It depends on your needs. Sometimes you want both with a balance. Why? because if it's not abundantly clear, you want someone walking through what the thing does. You also want full disclosure, i.e., was there another device in the signal chain, was there reverb in the amp, etc. But I'd agree that when they talk through the entire video without saying anything useful, it's a waste of time. It's usually because they don't have a clue about using the pedal.
As with many multi-FX pedals, there's a definite learning curve and, as the 2nd part of this demo shows, there are a lot of extra functions and effects to be explored.

Personally, when a pedal gets to a stage of complexity that it needs a favorite switch, or program,- like the HOG,- I'm out. It took a few pricey mistakes to realize that too much tech can defeat the reason that I chose guitar-, and not keyboards. Best demo, not just the big ambient sounds, but the more standard modulations.This is a DEEP, but not unfathomable, pedal.
First rate comprehensive demo with well-chosen riffs and rhythms for each of the settings. Very persuasive. I have several EHX pedals but especially like Oceans 11, Eptiom3, Small stone and Freeze. I also use a Synth9 with my digital piano. Great pedals.
How are you finding the EHX superego plus for fretless? Do you like the effects and if so do they work well with Bass? I also own a fretless so will be interested to see what you think.

There is a pertinent information : this pedal is basicaly an evolution of the superego, a boosted version of the freeze pedal. This video demo take 4 minutes for demoing the effects part of the pedal, but it is not a "multieffect pedal"... It is A FREEZE pedal with some effects to bring some movement to the freeze sound. This demo does not illustrate or explain the basic functions of the pedal, attack, decay, layer, gliss, etc...
@@jsebsteelguitar Except this pedal IS a multieffect pedal. That's the reason it's more expensive. It's a freeze pedal, attack/sustain pedal, synth engine, multi effects pedal, and offers an FX loop, exp pedal input, etc. This video is a great overview of what this pedal offers.
@@richnewman It is an evolution of a freeze pedal, with deep controls (attack, sustain) to order to obtain synth sounds with a guitar. The Effect part is here to apply an effect to the FREEZE sound. It is not a simple multi effect pedal. It is a freeze pedal with advanced controls and effects for the freeze sounds.
Finally some one gets it and posts a demo without talking. So many people say such useless diarrhea of the mouth in Guitar videos
