. I love how you and your family are into reusing things, you are an inspiration.
I think a cabin is a great idea and could be fun content. I would watch but then I watch all your videos so I’m not sure that’s a big change. 😂. This was a fun video! Thanks!
Hello there, you could take the two wheels or that old gate and make a cool holder for the bison hide you have at the tanner. That old stuff is so amazing to see. Thank you for sharing it. 💜🙏💜🙏
Dusty on the fridge when you restore it be great to have your CTB logo on it. I agree that the building could be a cabin area and any scrap finds ad to the cabin to ad character from the site. The wheel ring love the idea for a sign. In the mean time the site could be a great camping place. I've always wondered why Eleanor wasn't kept close to the main barn or pasture? Love your family and channel. God bless!
Oh Eleanor ❤❤❤❤
Yup.. the cinder block is in good shape. You are taking what you want.. ie fridge, tin. You sound pretty excited about a cabin! Could be a nice getaway spot for the two of you or guest house? Building the gate protective structure around it will be more work than the cabin?
I remember having a metal box of those bandaids. Fun memories
Dusty, those wagon wheels probably bout 100 each..good luck ❤😂
Haven't seen a pitcher pump like that in many years. Have used a few.
The best way to separate the tin from the studs is a Sawzall between the metal and wood. NOTE, those are LEAD-Head nails. The lead on the head was used to seal the hole. That lead should be collected and not remain on the soil.
The circle was a tire from a wagon wheel.
The whole place says 50-60's. I'm thinking the slab may have a thick footing but only be 4-6 inches otherwise. The old frig has a latch on it that can't be opened from the inside. Those were dangerous because kids might hide in them and were not able to get out. Best idea is to remove the door. Used to be a common practice if you found an abandoned one.
If nothing else, put a plastic and metal roof over it and store hay in it. Keep rain and snow from leaching protein from the hay.
Old gates and bedsprngs make great driveway drags.
That vasoline is still good for animal use on paws or tails
What to do with the cinder block foundation? Clean it out, put a hoop top on it, and use it to keep big bales dry.
There's lots of things you can do with the old building, it'll be fun to see what you decide to do.
We're they old wagon wheels of some sort? They might add character to Marissa's flower garden.
I hope you restore that old fridge, they don't build them like that any more.
I'm sure you'll come up with some great ideas all round.
Thank you for sharing with us.
Have a great day !
Deb.
Old timer would use that old tin in a creek. It would be a way to let water go through when it is high and then comes down where the cattle can't walk the creek to get out.
Or just use that sheet metal to make another roof. Fill it full of hay or whatever and make it a storm shelter or shade area for your big bison kids!
