【4K】𝐖𝐀𝐋𝐊 ➜ Margherita’s Gardens, Bologna, March 2024

The official opening of the park was celebrated with a luxurious ceremony on July 6, 1879.
It was decided to name the park “in honor of Her Majesty Queen Margaret”, who visited the city last year, immediately becoming “Margherita’s Gardens” for the residents of Bologna.
The construction work revealed an extensive Etruscan necropolis, rich in finds, today housed in the Civil Archaeological Museum of Bologna. Two of the tombs found were later rebuilt inside the park.
Since 1944, at one of the main entrances, behind one of the gates that once closed the city gates, there has been an equestrian monument to Vittorio Emanuele II, the work of 1884 by the sculptor Giulio Monteverde, transported here from Piazza Maggiore.
