    These concepts more sense than the 6 Rs and other technical jargons used to explain the migration practices.. Thanks Mike!

    It's so interesting to know that you can "Lift and Shift", a database into the cloud with ease. It make maintenance so much easier than physically going to the data center to plug in locally. Great video sir.

    A few years back without these concepts, I was often confused when do we refactor/replatform vs lift and shift. All these concepts make better sense with your examples. Thanks Mike.Your content is great, eagerly awaiting your videos :)

    I did not understand hybrid approach. If we moved all three web servers, app servers and DB on cloud then how is it hybrid? What part is left on premise?

    • @GoCloudArchitects
      @GoCloudArchitects  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Praman,
      A true lift and shift takes the VMs from the data center and moves then to to cloud.
      A hybrid is perhaps taking the web tier VMs and the App sever VMs and migrating to the cloud. But instead of migrating the database VMs to the cloud it would use a cloud native service like AWS DynamoDB or Google Cloud big table.
      It’s hybrid as it’s using by lift and shift and cloud native together
      This is different then a hybrid cloud

    During migration process, can we migrate router, switches, Firewalls from the datacenters to the cloud or its just servers and VMs ?

    • @GoCloudArchitects
      @GoCloudArchitects  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi you generally move everthing. But sine the cloud us just a virtualized network and datacenter, the routers and firewalls become virtualized.

      The coupon code will work as we made it to work with both programs.
      Please note the career development program includes live training, interview prep, emotional intelligence training, soft skills development, salary negation etc.
      The cloud architect experience program is only technical. Which is great if thats what your looking for but i know you asked about interview prep before.

    Okay so lift and shift is expensive in the long run while cloud native tends to be cheaper.

    • @GoCloudArchitects
      @GoCloudArchitects  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ryan - cloud native may be cheaper but with lift and shift if something happens like the cloud provider were to raise your rates you can go back to the datacenter or another cloud provider. So you have much more control which is highly valuable.
      It's that degree of control that causes most migrations to be lift and shift. It provides much better business continuity planning.
      The cost of refactoring applications to be cloud native is often very high for existing businesses which again may make lift and shift cheaper.
      Then other times cloud native is the best solution.
      With architecture its a case by case basis.
      Changes every day with the tech, customer, customer industry, market forces etc
