    Update: If you're installing this in 2021 you no longer need to pull the capacitor.

      First: Thanks for the Update. Very good video.
      I got my Fader yesterday. Is there some kind of serial number or something like this, so I can check if I need to do it or not?

      why do you say it is not necessary to remove the capacitor in 2021? I installed the fader jese dean a short time ago and when I complete all the steps and turn on the pt01 a pink noise begins to sound through the integrated speaker and also if I connect via aux output to another stereo

    For everybody asking about the capacitor, it's not a big deal, you can simple use some wire cutters or scissors to remove it, it's a 30 second job, it's definitely worth doing.

    I followed this successfully. Big thanks!! But, I think you could have spent more time talking about the challenges to install this for people who scratch with their right hand on the vinyl and left on the fader. While you did mention that if you wanted/needed to rotate the fader on a different angle you would have to remove a section of plastic to make space, you could have mentioned that this would be incredibly difficult and required tools that can cut through the plastic and sand/file it down flat. I think it took about 20 mins to follow your instructions, but to cut out the plastic to rotate it took me 2 hours!! And anyone thinking about this... it is the best ever but you must remove the capacitor C513: it is not an option. If you don’t it basically doesn’t work like a scratch fader and you may as well stick with the original switch fader. Thanks again.

      Oli Zen with the jesse dean Tonearm you can swing it all the way to to top of the platter. This makes right hand cutting feel much more natural with this table. Im pretty sure i talk abput it in the jesse dean tonarm install video. Thanks for the feedback and support!

    WARNING - DO NOT REMOVE C513 unless you plan on switching to the Jesse Dean fader. I did and now the Chipmunks are trippin' and volume is inconsistent. I will be getting a Jesse Dean fader now... Also, I used nail clippers to remove C513.

    Yo swiftstyle, great vid btw. I might have ran into an anomaly.
    I have a pt01-usb. Decided to take the stock metal faceplate for the matte black look. And what was underneath?
    A port for the scratch switch. Again i have a pt01USB not the scratch version.
    I was wondering if there was a way to install the jesse dean fader, components are slightly different, not an expert but im sure there is a slight difference in installation method IF it was possible. Anyway you could look into this? Just have no clue where to start. It would be badass to have a pt01usb/scratch hybrid just for a slight difference ;)

    Ive been on this for 6 hours today I’ve never felt more frustrated when I KNOW I copied him frame by frame. Did the whole calibration that wasn’t even shown in the vid too and got no volume! Calibrating resistors must’ve been broken or something. I was so excited getting this done that after i tested the fader, i opened it back up like 7 more times to see what was really wrong with it. I threw in the towel on the sixth hour. My Pt01 is out of luck.

    thanks for this video.... but unfortunately the black screws that came with my faders don't fit the fader plate... they literally slide in and out...the screws are too narrow for the hole in the faceplate, so basically i can't secure the fader to the unit.... :(

  • @stephens2322
    @stephens2322 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    All - i had a problem when i decided to pull the capacitor from the board. Basically, i decided to use a soldering iron, and in heating up the board - the contact pad lifted from the board. This broke a track that goes to one of the pins of the chips on the board. I would heavily, vehemently recommend using a set of small side cutters to remove the capacitor. A friend fixed it by bodging the track connection again.

    Is there a way to have both the JDean and the original switch fader on the deck at the same time? Like which wires would you have to cut and hook up to have the switch and JDean in series with each other? I’d like to have both options even if I need to drill another hole.

    How are you pulling the capacitor? The edit jumps and it’s off. Unlike the rest of the video which are long shots with you explaining your work. Are you desoldering it? . At the beginning Of the video you didn’t list that with your tools. Since these are the official instructions and all I just don’t feel breaking my table.

    If I remove that capacitor will it make the PT01 switch cut sharper?

      I don't believe so. Look up a company called RECK.LA on instagram they sell a small clip to help bring your scratch switch in sharper.

    I just installed the fader and followed all of the steps, but the fader isn't cutting the sound off on either side. Any ideas as to what I may need to do?

    ONE PIECE STEM AND FADER KNOB CONNECTED . THAT WOULD BE THE ULTIMATE FADER . if you could imagine , never worrying about the fader cap falling off the stem , stem and cap CONNECTED .

    Just installed the fader and removed the capacitor as well. However, when I use my headphones, the vinyl audio (from the tone arm) will only come out from 1 headphone. And when I play music from the stereo input, music will play out of both headphones. Anyone know of a way on how to fix this? I triple checked all cables are properly seated.

    Does anyone know if I do this Mod and clip off the capicitor, will that then mean if I fancy using a Mixfader in the future it wont work?

    • @tonyngo112
      @tonyngo112 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Removing the capacitor won't matter with external faders because the sound that will be cut is coming from the PT01 output (which that specific capacitor doesn't affect). The capacitor removal only has to do with the attached (hard wired) fader to the PT01 itself.
