I could relate so much. They made them feel like humans and not the robots we're used to see in these historic dramas, all while adding a bit of comedy
I love this movie so much. It carries the humor of the book and characters. It shows that life back then wasn't as elegant and put together as we thought. I think Emma's father Is my favorite. POOR MISS TAYLOR

After all Gentleman Jack and David Copperfield both also have this sort of meme vibe to them and they are in fact set in the Victorian era. So yeah "Memey period drama" is the genre of choice.
Emma is my least favourite Austen novel but this movie actually made me love the story. It's fun, intelligent, witty, the costumes are gorgeous and the acting is outstanding. They really couldn't have done any better imo.

Sometimes you forget the amount of PURE CHAOS Mr. Woodhouse can bring to any and all scenes and then you watch this and you are reminded that EVERYONE is just bloody chaotic and it is just perfection!
I have some issues with this film, but I have to admit the humour is on point, the soundtrack is charming, and, for the first time, I find Mr. Woodhouse *likeable.* This is the first time he's been something more than an irritatingly selfish hypochondriac, and I like it.
