Before throwing parts at your vehicle, make sure ALL your fuses are in the fuse box EVEN SPARES. I had ABS, Check Engine, and Brake warning lights on, and couldn't fix it for 2 years. I replaced ABS sensor, flushed differential oil, replaced EGR valve etc. I read someone say that a fuse could be the culprit. I popped a fuse into the empty "Spare" fuse slot, and suddenly the lights went away! I wasn't able to smog and register my truck for 2 years because of a fuse! I was happy and mad at the same time when the lights disappeared.

brake fluid in the reservoir goes down as the pads wear. Looking at this is a good indicator that you need brakes. If you have to fill this more than every few months...yes you then probably have a leak and a spongy pedal.

I have a seat ibiza 1.4 2006. I have painted my wheels and front breaks after i did that when i drive above 80km/h abs, handbrake, engine and steeringwheel power lights goes on and beeping 3 times. When i shut the car off and on the problem is away untill i drive above 80km/h again. I repleaced all abs sensors but it didnt helped. I have the problem almost a year. Do someone knows more about this?

Thanks for watching & welcome to the DIY Raptor Club. Since all sensors have been replaced, it may be as simple as a loose sensor connection.
We recommend checking all wheel speed sensors to not only ensure that they’re fully secured, but are also not making any contact with any painted surfaces recently painted.

Michael, I had the same symptoms with my 2002 Dodge Durango R/T. ABS and BRAKE LIGHT warning lights came on and wouldn't go out. I watched your video and proceeded to check the level. I added about 1/4" of fluid to my brake reservoir. Then ran the vehicle and pumped the brakes and the lights strayed on. I then pulled into my alley and applied brakes and about 5 mph. Both lights went out. I'll check my pads in the near future. Thanks for the tip. Bob

ABS almost got me killed. Where the big trucks stopped hard at the red light they left ripples in the hot pavement. As I was stopping for the red light they would kick in kick out kick in and my truck rolled into the path of a semi that was turning in front of me. I'd rather be the one to decide when I want the brakes to work. I unplugged the wires under the cab but I want to put the dash warning lights out. My brakes work fine without it. The only remedy I have been given is to repair the expensive ABS that I do not want. Please contact me if you know a solution. Thanks.

Thanks for watching Ron & we hope the video helped. We really appreciate you sharing your experience & we are happy to hear you’re ok. That’s a scary situation.
Older style vehicles had a simpler ABS system & had less sensors & more. The newer designed ABS systems are so complex & involved....which leads to more MX repairs...which leads to more & more drivers ignoring or not maintaining their ABS systems.
Whether the vehicle is older & newer, ABS system is important & we recommend doing your best to keep it operational.
By chance, have you had any issues with your ABS system in the past...any malfunctions...?

one of three things likely: wheel speed sensor in the front wheels or the speed sensor above the rear diff, or potentially the front hubs are shot, which in turn took out the speed sensors. Be sure to inspect the hubs prior to just replacing the wheel sensor, as new hubs will come with it.

I just want to know where to disconnect the brake abs plug on my 1991 Dodge Dakota. I had one done the same a few years back, I know it's locale is near the passenger side area on the floor, have to remove that side kick panel, but I'd really like to see a video on that. Incidentally, the brakes work fine but are going to be needing brake lines soon. I suspect this is the culprit., btw, good video that even any lame vehicle owner should know for preventive measures.

Then it wouldnt go into gear good ,went dead , got another boost went dead minutes later" so we just parked it as quickly as possible , his interiors lights still work & he can still lock it e2ith the remote lock thing. Thanks for watching & sharing your experience. Let’s get this figured out!
Verify all connection points are properly secured on Alternator. Next, how odd this sounds, verify that the Serpentine Belt is properly installed & wrapped around all pulleys correctly...this happens believe it or not...
Your new Alternator may not be charging your battery like it should. We recommend disconnecting your Negative terminal from your battery & allowing your vehicle to sit in this configuration for 5 minutes.
Reconnect battery & start engine...allow engine to run for 5 minutes. This will allow your onboard computer to communicate with all engine part connection sensors which may turn off ABS light. Let us know your update.

If you go to the part store and buy a case of any plain jane conventional atf transmission fluid put half a liter in the engine a couple days before your oil change and put the other half in the engine when you change your oil for the majority of people your ticking issues well go away if you do this every time they will stay gone. Some people who have your oil till its black inside a cave with no light at the north pole when the days are short and your wearing a welder helmet. That is not saving you anything if your owning a vehical and your thinking g in the long run i will..... if your getting new or different ever 3 yrs or less to bad for the guy who bought your stuff bt then ya your saving a little bit thou I do what I have said on every thing all the time new old used gas deisel but not at s or motorcycles orout board motors

Michael, I just want to express my gratitude. I had the same problem on my Prius 2004. I bought it used with a lot of miles, so I was expecting the worse. I searched the web and landed on this post of yours. It worked. The brakes had been worked on at a shop not long before (including the replacement of new calipers and brake pads) and apparently they had left the brake fluid too low. Note though that it was just above the minimum level line. But I tried it nonetheless, and so very glad I did. Thank you. Keep up your good work.

When I was driving my 2000 Chevrolet Cargo Van, the brake light and the ABS light went on, but when I parked and went to the store and got back in my van and started driving again neither of these lights went on again. I even parked my car and started driving it again twice and neither of these lights went on again. During this time I had no problem breaking. What happened?

    • @DIYwithMichaelBorders
      @DIYwithMichaelBorders  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Screaming Dean Hey there this is same answer to your question from my other video 😀👍
I have talked to a few individuals that have experienced an interment issue such as yours. It ended up being a temporary interruption in the voltage to the electrical system. First I would inspect the terminals on your battery and clean them in the event corrosion is present. Second I would take a look at the alternator connections and check for any corrosion as well as any lose connection (wires/bolts).
Another individual I spoke to mentioned that during each engine start, your ABS system goes through a quick self test. During one start, the system detected a fault...hence turned the lights on....however after turning engine off and on again...the ABS self test tested correctly and found no faults....hence turning the lights off. Thanks for checking out the video. Keep me posted.

Thanks for checking out the video and sharing your comment Bobby. Let’s get this figured out!
Has there been any recent repairs completed with any parts connected to entire Brake System? This will help us figure out whether or not any recent repairs are tied to what you are experiencing!
You mentioned that your reservoir is filled & brakes work great. That’s a good thing!
Your Dodge also has built in technology that monitors additional data with Brake System & illuminates Brake Light. It’s very possible that your Brake system has recognized an issue & is turning brake light on...as in your case, above 70mph.
Let’s start with any recent repairs completed & go from there! Let’s get this figured out!
Keep us posted! Please subscribe to the channel and turn on your TH-cam notification Bell that would be awesome thanks again Bobby! 😎👍🔧🔩

My 2000 Dakota is show ABS and brake on all the time. The fluid though is up to the fill line, any ideas?

Hey thanks for visiting the channel. In most cases, this is due to low fluid however as you have mentioned....you're fluid level is good. My next thing id check is the last time you had your brake pads and rotors changed. As the pads and rotors wear over the months/years...they caliper begins to adjust to meet the wear of the pads. Believe it or not, this leads to an ever so slowly decrease in the cars brake system computer leading to the EMER or ABS light warning being activated. Subscribe to the channel, thanks! Keep me posted!

Could be low fluid.... doubt it though..... wheel bearings.... speed sensor in rear differential all depending on your vehicle has... it it has 2 or 4 wheel abs wheel bearing hubs... or abs module. You can short out your brake connector under the dash to et the code. much like obd1 days... hope that helped

should you wait for your car to cool off before doing any of this or can you do it right after you turn your car off?

That's a great question. I would let the system cool off for 20 minutes or so prior completing job. This allows the pressure in the system to equalize. Subscribe to the channel if you're up to it thanks again!

      I have a 2010 dakota Laramie
      And both brake & ABS
      Lights are on
Do you believe it's a common dodge issue
And the solution on your video will work for me?
